Do not know the year made and Chandler was sending to Japan until the quality slipped.
22 frets. Tele style. Ash or alder who knows. Standard tele controls and pu's. Maple/rosewood. 62 reissue burst w binding. Old Kluson type tuners w easy to string slotted pegs. Probably Duncan's the bridge has the raised coil lugs on the D and G strings.

Sounds real nice through my Crate 30 watt tube. Also through the Marshall Valvestate 20.
Very clean at each notch and the tones blend through the pickups with punch, bright sounds with alot of headroom all around the tone knob. Not much hum.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The electrics are great but there is evidence of solder not factory. The p guard was either made by an amateur or the factory was sloppy. The screw hole by the 3 switch went thru the rout so it was off at the factory! The neck is very nice one of the best, the neck pocket could have been tighter. The body finish is smooth and looks almost as good as a Fender but the glue seams are very obvious.

Reliability/Durability : 6
The reason I'm writing this is to warn about the different quality I have experianced even if this is my first Chandler from what I've read about the company it makes a big difference where and when the guitar was made.
I have almost 50 guitars about 12 of them Teles so I have a good idea of the good ones.
I rely on the opinions of these reviews and like to add to the data base to repay the favor.
3 cheers for HARMONY CENTRAL.

Playing about 3 years. Ask questions if buying on the internet.
Players tend to overlook the things collector/ players find wrong.
I would buy another Chandler in a second but I'd have to see it in person or see detailed pics. I would not buy this one again at the price I paid.

I believe it is a 1996 model, Seafoam green with white perloid cover and maple neck, I was told the neck profile is from Paul Chandler's 1953 Esquire, it is nice and chunky baseball bat type with great action and beautiful birdseye all over. Standard Tele set up, with special hand wound Seymour Duncan pickups. A real beauty to behold, a lot of instrument for a small amount of $.

Sound : 10
I was told by a very good guitar tech that trick to most Tele type guitars is in the guitar-amp combination, and that is the truth well spoken, a lot of players will try a Tele and not get it at first because they put out less output than humbuckers, even strats, they are thin sounding, etc... yet when you find the magic amp to play one through, it is an unbeleivable instrument. i.e. my story with this guitar. I am playing it through a Bad Cat 30R (it dosen't get better than this for amplifiers) and it is a match made in heaven, I have severla high-end guitars, Gibsons and Fenders and I keep going back to the Chandler for it's great balanced tone. I will admit, that through other amps it was not as good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
When I got it, it was set up perfectly, I use 11's on it and I have had to do nothing to it, 2 years since and it still plays great.
The finish is great, if you look, you can see a couple of minor bumps in the finish here and there, but again, this is a guitar that cost me $475, and I consider it to be as good or better than some of my much more expensive guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 9
No problems. clean the volume pots once in a while, thats about it.

Customer Support : 10
I contact them about the guitar when I first bought it and they new the original owner, very nice folks at Chandler.
I don't forsee any problems.

A great value for the money, in fact, almost hard to beleive. Made in the USA??? with custom shop details (birdseye neck), I love this guitar now that I have the perfect amplifier match for it, I would recommend you look into amp matching when you buy a tele of any kind. I Highly recommend this guitar, I don't know if the newer models are as good as the mid 90's ones like mine, I can only say this guitar is sweet.

Basic copy of a Fender Tele, the biggest difference is a flashy look; seafoam green with mother of toilet seat pickgaurd. Nice neck, pretty to look at and comfortable. Now for the downside. For a guitar company that makes an issue about being "American made" when I had the original pick-ups removed because they were unbearably noisy even for single coils, what do I find on the underside? Little labels indicating "Made in China". When I contacted the company they had no response to that issue. So I had some Fender "noiseless" pickups installed. Result, the guitar sounded even worse. Contacted Fender, it turns out that the bridge plate assembly is some cheap knock-off that reacts with the magnets in the Fender pickups. That's why it sounds so terrible. Ordered a new bridge plate from Fender; doesn't work. Chandler uses a nonstandard size bridge plate. If I hadn't paid good money for this POS I would slice it up with a chainsaw and send it back to Chandler. Put it up for sale instead

Noisier then any of my Fender Telecasters or G&L ASAT. So bad that you can't even use it to record.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Looks great. It would be the perfect guitar to use in a video for VH1 as long as you didn't actually plug it in and play it.

Reliability/Durability : 2
It'll probably last forever since no one who plays it more then once wants to play it again. It's be hanging in the shop where I've got it for sale for almost a year.

There answer to my issue with the terrible sound of the pick-ups was that the pots needed cleaning, and that there really couldn't be anything wrong with the pick-ups. Never answered when I confronted them over the made in china stickers on the pick-ups either. When I talked to them about the magnetic-reactive bridge plate, I was informed that that was an industry standard.

Overall Rating : 1
I would love to say that this guitar was great then maybe somebody would read this review and buy mine. Truth be told it is without a doubt the worst guitar I have ever owned. I truly would cut it up or burn it except for the fact I now have around $650 tied up in it.

American made Alder body, Birds eye maple neck, 22 frets, 3 way switching on two single coils. Finish is cool, cause its sea foam green with creme binding. Telecaster Body style and Headstock. Vintage 6 saddle and vintage style Kluson Tuners. The neck is like a less of a U shape, came with a tweed case.

Sound : 10
it's cool because I have always loved tele sounds, but the newer model you get, the worse they seem to sound. I use a Big old Fender twin with it, and it sounds nice. Of course being single coils it is noisy, but that's just part of a tele type guitar. The sound is warm
like an old Fender Broadcaster, it's real punchy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The set up, well it sucked beacause the previous owner didn't know anything about setting a guitar up. I fixed that post haste, and it just got better from there. But other wise I Likes it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing is strong as hell. I could beat over somebodys head, but I'd rather not, this guitar just needs to be pampered. I would use it almost all the time if not for the bad distortion sounds I get out of it, But it would probably sound sweet with a Dual Rails Pickup in the bridge.

I've been playing for 5 years, And I haven't found a better tele in that time than this. I would lose my mind if this thing broke or got stolen. I would definitely invest in another if it was stolen.
What a Sweet guitar.
