The Indy 9 was custom made in Benton Il. by Chris Fouke. This guitar is modeled after a Guild X-79 and made of two aluminum body plates separated by a plastic material that runs around the outer edge leaving the body hollow. It has a Charvel neck with a 25.5" scale, Schaller locking tuners. The bridge is a Shaller combo bridge/talepiece with fine tuners. Two humbucker pickups made by Seymour Duncan. The neck is a Jeff Beck and the bridge pickup is an SH-5. Each pickup has it's own mini switch allowing for the pickups to be split and phased. There are two volume controls and one tone.

I know an X-79 is not what you would think of when it comes to playing blues but that's what I like. With a set of 13 flat wounds on it I can match the harsh sound of a Strat or tame it down to sound like a Guild Bluesbird. Which is just what I was looking for. If you like Sherd, it can do that too. There are no noise problems at all. I am currently using a Crate GFX-212 and a 4/12 Crate speaker cabnet. I am very happy with it's range of sound and sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Setup was good. Intonation was right on. I did lower the action a bit and give the truss rod a little crank. But what the heck, It was a brand new neck with a set of 13 flat wounds on it. I've had guitars that I've cut new 13's off of because I was afraid the strings would snap the neck! That's not a problem here. This guitar is solid.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar was made to be played in the clubs. It could stand quite a bit of abuse. I'm sure the hardware will last. In my book you can't get any better than Shaller. The finish is a buffed aluminum. I may scratch it buy it will take a lot more abuse than any wood body! I feel I can depend on this guitar. It's got some of the best hardware available. I would neve go to a gig without a backup.

Chris Fouke has his hart in these guitars. I don't think he could sleep nights thinking there was something that wasn't right. Any problems that I might have with this guitar short my own abuse, I'm sure he would make it right.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing off and on now for 20 years. I currently own five Industrial Guitars. If that doesn't say I'm happy with the product I don't know what does. I have 25 other guitars and the Industrials are the guitars I play the most. This is the guitar I had Chris make for me. I picked out all the hardware. This is my dream guitar and Chris made that dream come true.
