Same as the other guys have noted, definitely a solid instrument, quite heavy for what it is. Nice mother of toilet seat binding and art deco fretboard.

This instrument took a little getting used to however it quickly became apparent after fiddling with it for an hour that its a tone machine capable of anything from Hank Sr whine to ripping snarling blues. I found it a little bright but overall a nice full tone. First I plugged it into a Pro Jr and was very pleased with that combination, especially for blues. Very easy to get that Hank Sr. steel sound with this combination. I plugged it into a Deluxe Reverb and the tone was making me want to record something right away! I don't know how you can expect much variety in tone from just the instrument, however a player can affect whatever he or she is capable of, and thats alot with this simplicity.

Is well made. My only complaint is the volume knob and I gather its just getting used to it for volume swells.

Dunno........however wish I'd bought an Electraslide back when they were affordable, now they are out of sight in price.

Picking for thirty or so years, I had contemplated getting another lap steel but didn't want to pay alot and this one seemed to be the best one for the money. I tune it in a dobro tuning because I'm used to those variations, but I've tuned it to D and E, and it performed well. I'd like an eight string, but this one does all I need.

Made in 2002 in USA. Solid mahogany body, string thru, 1 pickup w/ vol. and tone controls. Bought the hardshell case separately for $99.00. Instrument was $349.00--bought from Musician's Friend. I give it a 9 in the features category. Not a lot of features, but has everything you need.

Good for blues, country, rock, jazz, etc. It adds an interesting twist to many differsnt types of music. Sounds good--no hum, etc. from the electronics. I play it thru a veriety of tube amps, as well as a solid state bass amp and it sounds good with any of them. Effects that sound best are tremolo and chorus.

Found no construction problems. It looks good and is well constructed. I think the pickup is marvelous. Right out of the case it was in tune and ready to play.

I have had this instrument for about a year and it has held up well. I even let my 3 year old nephew play with it. I wondered about the tuners at first but they have been fine. I guess I expected some short-cuts because of the affordable price but apparently these folks can sell well-built USA instruments at a fairly low price point.

Never needed repairs, but I have sent them 2 e-mails asking questions before I purchased it. Both were answered same day. They do stand behind their products and I don't doubt that I would get whatever support I needed if I needed it.

I've been playing for many years and own a ton of bass and guitar related gear. I would for sure buy again. I am glad an American-made product such as this is so affordable. My only suggestion is to go ahead and spend the extra $99.00 on a case.

Brand new 2002, made in the good old USA. I think it has three octaves...The RH-2 is the basic model with a Weissenborn-style slab body, one CC-90 pickup, deluxe bridge and tailpiece, and figured fingerboard with art deco graphics. Bought a sweet case for it for $99

I play many different types of music...from jazz to bluegrass to blues, reggae and rock. I bought the lapsteel because I have been playing the dobro for a few months and I was itchin' to get electric again. I figured the lapsteel would be exactly what I was lookin for and I think I was right! Sounds great with all effects, from delay to distortion. Was playing out of my Carvin MTS3200 but I cant wait to try it out of my SWR Strawberry Blonde. I was so impressed with the fullness of the clean sound, even with just a single coil. Very full and warm sound...especially for a relatively inexpensive instrument!

It looks cool, well put together. The inlays are different. The wood had a few marks on it, but that wasn't Chandler's fault. It was set up well. The action works well with my custom made GS Steel (A quick endorsment for a gorgeous CUSTOM MADE steel www.gssteels.com)

I dig it! I love playing lap style, and now I can use all my effects pedals and get a sweet electric sound. I also think the price was very reasonable. I figured since it was my first Lap Steel, I wouldn't spend too much, but I didn't want a piece of junk. I'm very happy with my Chandler, I'd definately buy another one! I also own a Liberty Resonator, Carvin DC127 Fishman, Gibson ES-135, Ovation Elite Standard, Carvin MTS-3200, SWR Strawberry Blonde, and various Line 6, Boss and Alesis effects (all held together with my custom made pedalboard from custompedalboard.com).

I have the Royal Hawaiian Lap Steel. The features are pretty basic, but it has all you really need. Slab mohogany body and neck, oversize lap steel single coil, volume and tone controls, and celluloid binding. The finish is really just a light stain and varnish of the wood, and as a backdrop for the binding and "fretboard" decoration, it looks awesome! I give it a ten for features not because it has that many, but because it has all it needs.

I played a lot of slide guitar before I got this, and I plan to use it for everything I used slide for. It's got that great ringing lap steel sound, exactly what I expected, although it took me a while to "tame" it. It requires you to build up your string damping skills differently than stright slide guitar. Fiddling with the controls gives you all sorts of sounds, and the tone has a great wah like chomp in the first quarter of its turn. The controls are also well placed for on the fly volume and tone swells. Sounds friggin awesome for anything requiring slide or lap steel tones, and it LOVES my Ross compressor. The only thing I miss is that I can't "pop" the strings anymore.

The action sucks! Just kidding or course. Paul Chandler sets these up himself and as far as I know (this is my first steel) he did a great job. A couple minor complaints are that the nut is not set very neatly in its slot, but this is really a minor grip. The binding is flawlessly applied as are the pickup and bridge.

This really is a fantastic value. I bought a $1500 National Resolectric a while ago with the intention of using it as my main slide guitar, but I didn't keep it. This was less than $400 with tax and I love it and can't imagine getting rid of it. It sounds great through all my amps (one modern tube one vintage solid state), responds very well to effects, looks great, and I get to look cool at a jam with this on my lap!
