Like all the rest mine was made in Japan too. I bought it new in '76, put it on lay away and paid on it every payday until it was paid for. each time I took them money I got to play it for a bit then they put it back away.
The top is spruce, mahogony neck with the nice ribbon marks in it, rosewood fret board and the back and sides are all bookmatched flamed maple. $200 was a fair amount of money in '76 so this wasn't some cheapo accoustic. It was probably mid range for that time period.

I play a lot of different music on it. Classic rock to blues and the guitar has everything you could want as far as sound and playability. Good for strumming or fingerpicking styles.

As far as set up goes it suits my needs just fine whether i'm strummin it or running a slide up and down the neck. As I sais the sides and back are both book matched flamed maple. The flame on the back come together to form a heart shape on the back. The finish is as good as when I bought really. The detail is way more than you would expect out of an instrument in it's price range. If I had to guess I would say tha tnew, today this guitar could easily sell for $1500.00 or more.

I've been playing for 33 years. This guitar was the first good one I ever ownde, it was my girlfriend for the first two years I had it. You ask "if it were lost or stolen would I buy it again?" here's a unique answer for ya. The guitar was stolen after I had it two years, by a "friend" no less. I was devastated. Five years later another friend heard me talk of it and told what really happened to it. At the time, he didn't know it was mine he would have brought it straight back tome. He was asked to get rid of it and he did. 16 years after it disappeared my wife was going to the local flea market. She asked if I wanted to go. At first I said no, changing my mind I caught her as she was leaving the driveway. When I got to the flea market I decided to check out a regular merchant's guitars. I spotted a Gibson dove hanging up and walked towards it. On a table sat a flamed maple accoustic faced down. I flipped it over and checked the sound board for the first ding I ever put in it and sure as shit there she was, right on the lower bout where the door knob hit hit it when I first got her. I shouted with joy explaining to the vender it was mine and how it was stolen 16 years before. He said a guy just sold it to him that morning, wanted a $100. but came back later and accepted 50 for it. I told him I'd give him his 50 back to hae my guitar back and he did it. It was absent tuners at the time so I put some Grovers on and restrung it. It sounded sweeter than I even remembered. These guitars have a big rich bottom end. If you EVER get a chance to get one DO IT!

Bought her new in 1976 for $165. Way too much for a high school kid, but it was my first new guitar. Spruce front, sides and a twin split spruce back, simply beautiful guitar. The only addition I've made in 30 years is to upgrade the case.

I play a lot of three-chord country and Buffet while cruising on my sailboat. Just return from three months in Mexico and Belize where her sounds were as pure as when I first played her.

I play her just as she was originally set up in 1976. I find her easier to play than my Ovation.

Great guitar, can't imagine selling her as long asI can still play. I currently own an Ovation 12-string that I would sell first.

My Conn F20 was made in the early to mid 70's. I bought mine new in late 1974 or 75. Can't remember how much I paid but it wasn't over $200.00 I don't think. It is Japanese made and distributed out of Oakbrook, Illinois. I don't know what type of wood it is made of I just liked the way it looked then and still do. It's Blonde body with mahogany colored neck with pearl-like inlays is beautiful. Tuners are very good.

I'm a self-taught player and this was my 3rd guitar and the only one of my first 5 that I still have. I play mostly folk, pop and gospel. It serves me well for fingerpicking as well as strumming. I'm just beginning to play at church services and use a Markley acoustic pickup or just mike the sound hole to amplify. Has a good rich sound and I have been looking for a new guitar that sounds as good and feels as good. Not easy on a $600.00 or less budget. Takamine seems to be the closest I have found so far. I like using Earthwood extra-light strings.

Maybe not the best action, but I'm looking for something as good for under $700.00 and am finding this to be an almost impossible task. Since I bought this guitar over 30 years ago, I have only had it worked on once and that was about 2 years ago. It now has some real bumps and bruises, but still sounds and plays very well.

I feel 150% confident with my Conn. Maybe because it was my first "real" guitar, but I think it is because it is simply well built.

No support anymore. Find a good guitar man and be prepared to hear, "it isn't worth fixing". I have heard that a couple of times but I may have to just fork up the bucks to fix up my Conn.

I've been trying to play guitar for 38 years and I've had my Conn for 31. I actually bought it because of 1. the price was right. (college kid on a strict budget) 2. I liked the way it looked. 3. I wanted to prove to the sales person in the music store that I was not there to just drool over and strum all the guitars again for the umteenth time.
I have an Ovation 12 string and a Fender Custom Telecaster. When I just want to play for me, I pick up the Conn. If I could find another guitar with the feel and sound I would buy it. Takamine and Alvarez have models that are close, but I haven't made the plunge yet.

I Bought my first Conn I think it's an F25, on ebay for $55, the day it arrived I knew I had found something really special. the low ends will send a chill down your spine. The highs are clear and the Mid tones make it a complete picture,, Liked it so much I jumped on a later Ebay offering at $160, I have had offers on both but will not sell.

The Action was a little low, so I had it set up by a professional (Bill Chapman..set up man for Hootie and the Fish (now retired)) after that it's been absolutely kind to me. My second one is prettier, with an absolutely perfect finish, but it's slightly smaller,, the First has a sunburst finish which I would find ugly were I looking at it from the position of the audience,, all the way until you heard it.

I've been playing for about 10 years, this is my favorite guitar of all time, I have played others including a few taylors and a Gibson, and I own a Takemine, a Framus 12 string, a mid level Samick and a Jim Harley Colorado Flattop,, the Conns are far superior to these.

1973 conn f20 spruce top flamed maple sides and back. Dreadnaught style.I agree with Dean. This is a very well put together guitar. I got it froma friend after he broke the headstock off. I glued and clamped it and it seems to have no ill effects. Mother of pearl rectangle inlay. Real thick neck like an SG.

Conn does not make guitars anymore. It would be interesting to call them and see if they offered service for a 32 year old guitar.

I'v been playing over 20 years and styles range from alternative to classical to folk. I play worship music at my church. If something happened to this guitar I would try and find one on e-bay they sell for about $150.00 and in my opinion they are worth 15 times that amount. I love the warmth of this guitar and that every note is sweet sounding. I would compare it to some high end Martins and Taylors (it's that good) but with character (32 years old). I wish it had a pick up installed but that will be down the road.

Made in Japan. I purchased it new in the early 70s. Conn band instruments for awhile was trying to put out a superior quality guitar...and they did. At the time I compared it to Martins and Gibsons and chose it. Just sounded better. Georgeous guitar!! It's a blondy . Spruce top and, Maple sides, flamed Maple back. Standard Conn Chome name plate inside with the serial/model number. Body bindings, chrome hargware. It has block neck inlays, Rosewood Bridge and fingerboard.

Since the day I got this guitar it has had a sound that you only find in high end Martins. Over the years it has gotten better. I have gotten other guitars since...but none have suited me as well. There isn't anything I don't like about this guitar. I love it. It plays great. Just a big, full, sweet sound that when you hear it ... you know it. It's just gotten better with age.

I've been playing a long time... not long enough though. This guitar will outlive me. I've played Ovations, Gibsons, Taylors, Fenders... haven't found any better. If it were lost or stolen... I'd cry. If you can pick one of these up, do. They generally don't sell at high prices now... because no one knows anything about them anymore. Because of that, it's one of those chances to get an incredible guitar at a great price
