Features : 9
2001 New Brubaker B-4 Nashville Prototype Standard in a beautiful Goldtop finish 24 Fret hardtail (strings thru bridge) with Duncan P-90's 3 way switch with very responsive tone control. Locking Sperzel tuners. Ash Body. Maple neck with Ebony fretboard. The neck is wide and fat and sleek sleek sleek! Really fast. This guitar is the first Prototype in the K-4 Nashville series and is amazing! Hand made quality all the way. Case is as fine as the guitar -- not your average case from the padded handle to the heavy wood sides to the reinforced ends -- it screams quality!! The tone control is amazing and very nicely responsive -- creats a whole tonal palette!

Sound : 10
This guitar is alive and resonant. It is truly a great player! The Ash body, neck thru bolt-on design, Duncan Hotties make this baby do the Tubesteak Boogie ala Billy Gibbons or sparkly country twang depending on the tone control! No muddiness as with a lot of humbucker equipped guitars - gotta say I love p-90's! Pretty quiet for P-90's but some noise is part of the mojo! I'm playing it through a tweed era clone bassman, my Traynor vintage amp and my Tech 21. I also play through an Evans if I want that cool jazz thang.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Here is where Brubakers simply beat everything out there. These are completely hand-made. Even the necks are made from scratch. The attention to detail is very evident. The Headstock is as aristic as the body! Simply stunning -- really no comparison with mass-produced guitars - even Hamer and PRS which I love! No flaws of any kind and set up to perfection. Even precisely detuned one whole step for shipping. Brubaker is a genius with wood and tone!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I own a ton of nice guitars -- have bought and sold 100's! This is built like a tank -- I don't abuse it and treat it real nice but I don't baby it when I'm playing. This is a serious players guitar that happens to look real nice and expensive too. It will do the deal and earn the seal!

Customer Support : 10
Kevin Brubaker is the nicest guy and best luthier you will ever meet, as someone else said. Jeff, his sales director, is also most accomodating! I am convinced there is not a better handmade guitar out there. PRS, Gibson or Fender custom shops can't touch the quality, playability and sound of these instruments. Each is a work of art too. Kevin will make a place in the world of fine first class guitars with these babies! Customer support is old world service and craftsmanship. Kevin pours his heart and soul into these guitars and it truly shows. Some big names are using these. I predict others may follow.

Overall Rating : 10
These are not cheap guitars by any means -- 2500-4000 -- what they are is worth every penny. I have been playing for 30 years, repairing and rebuilding instruments for 25. This guitar is amazing and he can make me another to be my backup to this FIRST prototype K-4 Nashville anytime! I play USA Hamers -- great guitars. I love handmades by quality folks -- Michael Porter, Bill Fels, Kuntz and Thurston. This will be treasured!
