I'm guessing it was made in the mid to late 80's based on reviews I've read on the DG-10's and DG-20's. It does not have traditional pick-ups. The whole guitar is black plastic. It has no tuners, it's basically a keyboard that plays like a guitar. It has a main volume and a rhythm volume for the very basic drum machine. It has two rows of buttons, one for selecting the instrument and the other for the rhythm pattern plus a A/B button on both rows. It has 12 different instrument sounds and 12 drum patterns.

It sounds like an old Casio key-board, I like the organs the best. Running it through my marshall acoustic amp with a Digitech GNX-3 you can get a lot of different tones, some really cool, some that hurt your ears. I've got a Randall 160 watt amp I haven't tried yet. Running it through my Roland micro-cube is good, they match up well and a lot of tone choices.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is not an issue with this. It has strings but they only activate the pick-up system. The fret-board is rubberized and apparently has sensors under each fret and string. Supprisingly to me, it picks up or tracks very well. The strings are all the same size and plactic. It either looks like something out of the future or a cool toy. It really is more than a toy.
Reliability/Durability

Given the age of this thing and the battle scars on it, I'd say it's pretty durable. I'm sure it would hold up gigging but I'm not sure I'd want to be seen with it.
Customer Support
:
No Opinion
From what I've read, these digital guitars haven't been supported by Casio for a long time.

I've been playing since the early 60's. I love the old rock and blues, but today I play Christian Praise & Worship in church. My acoustic rig is a Wechter Pathmaker with a Marshall AS50R (very sweet set-up) and my electric rig is a DeArmond M75T with a Randall 160 (80X2) stereo chorus and sometimes the Digitech GNX-3. I also use a Kramer Focus which costs 60 bucks and I love it, plays great and sounds really nice. I can't really compare this to any thing, it's a digital guitar and unlike anything I've ever played. It is really a blast to have and just too much fun to play. I can't find much information on it, actually none on the DG-1, so if you know anything about it, please let me know.
