How can you go wrong with a custom made 7-string guitar? I had mine upgraded with straplocks, jumbo frets, black hardware, and a locking nut. Standard features are: 25.5" scale ebony fretboard with 24 frets and a flat radius, maple neck-through alder strat-style body, Floyd Rose 7-string tremolo (make sure you ask for a locking nut because they don't automatically include it), Sperzel locking tuners, two Carvin humbuckers and a Carvin single coil, typical 5-way switch (passive electronics), 1 volume, 1 tone, solid finish (mine is black). Hardshell case.

I like my metal heavy and warm, and this guitar, combined with my Peavey Bandit 112, suites me perfectly. I don't use any effects. The sound is rich, heavy, full, warm, and bright at the same time!
AMAZING SUSTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys do a fabulous job on their set-ups. Low action (but not too low) and great finish, though a bit thin at corners in body cavities. Couldn't find a single moteable flaw.

The only problem I've had with it so far has actually turned out not to be much of a problem -- one of the clamps in the Floyd Rose bridge fell out as I removed a string for the first time. All I did was drop it back into place, tightened it against the new string, and it's held for over a month of intense playing with no apparent difficulties. Other than that, this guitar seems built (and feels) like a tank. I love the straplocks! Never had those before. Finish seems durable. Hardware seems top notch.

5-year warranty. The guys that handled my order were very courteous and knowledgable. We'll see what happens when I call them about that clamp.

I love this guitar! I clean it after almost every use -- a habit I never developed for my old guitar. The workmanship, playability, sound, features, and value rival my Jackson Soloist!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sustain actually surpasses that of my Soloist! But maybe that's due to its greater mass, being a 7-string. I do slightly prefer the Seymour Duncan pickups in my Jackson. If it were stolen or lost I would not hesitate to buy another one. I couldn't compare it to other 7-string guitars because Carvin sells direct. But I have tried others, and once I did receive this guitar, nonthing else even comes close.
Been playing for 7 years. Before getting this one and the Soloist, the only electric I had was a cheap Jackson import -- STILL MY BABY!!!!!!!!!! Y'know, like when you're little, and you have this stuffed animal that gets all beaten up and filthy, with the stuffing coming out of its neck and one arm hanging by a thread? And so your parents get you a brand new one...
...AND YOU STILL LOVE PLAYING WITH THAT OLD ONE!

made in usa, H-S-H pickup configuration. This guitar has a 2 piece alder neck, Koa sides and a green flame maple top and headstock. Other features include a locking floyd rose and a coil tap for the bridge humbucker. It also has an on switch for bridge PU so I can have all three on. I like the nitrocellulose feel on the neck. Frets are medium but tall. I wish they offered semour duncans or other non carvin PU's although I like the carvins, they are pretty nice and distinctive.

The guitar growls and it sings lullabys. I play avant garde and jazz styles but I could use this for tool, or for hellecasters style sounds as well. It has serious twang... probably because the alder neck has such a lively resonance... it controls feedback and invites it at the same time. It also can do the santana sustain thing but doesnt get as muddy as a PRS or Les Paul. HAlf of what I do comes from birdcalls and the sound of trainwrecks. This is altra versitale and clear, but not anticeptic... It has a nice randy Rhoads ora british eq sound to it too.. A grainy sparkle when overdriven. Not mushy not anticeptically clean.... it does respnd to articulation nuances as well... probably the alsder neck.... this is the first alder neck on one of their 7 strings. MAple is good but it is a controlling wook that evens out dynamics... alder is more responsive. I might throw a tom anderson in neck position but I havn't decided yet. The pickups are bolted to the body so they pick up the resonance very well... almost acoustic

I asked for a bit of chaos in my flametop and I got it... some finish problems in floyd rose cavity but I care less about that than feel of neck and body... which is perfect... light alder neck makes this thing shift its center of gravity... balances like a warwick bass... that nice! Koas is sap green when finished in their emerald green and it really sets it off well on sides and back.. Neck is beutiful bUt action is almost too good... I have to get used to it... yeah poor-baby.

a unique guitar that isnt a nasal whiny guitar like a brian moore's sound and isn't overpriced like the ibanez bolt ons. It feels like a great ergonomic bass... it isnt just a guitar with an extra string it is harmonically different, livelier and this has a resonance (acousically) that other seven strings dont have. get one if you want something new. Ive been playing 18 years chops like Gilbert, madness like thurston moore. (no sonic hang-ups)Im very odd and demanding... this guitar is not a clone. If you are a clone you might not like this and I suggest a nice Fender or Gibson. PRS if you want status... carvin or an indepenant luthiers are for the adventurous, and we get what we pay for instead of a decal!
