2007 - Lefty 12 String version of the Craig Chaquico signature. Mahogany neck thru w/ quilt top finished in green burst.Tortise shell binding on the body. 12 Sperzel tuners! I love 12 strings, hate stringing them. These really help out. 24 frets w/ acess all the way up. The neck is narrow & comfortable, the back is a C profile.Smooth Ebony fret board. Med Jumbo frets. Very easy to play. The smooth neck transition is very nice as well. The body is semi hollow but @ 2" it is quite thin & comfortable, lite as well. It has a 12 string acoustic brigde & saddle. But it strings through the back. Bridge pins are not used, this helps tuning stability. LR Baggs undersaddle pickup. Controls on the top of the guitar include Volume, Treble & Bass. Gold Hardware. Beautiful cloud inlays & headstock inlay in Abalone.

Sound : 9
This guitar is meant to be plugged in. There is not much sound unplugged. The tone plugged in is typical LR Baggs, wich is a great thing. The electronics are very quiet even with the treble control maxed out. But the guitar has a very hot output. I play it through a SWR California Blonde. The sound is smooth, crisp & clean. Very good note seperation. If your playing live & swore off 12 strings because of all the drawbacks (tuning, intonation, feedback)this guitar will change you.
I guess the only drawback is it has to be plugged in & it only does the acoustic electric sound

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory set up was very good. The truss rod was properly set.Nut is tusq & properly cut. The strings were funky though, changed them right away to D'Adarrio 10 - 47-12 string set. The tone improved dramatically. Carvin was shipping with Elixirs, not this guitar.
The fit & finnish (always Carvin's strong suit) it amazing. It looks like a very expensive custom instrument

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think this is a 12 string that wil last forever. Neck through contruction is very strong. The Sperzels should hold up well. The electronics are not complicated. Theres no EQ box in the side of the guitar to burn up. Being a simple guitar, there is not much to go wrong.I think it is very dependable.I would gig without a back up if a break proof string was invented.

Customer Support : 9
Ordering the guitar was simple. I chose the woods, options & color. The guitar was delivered in 6 weeks. I have dealt with customer service in the past for my SC90 & was shipped a new Spezel that week at no charge. They have always been helpfull.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing for 38 yrs now. I own over 50 high quality lefty guitars. 4 of then are Carvins. Carvins are very lefty friendly. They make nice instruments. When I want a eye popping figured top guitar, I go to Carvin. I get amazing quality for much less than other established brands. I have 4 Les Pauls, they are great guitars. I had to play 50 or so to get 4 Les Pauls that feel right. My 4 Carvins showed up feeling right. I think that explains it.
