To be honest I ordered the covered pickups so there would be room to install an EMG ZW set.
The legacy Carvin pickup rout is too small to accomodate most any other pickup without some tweaking either the pickup or cavity.
The covered pickups require a larger rout so the EMG pickups dropped right in. THe is enought room in the control cavity to accomodate two 9vdc batteries for plenty of head room. The volume ant tone control holes must be opened up to fit the EMG supplied pots.
I don't even know how the factory pickups sound because I repleced them right off.
The guitar roars now. Plenty of sustain.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was set up perfect from the factory with a 3/64 relief and no buzz. Intonation was dead on.
The finish is flawless. I understand white/white is a little more time consuming to do. I could not find one defect.
The black gotoh bridge hardware was unblemished.

I'm heavy handed sometimes and this guitar takes what I give it. There is really nothing to break.

I've been playing a while and owned many differet brands of guitars. I only play carvin now.
If this guitar went missing I would go on a man hunt.
