Mine,i bought new in Jan of 2006. 24 3/4" scale, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard, Grover tuners and wooden compensated bridge. Body is 2 5/8" deep.Has 2 generic "Filtrics"(FilterTron type),which give a good approximation of that " Gretschy" sound. The controls are a 2 Vol./2 Tone w/ one 3 way p/u selector.

Sound : 10
I rewired mine to a Gretsch "tone-pot" control layout ( 1 master tone w/2 individual vol. and a master vol. control on treble side of upper bout). I play mine either thru a Drive G-120VR (2- 12") combo or a Drive G-65VR combo (1- 12"). Both amplifiers have a "Bright" switch which really helps to achieve that "twangy"-type sound. I also replaced the bridge assembly w/a roller bridge assembly, which to me is a must w/any guitar w/a Bigsby vibrato. The neck/body juncture and the 2 5/8 inch body still allow you to reach the upper part of the fret board and my only wish is that it had a 21 or 22 fret fingerboard instead of the 20 fret one it has. If you don't go up that far, still it is perfect.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Workmanship was fine, nothing was loose and when I rewired the controls,I had a chance to inspect the interior w/a mirror. No evidence of any irregularities. It has the 2 parallel tone bars under the laminated spruce top and no block under the area of the soundboard where the bridge base contacts the top.. It is finished in a very attractive orange stain finish. It has a very thin clear pickguard in the same shape as a Gretsch, also.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I replaced the strap buttons w/ Schaller straplocks, and control knobs w/ Gretsch arrow types. I have a Gretsch Electromatic G-5120 and a Carlo Robelli RB-1955,so I have no problems using it as a back-up or primary guitar.

Customer Support : 10
I have dealt w/ Sam Ash in the past and have had no problems...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing over 43 years now and own over 225 guitars. Although the Gretsch G-5120 and the Carlo Robelli RB-1955, that I also own cost more, I keep coming back to this one. It seems to fit me like a well worn glove. Scale length ( 24.75")helps. Price was perfect ( $399.99), also.. The more I played it, the better I liked it! I would look for another if something happened to it as it is discontinued.

I purchased this guitar-Brownsville MB630 Hollow body electric guitar from Sam Ash. The appearance and finish was so perfect that I had to compare it with a $1000.00 plus guitar. I really think it is the best guitar that I have ever owned. The way the frets and bridge are, as received, are so smooth and so different than other low priced guitars that I've played. The pick-ups are humbuckers and sound like the Gretsch Chet Atkins guitar that I had before. The finish and sound of this guitar has made it my favorite guitar of all that I own. I use it with a Polytone amplifier and I can get the sounds of popular and country music that I use. The sound is bright if I want it and mellow if I also want it.

Sound : No Opinion
I really like everything about this guitar. It stays in tune even though it has a Bigsby type tremolo which I must have. There is nothing that I can say against this guitar. It has a 17 in. body, the same as the Chet Atkins guitars. I just love it. I had to make some minor bridge adjustments but it was what I have to do on all of guitars that I purchase.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The guitar was well made, and was set up pretty accurate at the factory, and the pick-ups did require some adjustments. After what I said, I can not see anything else that I needed to do to this guitar. It is so beautiful.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This guitar is the only one that I will use in my future gigs, and the Bigsby tuners were a plus to this guitar. I feel so good about this guitar that I will not bring a secondary guitar---only a few extra strings if I break one.

Customer Support : 10
If it ever needs repair, I know how to do it, although it does have a warranty, and it is satisfactory. Also, I do believe in Sam Ash as my prior dealing with this company.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have played in bands for 40 years--all types of music. I chose this guitar because of the way it looked on the internet, and I always use a hollow body electric guitar and I do not want anything ever except tone and volume controls for each pick-up. I have installed (myself) a master volume control. I am an electronics technician, and that was a minor change.

This guitar is very, very similar to a Gretsch G5120 Electromatic Hollow Body Electric Guitar with Dual Coil Pickups.

From the Sam Ash website: "Made of select maple with a spruce top and finished in a vibrant transparent orange, Brownsville's MB630 is a modern day classic. With it's vintage-style tremolo, Grover tuners, cloud inlays, cream binding and custom-voiced"

Well, I bought this guitar for playing rockabilly. However, it can handle mostly any type of music, from rock, country, rockabilly, blues, punk. Since it is a hollow body, typical feedback can occur when amp is cranked up.

I am presently playing through a Fender FM212 amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was not set up very well (intonation off, pickups set low, bridge was so low the strings had no movement). However, I set it up to my liking and it plays great now. Not really an issue to me because I can easily set up a guitar the way I like.

Finish was perfect when I bought it. Looks beautiful!

Reliability/Durability : 8
Thus far, I've played it only at practice with my band and at home. It seems reliable.

I will definitely use it at a gig.

No clue....

Been playing guitar for 30 years.
I own a Martin EM-18, a Fender Highway One Telecaster, a 1963 Silvertone hollowbody, A Peavey T-15.

Other than the cloud inlays, I love the look of the guitar. It looks like a Gretsch and sounds great. It's easy to play as well.
