Made in Japan early 90's, bought it on Ebay 1 year ago. Deep burgundy laquer over natural grain.
Hollow body with a solid core, unsure of the timber used but not expensive looking.Has the F holes and tune-o-matic bridge like Gibson.
3-way & 4 pots controll the two pickups. Functions perfectly all the way to full volume. No brand on the tuners but they may be the only downfall of this beast-over geared & wouldn't hold tune, replaced with genuine new 335 tuners with little mods & works perfectly.
Dead straight fat flat neck suits my big fat fingers.

Sound : 10
I like to play classic & power rock, been playing 25 years. play thru Marshall jcm800 and recently bought an Ashton GA100 (awesome)which I play the canora thru. Diversity of sound is HUGE on a clean/semi clean channel & suits a range of music styles. Play dirty & the bridge pickup is extremely hot-too hot. Great for a big overdrive sound with heaps of sustain. You relly have to play with your live set-up to avoid feedback. After hearing this thing live ore than a few people have asked where they can get one. Avoid pedals if you can. sound quality seems to break down a bit with two or more pedals.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar is well worn & seen some action. It's not showroom quality but the binding is intact. Action is so low I thought at first I'd have to raise it but it's perfect-no frett buzz anywhere and now that I'm used to it I love it.
Bridge Pickup had to be lowered ever so slightly just to take the edge off, but not lose any quality. Wood finish is poor up close but, cheap even, but from a distance looks wet-very glossy. Not like a real 335. Absolutely no noise in the selector or pots, very surprising for the pricePickups pots and selector are well fitted & tight.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Once I got the setup right to avoid killer feedback it plays great live. It would have been a pain with original tuners. Strap buttons are rock solid & will take some punishment as the guitar is quite light for it's size. Wood finish will fade soon and is showing signs of early wear, but I like that in a loved guitar. The electronics have never failed & don't look like they will. Has always been dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No one I know has ever heard of Canora and I can't find the company. Guitar was third hand & I don't know it's history bit it's needed no repairs or factory backup so far

Overall Rating : 10
If i lost this guitar I would find another one somehow. I will never sell it ever. I've got 2 genuine tele's and a Gibson 175 & it's up there with the big boys, In fact if I saw one for sale I'd pick it up. Bang for my bucks this axe is tops.

early 90's 335 copy in redish brown plywood?? Looks good though.22 frets with big fat neck. White binding, rosewood fretboard, square pearl inlays. 12th & 14th inlay have gone clear & I swear it looks like chipboard underneath. Came with case. Cash Converters special.

Sound : 5
good Oasis vibe in bedroom but feeds back like a bastard on stage. I run through a nice marshall JTM-60. sounds shit clean. Dirty in bridge pickup can get a nice feed back thing going. I actually like playing the thing, should spend some money & get it setup for giging. so far the vibe outways the sound

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
typical cashies cheapie. Except the edgebinding and general finish seem really good for a knockoff. tuners are sus. pickups too hot.

Reliability/Durability : 6
fragile tuning wise. finish and hardware in original state. edge binding has yellowed nicely. I only use as a backup but it has served this purpose very well

Trevor Dunen here again folks this baby was a Christmas present for my son, but I played it and reviewed it anyway for all the folks out there.

Made in Japan in the early 90's this guitar is a solid body, semi hollow, it has the Gibson tune-o-matic bridge which I was impressed with as it gives easy scope to adjust your set-up. The colour is a beautiful two tone sunburst red/yellow the 2 volume knobs and tone knobs are clear plastic with numbers set in them and a black background. It has twin lined white/black plasting binding on the guitar and a rosewood fretboard with white platic binding and large rectangle fret markers in abalone! Gibson Style. The 2 pick ups, bridge and neck are similar to the normal Gibson ES 335 pick-ups. Canora's own brand The instrument has a extremely fat neck, which is ok because it suits my young son Dene who is only 11. The tuners are Canora brand and not much chop, the ratio is too high and there is not enough fine adjustment but it stays in tune. There is a 3 way selector switch at the top left when you are playing marked treble and rythmn and this works well to change the pick-up sound for lead or rythmn or a combo of both. Ther are no F holes like the gibson, this one is solid but hollow inside. The wood is excellent in quality and look. The hardware has gone a little bit rusty but it can be replaced. A good idea to change the tuners and maybe put in better pick-ups and hey presto, a rock and roll machine!!!!

Sound : 9
It's not for me but my son. I play rock and roll, rythmn ands blues and just about anything. I have an Abilene Strat set up with Fender Hardware and Pick-ups and a Danalectro U2 1957 replica with lipstick pick-ups, played thru a digitech genesis 3 guitar modeller and a 50 watt Marshall G50 RCD. This guitar will do most sounds and the tone and adjustments are great. You could gig with it no problems. I tend to like fender strats, that's just my thing, I would not buy one of these, I prefer the strat, but if I liked the Gibson ES335 I would have one of these. I bought it for my sons style and the fat neck suits him, and it strings up and plays well with XL strings. The tuno-matic-bridge is great for a good set-up and for easy adjustments. There is a good combiantion of sounds from the 3 way pick up switch and the difference between the two pick-ups is amazing. You can get a eal good variety of sounds and combinations as you have 2 tone and volume controls. The sound is pretty rich in tone for both pick-up[s and yuu can get a deep base sound or a whiny lead number depending on the pick up you use or any combination in between.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
This guitar is good looking, well made and set up, good action, great binding and a good touch is the abalone fret spots which are large and rectangular. Fat neck makes her easy to play, and a good cut-away to let the fingers get up that fretboard close!

Reliability/Durability : 9
The hardware could be changed or upgraded, it needs new tuners, as the ones on it are not suitable, if you changed the tuners, put in a couple of real gibson pick ups and changed all of the internal electric to after market D'addario you would have one killer machine type ax, you could gig with this, but take a back up until it has been modified, just in case. I do not think it would fail but better to be safe tha regretful. It is a durable hard wearing hard palying little machine, i reccommend it.

forget it

Overall Rating : 10
Playing 18 years, singer song writer and a member of APRA. The gear I use is above. 42 years old. I would puchase one of these again at this price for sure. I wish it had the origanl Gibson electrics and pick-ups and grover tuners and I would marry the thing!

I'm unsure when it was made, mid 90's in Japan I guess.
22 frets, semi hollow body.
2 volume and tone knobs and a 3-way slecetor.
Pickup config is H/H.
Unknown pickup make could be canora's own.
Plywood body I think, Maple neck.
Transparent brown finish, very ugly at first glance.
Gibson style Tune-O-Matic bridge.
Non-locking tuners canora's own brand.
Rosewood fret board, painted neck, white binding.
It came with a very cheap strap and a set of strings.

Sound : 9
I play punk, rock, pop (old), grunge, classic rock and a whole range of others and I'm very happy with it all.
I am using a Marshall VS100R amp.
you can nake a lot of noise at low volume but get it too high and it just feeds back like crazy, the pickups are too powerful for the construction but it's the only falt that I can find.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The best thing about this guitar is the setup. I could go on all day the neck is dead straight, the action is so low it should be impossible. The wood is a little cheap but what would you expect? It has no factory flaws that I can spot. The hardware is like as new. It has a large dent in the back of the neck close to the body but nothing to worry about it was there when I got it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have used it live with no problem with no bckup. Every thing on it will last a long time and I have never broken a string I play hard on old strings and they just won't break. The finish won't come off in a million years, which isn't very good if you want it to age. The strap buttons are very solid because they are set across the grain of the wood. I can depend on but I wouldn't want it to hit the ground, the body just couldn't take it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I can't find the company.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 5 years and owned the guitar for a year now.
There is one thing I that I had asked when buying it, "Where can I get more of these"
If it ever got stolen or lost (not bloody likely it dosent leave my sight) I could not replace it EVER!! and I wouldn't want anything else.
the thing that I love about it the the setup but more improtantly the action. there is nothing that I hate but the feed back gets anoying.
I had a choice of this guitar and an endless range of new guitars under $500 from lots of major brands, I seen this and thought yuck but when I picked it up I just had to have it.

I have played a $3500 Gibson SG and I still would never even consider trading it.
