This is a MIJ guitar in a beautiful Transparent Black burst finish over a Flamed Maple cap on a Mahogany body and neck with a Rosewood fretboard.

Out of the box, the action was low, not too low and the non-locking tuners held the tune just fine. I suppose they allowed the strings to stretch first, a nice detail which helps keep the tune, since the strings are new.

This is a beautiful LP copy and validates the reason why guitar pros use Burnys. If you have the Super Grade or Super Glide, this is the same guitar but in fancier mode.

The top appears to be a Maple cap instead of veneer, a plus if you need the true LP sound.

It came with the standard Burny PUs, MIJ, and these are some of the few MIJ PUs that can emulate the Gibby standard PUs.

This thing is built like a tank while it looks fancy.

You already know why Burnys are highly-regarded and this model confirms the reputation the MIJ models have built.

Sound : 10
As mentioned above, it has the Super Grade tone that pros hunt for when the old school Gibson LP sound is an absolute requirement.

Very classic LP tones and it doesn't fail to deliver played through my tube amps: Fenders, Marshalls, Oranges, ENGLs, and Hughes & Kettners.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Out of the box, the action and intonation was perfect.

The finish is typical Japanese attention to detail. I bought mine slightly used (looked new) in Hamamatsu (home of Tokai) and didn't have dings, dents, or scratches. I love the crazy, Flamed Maple. A Super Grade in fancy clothes.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've only had this for a little over 6 months, a little past the honeymoon stage and so far, it's holding up well like any well-cared for guitar.

If I were to upgrade anything, it'll be the usual - Strap Locks.

Customer Support : 9
Haven't had the need for customer support on my Burnys.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been gigging on and off for 20 years ... mostly classic rock covers and mostly for fun.

This could be a go to guitar .. in rotation with my Tokai and Gibson LPs.

Gorgeous flamed Maple cap over Mahogany body, done in Black Burst. LP-shaped with Tune-O-Matic bridge, bullet-proof tuners (non-locking), and 24.75" scale. The neck is a bit thinner than the Super Grade ('50s style) and the package came with a gigbag, strap, and cable.

This one was made in Japan, has the 2V and 2T pots and a 3-way selector.

It has the standard HH pick-up configuration and sounds very similar to Burny's stock but less expensive Super Grade (regular Maple cap).

Sound : 10
This doesn't disappoint, it's a "prettier" version of the Super Grade which already sound awesome and easily the equivalent of the Gibson '58s and '59s.

I've used these on various classic rock amps from Fender, Orange, Marshall JCM, and the more metal Hughes & Kettner and it delivers.

Because it's an LP, it's heavy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This baby was ready to rock right out of the box.

Action was not super-low, which is my preference, didn't have to adjust the PU heights, frets were nicely dressed/filed, hardware shiny, nut is perfect, and I didn't have to tweak the bridge.

The pots were very quiet, soldering very clean, and the selector feels solid.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have 2 Super Grades and a couple of Gibson LPs and this one can easily last as long.

Like most quality LPs (Gibson, Tokai, Orville), this baby is built solid.

Customer Support : 9
I've never had to deal with customer support. I bought this in Japan.

Overall Rating : 10
Like all Burny and MIJ LP copies, this model is highly-recommended. If you have a Burny Super Grade, the feel and sound are very similar ... except this one is a show-off with the beautiful Maple cap and Transparent Black Burst.
