A small dreadnought body with laminated spruce top & mahogany neck, back & sides.top & bottom have maple bindings.
Interesting rosewood bridge that doesn't use pins, but instead is drilled through the bottom edge & set up as a top loader.
Rosewood fingerboard with maple binding.
Nice solid sealed chrome tuners, not those cheap things you'd expect to find on a guitar in this price range.
The nut & saddle are plastic as far as I can tell.
This is a nice but simple no frills type of guitar that I bought to take on camping trips & the like.
I'm not sure where it was made. The headstock logo says Brownsville New York. But I'm pretty certain it's imported from some place like Indonesia or China or Korea. There's no way you could buy something that's made in NY for what these cost.
List is supposed to be around $219. But I saw them advertised at Sam Ash for $119. I paid $100. for mine, used without even knowing that Brownsville even made acoustics, let alone the price info.
I picked it up & played it & decided it was well worth the price.
Sound
:

I play country, rock, folk, blues & some jazz & fusion.
I was looking for a guitar for camping trips & the like & this is perfect.
The sound is rich & has a great bottom with clear mellow mids & highs, not thin sounding at all.
It's a nice guitar for strumming chords as well as for picking.
It's just what I was looking for.

Like I said, I bought this used & the guy I bought it from did some tweaking on the bridge saddle, but nothing major.
It has a few nicks & dings on it & a little dust.
I don't know how it came from the factory. But I was impressed with the maple bound neck & body & the style of the bridge.
Also impressive was the quality of the tuners.
I had no idea what Brownsville acoustics were selling for new when I picked this up. I could have done better on the price had I known. But this guitar plays & sounds like a much more expensive instrument. My only clue was the laminated top. Really nice for the money.
Reliability/Durability

I see no reason to question the durability or reliability of this guitar.
Everything looks solid enough...especially the tuners.
The bridge seems secure & with the way the strings pull through the bottom of the bridge, that would be the only concern I can see.
But I think that applies most of the tension in a way that it doesn't lift the bridge from the top of the guitar.
Time will tell on that one.
But I will be using this on camping trips & most likely won't have room for a backup.

I've been playing for about 40 years (& still keep hacking away without knowing what I'm doing).
As far as I can recall, I currently own 20 different guitars & basses counting this one.
I wish I would have researched the pricing before I bought this, only because I could have saved a few more bucks. But I still feel I got my money's worth with it, since it has so many positives & no real negatives so far.
I bought it at a flea market & didn't have the chance to compare it side by side with anything else. But I knew as soon as I picked it up & played it that this was a nice little guitar.
I haven't seen these around anywhere. And I'd expect the quality may be lacking consistency. So if it was lost or stolen, I'd probably end up finding something else. But I really like the richness & mellowness of the sound. I have other acoustics with more sparkle to the highs & I feel this one will compliment them nicely.
There is nothing that I can think of that I dislike about this guitar.
