Sound : 10
I play a lot of Blues and Robben Ford type of songs and this guitar is perfect for that. Versatile and nice Fat sounding guitar. This guitar can sound pretty good for Jazz as well as for Rock or Blues. A lot of Sustain too. My bridge pick-up is a Seymour Duncan JB so it is a little bit more agressive than the custom Bartolini.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Every thing on the guitar was perfect. The finish is superb and the quality of the craftmanship awesome. I have bought a lot of guitars in my life for much more Money and they did not have all the qualities this Chafin has.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is built like a Tank. Heavy and very well done. I do not Gig so I will surely give it to a kid one day! No corners has been cut

Customer Support : No Opinion
I did not have to call them for any trouble but I corresponded before buying and Ben amswered all my questions and was Friendly

Overall Rating : 10
I am almost 50 and used to collect guitars so I have tried more or less every kind of high end guitar in my Life. This one is the best buy for the Buck. I am pretty sure you will have to pay Twice the Amount in a couple of years if not several months. It is a Keeper. I just bought an other one with an Ebony Neck and the Bartolini custom pick-ups. A good sign that I love mine...

I am a professional blues musician, and this guitar is in every sense of the word perfect.
I use a Peavey Delta Blues 210 30W tube amp with a Peavey 212 Extension cabinet.
I run Visual Sound Route 66 Overdrive/Compressor pedal, Visual Sound H2o Liquid Chorus/Echo, and Dunlop Classic Cry Baby wah.
This guitar is clear and smooth throughout the whole spectrum of volume, and tone settings
It exudes thick syrupy drenched midrange tones with the treble side not getting lost at all, Play a chord and every note and nuance of tone rings true for each individual string.
The range of sounds seems to be infinite, ranging from the Classic Les Paul,to the jazzy tones of a 335, to the quack and chime of a Tele and Strat.
What's not to like?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup was perfect from the factory, I received it and played a gig 5 hours later without a hitch.
The pickup height was right on the money no adjustment was needed
The bookmatched top is flawless.
The detail to fit and finish clearly shows that Ben Chafin is not just another guitar manufacturer. He is an Artist with a vision and perfection is striven for and evident in every instrument he builds, I know because this is my second one and I am having another one built.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I played my first gig with this guitar 5 hours after I received it. The only other guitar I took was my other Chafin Custom (see my first review of that one)
There is no plastic on this guitar all the hardware is A-Line top shelf made no corners are cut.
The finish will out last the rest of my time here I am sure
The strap buttons are the stud type screw off with solid machined buttons. (As a former machinist, I can assure you they will last)
After the first show I have no doubt about the reliability of this guitar.
I would absolutely use this guitar without taking another one, although I always like the option of having two guitars.

Customer Support : 10
I have spoken to Ben Chafin a number of times via emails and on the phone. Ben is like a long lost friend he is attentive to your needs and wants feedback and input from the customer. He strives to make sure that you feel you are not just another customer to him but part of the growing Chafin Guitar Family.

The Warranty is 10 years

I am a professional musician I have been playing for 41 years, I am an Artist member of the New England Blues Society as well as the Blues Foundation. I own a number of high end guitars including a 2002 Chafin Custom Ember prototype, 1958 Gibson Les Paul Custom, PRS Custom 22 Artist Package, Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster, SRV Stratocaster, Custom Rene Martinez Lipstick Stratocaster,Schecter USA C1+ prototype.
The most stunning Visual feature on this guitar is the AAAAA Quilt top
If it was stolen I would definitely buy another Chafin Custom, without a moments hestitancy.
I chose this guitar because of the quality, sound, and reliability that I had already found in my first Chafin I bought.
I hold Guitar builders to a very high standard of expectation, and Ben Chafin holds himself to an even higher level.

I have all the confidence in the world that once people get a Chafin guitar in their hands they will have the same reaction I did. They will see and feel what a fine quality guitar, with thought given to the player, feels like, and sounds like. They will then see that beauty is not just skin deep as the old saying goes. That beneath the beauty is a finely constructed, sounding instrument, that blends beautiful woods with high quality electronics, that stimulates the visual and auditory senses, like no other.

Ben Chafin has proven that a exceptional quailty, fantastic playing, USA handbuilt made guitar, doesn't have to break the bank to own. Ben has taken all his years of knowledge of and playing guitar and brought his vision and dream forth and made it a reality in these fine guitars that bear his name.

Ben I stand tall and proud as a Chafin Custom Guitars owner, and my hats off to you.

The guitar is very versitile. Strat to SG and beyond all in one guitar! The volume and tone knobs are both push-pulls for a wide variety of tones, For only a couple hundred bucks more I cold have had one of Chafin's INCREDIBLE "11 tops" but there in no warmer tone than solid mahogany!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came setup perfectly. I waited a few extra days for the Mr. Chafin himself to set it up personally! Everything was absolutely perfect when the guitar arrived from the dealer. GREAT fretwork!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Everything is top of the line on this guitar. Comes with Gretsch-like strap locks. The only time this guitar leaves home will be for the studio.

Customer Support : 10
I've had the pleasure of dealing with the company on a couple of occasions and they treated me like an old friend. No problems, just inquiring about other models and future purchases.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 years. You know that feeling you get when you hold a guitar that just "fits"? It's like an extension of your hands? Your heart? The one you reach for because you love playing guitar? For me, it's my Chafin.
