I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago. Made in Japan, early 90's and has a dark metalflake GREEN finish that looks almost black. Jackson floyd with the finetuners on top, Stock SSH active jackson pickups. I have never been a fan of jackson's stock pickups but these are GREAT.1 Volume and 2 tone w/5way switch.Rosewood board, 22fret slim bolton Maple neck and I think the body is Alder or maybe basswood??? I got it used so no case, no them arm, just the guitar BUT FOR 158.00$+50 SHIPPING I'LL BUY ALL I CAN FIND FOR THAT $

Sound : 8
I play in a cover band (we do some originals)new rock, old rock, heavey drop D rock...I don't have a dtuna on it so no drop D stuff, Just like any other locked floyd type trem. The single coils are dead quite and the whole pickup set sound NOT JUST GOOD BUT REALLY GOOD. I run it into a Boss tuner and super distortion(not used too much) and a wah pedals, into a 100 Watt Boogie Nomad w/ 1960 cabs. I also run a boss GT3 into the loop for delay and chorus and maybe a little eq. It sounds as good as my Wolfgang standard or my Axis. Doesn't sustain as good as my Les Pauls BUT WHAT DOES? If you need a super strat, for the money you can't touch these guitars. The only thing I dislike is the small body. Im 6'3" 230lb. I also think it would lend some more to the tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Well,I got it used so I don't know if there was much set-up work done on it or not. It was set-up nice when I got it. I think these guitars were prob. very well made. Mine is close to 10 years old and it has held up great. Judging from the guitar now I would say action fit and finish were awsome.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have used it live. It is as solid as any of my other guitars. Nice hardware, tough finish, the strap buttons are still solid. A very dependable guitar. Gig without a backup? HELL NO NEVER. As the only guitarist I can't drop out for very long. If I have too, I change guitars real fast and ROCK ON.

I got it used so no warrenty.

I have been playing for 20+ years. I have tons of gear, Mesa Nomad,Marshall jcm 800 and 900 heads and 4x12 cabs. I have 3 U.S. Strats Lonestar, Deluxe and a standard, 3 Les pauls 1 custom and 2 classics, a Heritage 157 (check out my review on these kickass guitars), Gibson V, US tele, Old Hamer Blitz explorer, Wolfgang standard, Ernie Ball Axis, Ibanez USA , old 80's artist, Kramer Nightswan, Pacers, Barettas,.... It compares well with all of these. I like this guitar, picked it up cheap because I liked the necks on these guitars. For the $ you can't beat it. What makes this a great guitar is playability good pickups don't hurt either. If it were lost or stolen I would look for another one.

Same hardware as above but one guitar has a rose wood fret board the other a maple (I call them my blonde and red head twins !!).

Sound : 10
The volume and tone knobs are phenomenal. Change pickups and roll the volume down you can almost get a clean sound. This guitar makes a lot of cool tones. For sound I have boss effects (chorus, delay, flanger, and EQ) with an Ibanez DS-10 Distortion Charger into a Fender Dual Showman Head and cab. I can play any style of music ya want !

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have learned over the years to do my own setups on Floyd Rose guitars (I have four). Once I do a setup (new strings and intonation) I?m set until all the strings are broke or black. While working on my first CD I had spent a weekend recording. One day we had a marathon 14 hour session. The next morning, not only was the guitar still ready to rock but my shoulder was fine.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I use these guitars a lot (live and recording) for the most part without incident. The low E saddle on one broke in ? (probably cranking too hard) and the rest of the saddles are stiff. Notoriously the screws for the humbucker screw in as I play lowering the pickup and I need to adjust it every once in a while. Playing live they never go out of tune, too much (I bash the hell out of the bar).

No reason to call!

I?ve been playing for 18 years now. I got the first one in 1993 as a main Axe to replace my Ibanez RS 2. I never went back ! Over the years the miles pounded on the guitar (as did I) and I wanted a more reliable back up. I acquired a Hammer (not sure of the model) and an old American Kramer. Both are good guitars but there are significant differences in them to make switching less than comfortable. To my astonishment the guitar store I had originally purchased the blonde at had a red head awaiting me !! It had gotten lost in its case in the back and was mine for the taking. The two play almost identical but the rose wood?s tone has a little more bite to it. I know several people with this model and it is their meat and potato axe. If I found one I?d buy a 3rd.

Standard features are 3 Jackson active pickups (S/S/H), Jackson Floyd Rose, Volume, tone, and boost knobs, and a 5-way selector switch. Rosewood fingerboard w/ binding, sharkfin inlays, bolt-on maple neck. Neck is nice and thin with jumbo frets. "Desert Crackle" finish is white with black crackle. Not sure of the body wood. Tuners look like Schallers made for Jackson. It included a Jackson chainsaw case by SKB.

Sound : 9
The active pickups provide a variety of sounds. Most of them are loud and heavy. This is definately a rock guitar, yet it is versatile enough for other styles of music. But I doubt if I'll be playing very much country with it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I did not expect much, because I have until recently been a snob when it comes to foriegn guitars. This Japanese Charvel kicks ass. I have been playing for 20 years and love to play good guitars. I lots of very fine and expensive guitars, yet I always seen to reach for this one when its time to play. The action is great, the floyd stays in tune, and the guitar just looks cool. I was impressed from the moment I picked it up.

Reliability/Durability : 9
No problems

Other gear includes 1984 Kramer Barretta, 1987 Robin Medley, 1986 USA Hamer Chapparal, 2001 BC Rich Mockingbird, Gibson Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary Model, EVH Wolfgang Special, and several customs. I love all my guitars, but this was the best guitar for the money that I have ever purchased. If all 475's are like mine, I recommend them highly.

Made in Japan in the 80's. 22 Large ass frets. Solid top black with a gold cracle finish. 1 volume 1 tone 5-way switch selector. Pickups are s/s/h. Jackson/charvel active pickups very chunky sound, great for rock. But extremely versital with use of the other pickups and selector options. Neck is maple fret board is rosewood. The body style is strat. It has a floyd copy very solid no problems with keep tuning at all. The neck is on the thin side very fast. This comes with a case

Sound : 10
Heavy rock is what is was made to do and it delivers without hesitation. You can however get many different sounds with the neck pickups and the selector switch. I am running this through a fender M80 and a digitech multi-fx processor. Love this guitar if you find one buy it. You will be very please.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is incredible. You almost don't even need to touch the string to fret it. This is due to the awesome setup tech I use contact him at 5150guitars@home.com or check out his web site at http://epayments.com/teal/5150/ very cool site check it out. This guitar is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
No problem playing live, hardshell case is extremely solid, finish is awesome almost perfect and it's been around awhile. Large strap locks very solid, Never gig without a backup. Shit happens.

This is essentially the same 475 in the previous reviews; the main difference is that this one has a dark, dark green finish with a teeny metalflake shine. It looks almost black & is nearly flawless. This guitar exudes a solid vibe when you pick it up. I prefer medium frets but I dig the jumbo's on this piece, and I'm not really a metal guy. However this guitar really encourages mad Holdsworthian/EVH shredding. I would strongly encourage anyone to audition this model before shelling out megabucks for any number of other popular guitars as I consider this one of the sneaky gems in my collection. It is for sale, but only to the right home...there is absolutely no reason to sell it except I want a jazzbox now. Traders?

Sound : 9
It sounds exactly like what it is, a shredding machine! Many different tones available due to the active electronics, nice variety off of the tone pots as well- it is wise to keep the battery nice & fresh if you want the super edgy Charvel tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used (the set-up sucked) but a little love later, it was (and remains) astonishingly solid. Will stay in tune hanging on the wall for months!

Reliability/Durability : 10
One strap button failed. That's it. Fifteen plus years, one button. You know what I'm talking about- check it out if you have any inclination, you will dig it.

I have played for about 15 years...I now play a Strat w/EMG's, if my Charvel were stolen I'd cash the insurance for a 175! But it's still a low-flyer, i.e. a phenomenal guitar for the money. It beats any other shredder I've played (Ibanez, Yamaha, Music Man) and looks great to boot. I chose it because Jeff Beck used to play one (& I always wanted to play like Jeff Beck). It is a terrific piece & only on the block because I have a short attention span... :)
