This Burny was made in japan. mid ,late 1980s its a soild mahogany body judging buy the overall weight 11 pounds. The humbucker pups have been changed from the originals and are Seymour Duncans humbuckers. They sound great im sure the weight factors in to this. the rosewood fretboard is dark and the frets are jumbo . the neck is mahogany one piece. The color is black with a nice thin poly finish..i dont think they used nitro but i cant be sure so i will say thin ploy coat. 3 way switch is solid and gold hardwear has a small amount of tarnish from age.. looks as beautiful as it plays

Sound : 10
Burny les paul customs are exact replicas of Gibson Customs. The japanese luthiers that made these guitars knew what they were doing. The rival some gibsons les pauls .
The SD on this Burny are loud punchy full of sustain and crunch played through any of my vinatge tube amps. Nothing i dislike about this guitar its the bomb and sounds great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Like i said before the workmanship is impeccable on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This Les paul would be great fore shows ...i would say a bit heavy for a 2 hour show but it will withstand live playing no problem you can always lean on an amp during a solo>..

Overall rating of this guitar is 11. its a great Lp full of tone and Kick. I play all kinds of music and it can handle type of music i play punk to country..i will compare it to my gibson les paul classic and it holds its own of course my classic had gibson pups installed and sounds a bit hotter with the 500t...This burny custom is a nice brother to the gibson. if your looking fore a great Les paul you can get one of these for half the price of a gibson . and im sure they will become more valuable as the years go by...

THis Custom can go through all the same paces as a gibson custom, plays as well as any gibson i have played. fret work looks a little better than some of the recent gibson standards i have played...Can cover all of the same stuff a gibson can played through the right amp. sounds Great awesome and amazing!

Mine is a RLC-65 '57 Black Beauty reissue, made in Japan in '85-'86, as '85 was the first year for the RLC-65 and mine has the "correct" split-diamond inlay which was only on the early ones. All expected LP features- 22 vintage sized frets with fret-edge binding, solid mahogany body and I don't think they capped it with maple (which would be period correct for a '57)... I can't see a seem iwhen looking in the pup cavity. The fret board isn't ebony but it is a VERY dark roseboard that everyone mistakes for ebony, even my Martin-hoarding cousin. Burny typically used a very thin poly coat instead of nitro for their top finishes, and it has a medium tenon neck, meaning it extends right up to the pup cavity. Came stock with 3 VH-4 Burny PAFs (more on those later;-)
Being that it is a "reissue" I give it very high scores across the board for historical accuracy with small deductions for poly and not nitro -1, medium not long tenon (no big deal) -.5, dark rosewood not ebony -.5

Sound : 10
:-) :-) :-) That's the big grin on my face. I have owned numerous Gib**ns over the years, and sold them all as I was never happy with them... in fact, I decided that I just did not like LP's and could never see what the big deal was. I had owned a '72 GT deluxe, a '81 standard, and several other standards to name a few. I switched to strats and teles exclusively for a while, found Fender Japan, which led me to Orville by Gibson (my first was a very nice '61 SG and I also have a OBG LPR-59 ri), then Burny. This Burny was the first MIJ LP that I purchased, and NOW I see what the big deal is.
Granted, I have never owned or even had the opportunity to play an original 54-60, and probably never will... but compared against every HB equipped guitar that I have played, this one blows them AWAY. Sustain forever, obviously... tremendous harmonics. I should mention amps- I play through a '65 Ampeg Jet primarily with Fender Pro Jr as a back up and also for a while through a recently sold Marshall Studio 15. Burny pups have a well-deserved great tone reputation. The VH-4's they used in the RLC-65 are the best PAFs I have found (still looking for that early 80's Burny with original VH-1s). I am not going to try and use words that mean something to one person and something else to someone else, "open" "textured"... I will just say it literally makes smile when I play it. I have A+B's it against Gibson '57's and SD's in my other guitars, and I like those pups a lot... just in my opinion, the Burny's beat them hands down. Clean, crunchy, or all out overdriven, it doesn't matter. And this guitar with the 3 pup config is very versatile. I play most of leads on the neck pup actually, but the bridge is great too- ballsy when driven, and you can get a nice country twang when clean. And the middle switch position puts the bridge and middle pup together slightly out of phase which gives a passable strat-like quack when played clean. The neck pup is my favorite- WOW.
I play in a classic rock cover band, heavy on '70s stuff, and especially heavy on Skynyrd and the like... it's a natural fit. Usually no effect other than a tube screamer and a SD booster and occasional delay.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was over 20 years old when I purchased, but it was in perfect playability right out of the crate. Bone nut is in great shape... all hardware has nicely aged. The only problem I have have is an occasionally fickle pup selector switch which I will replace when I get around to it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I never gig without a backup, but mostly because I switch to an open tuning for a few songs. If it were not for the switch, I would not hesitate to bring this along solo. Its an absolute tank. Going strong after 24 years with no sign of slowing down. Its only going to keep getting better.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No thelling which manufacturer made this one... I am leaning towards Fuji-Gen. But it doesn't matter... long out of warranty, but so what. Anything I can't fix, my guitar tech can.

Overall Rating : 9
How long have I been playing... well, I'm 45 and started when I was 10 but never really took it seriously. I was a campfire strummer for 20 years until about 10 years ago when I plugged in and started playing in a band. I have since gone through about 25-30 LP's, SG's, strats, teles, various acoustics. Right now I have this one, a B urny SG Custom (cream, like a '62 Les Paul SG), a Orville by Gibson LP '59 rish, a Burny LP Jr., and an Ovation Custom Legend. Lost or stolen, yes I would absolutely try and find another one. This and my OBG '59 are by far the best of the bunch.

I dont know when it was made my brother says 1980s in japan. It is black with 2 pickups. The headstock has pearl inlay and copies gibson headstock to the tee. The humbuckers have a full hot tone..
all the hardware is worn from gold to tarnished sliverish some mite say aged looking . The hardware is top notch tone pros like bridge and such..my epiphones never had great swiches and bridges and nuts on them for that matter i wont even talk about the pickups epi puts out, Burny blows away epi stock les paul custom by a mile and stands up really well to a real Gibson les paul.

Sound : 10
Really nice pickups, really great piece of aged wood. The pickups cover anything from blues to metallica..Sounds perfect through a Marshall.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar is old and has some nicks and a few chips here and there but it stll looks cool..the neck is very playable.

Fernandes makes Burnys but this model custom from the 1980s is no longer in production . new burnys are made in china. not the same guitar.. so no, no support from the company on a vintage 1980s burny lp custom made in japan.

Overall Rating : 10
Years on top of years on top of a another mountain of years ive been rambling and playing the geter...and many of them at that..If i gotta compare this to the orginal les paul(made by gibson) id say its pretty Damm close from a players stand point. if youve got the MoJo but not the $$$for a gibson try a Burny with a good tube amp i doubt you will be dissapointed . you can try other vintage made in japan les pauls.. Greco, Tokai, orville but if you want to take the long way around like i did you wont and you will buy a Burny LP First and not waste your time...they are the Best Vintage Les Paul Customs made in Japan out there..

My Burny les paul Custom is metalic red rather rare color I ws told. You may already know that all Burnys made up to late 1990s are Made in Japan and are the best gibson les paul copys. The neck on this burny is closer to a 1960s neck , the frets are meaty on this Burny, i have 3 others the frets are not as fat.this one more like gibson les pauls from the 1970s.. im guessing a refret, nice one at that, it came from japan.Did not come with VH1 pups so i am changing the pickups out. This burny weighs over 10 pounds my others are not quite as heavy
I am finding out that each Burny les paul Custom has its own personality and feel and sound as i keep collecting them (im not done yet either i hope to own 10) They are simple amazing guitars!

Sound : 10
I have played around with changing the pickups on my burnys LPC before because they are amazingly build solid body les paul you really cant go wrong with a set of gibsons or dimarzios installed great sustain nice harmonics..

made in the 70's or early 80's Pre Law suite era' easily identifiable by the split siamond inlay on the headstock the post law suite era has several changes made to it. Made in Japan by Fernendez/burny, Mohogany body/neck ect.2 vol/2,tone controls 3 way selector, big pots vintage cap ect... it was bought used in good shape with average wear for its age. gols harware worn and pitted but still solid as all !!! Gotoh Tunes pitted and worn but still work smooth and with out issues. the finish was white but has aged(yellow'd) very nice and creammy and even. when i took the guitar apart to make sure things were in order(cleaning /maintance)the aged color was contrasted by the really white finish under the black pick guard.
the neck is my favorite part just tight for me:) straite and with real ebony board big block MOP Inlays.

Sound : 10
Im a gear junkie with that being said i own to much stuff to list(most i use only on occation) this guitar originaly came with the VH! pickups they are very balanced and clear in tone dirty or clean channel quality tone worthy. i had at one point installed a couple seymour duncans with gold covers , i guess just to tinker and listen and see if these pickups were accually as good in compairison (or iff i was just believing the hipe in my head..lol)but to my suprise an d as i thought the real VH1 pups are for sure great pickups the JB and the jazz i put in it sounded deadly smooth and rich but could also drive the amp and be very punchy and sonic the guitar now has a set of custom actives in it, i like the active pickups but i wanted different feel than emg's(im more than happy with Don's work) that Don Morrison of villain custom shop hand made for me and this guitar screams . what i liked the most was the price to be honest im a active guitars and im not loaded or rich i own 15-20 different guitars i favor less pauls but they are tools and not just toys..lol sobang for buck i wanted the best i could get for the money and get as close to a vintage gibson les paul custom from the era with out spending 3-5K to own it . i bought a gibson custom grail in 2007 and the paymentsget old, but i use the play for pay to cover the costs but that guitar is awesome ..i just wish now i hadnt got a signature series guitar.. 2k exstra'for the name gibson wow 9good guitar)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
bought it used so no factory settings . when i did get this guitar is was set up well bone nut all original hardware ect. lOW CLEAN action I MEAN LOW! plays with out effort fast smooth, very agile!
the fish has help up for 30 years and has yellow's nicely', there is wear but its been played and taken care off. fits [well]:) lol

Reliability/Durability : 10
strap buttons hnmmm. i did replace them with dunlop strap locks , just thing i do with any guitar i intend on keeping for awhile.(sometimes I-BOLTS) this guitar is as dependable as anything could be 30 pluss years and has a dead straite neck , all original parts stood up aswell. BUT always remember no matter how good something is ...if its not taken care of it just wont last or be with out issues. i've seen to many awesome (exspensive) guitars go to the crapper just caus ethey were treated like ****.. ive found barbaque sause (i thnik thats what it was anyways) toe nail clipping and pennies and such stuff pehind the pickups of various used guitars i bought to fix up,over the years it goes with out saying. this guitar is A+++ wish i had got it years ago(fact)

Customer Support : No Opinion
unknown fernandez/bury has a good rep in japan though. but as in the USA....on this guitar lol...i doubt it
