This guitar is preatty old I'm not sure of when it was made.... I bought it for 35 bucks off a friend. When I got her she had a custom green paint job with white and black crackles in it (you can't get this from the factory but you can do it yourself). It didn't have any pickups (even though I heard the stock ones sucked anyways) so I put in a stock pickup out of an Arbor guitar I had laying around and hot wired it to the input. It wasn't a very hard project I finished it in a couple hours. Email me for pics at GunkHead3@aol.com if you're actually interested in seeing it.
Since I bought it was a project I can't rate it for features, that's way I put "No Opinion".

I play grunge, punk, metal, jazz, blues, and just about anything else you could think of. I must say this guitar has a GREAT tone for anything with a little distortion (ie metal) but it's clean tone could use a little work.

I did the action, intonation, truss rod, pickup height, installing the pickup ect...... so I can't comment on the factories setup.

This guitar is preatty good on reliability..... but then again I did all the work myself so I trust myself with it. However I would never gig without a back up period.

I've been playing a few years and I own a Thinline Telecaster an acoustic and a bass I really like this guitar more than my Tele that I payed a good deal more for. If this guitar was stolen I would buy me another becuase they're cheap and sound good.... definatly one of the best guitars in the price range (if not the best). I love the neck to death I mean the body is nice and all but you can't beat a Charvel neck period.
If you have anyquestion you may email me at GunkHead3@aol.com and I will answer them if I can.

I don't know when or where my guitar was made. It has 24 frets and its a red with black crackle on the body. it only has a volume control and a five way selector with three pickups(TWO SINGLE COIL AND ONE HUMBUCKER)the bridge is a floyd rose and the neck is and has locking nuts.

It very much suits my style of heavy metal. i used a Mashall Lead 100 Mosfet with a 4 by 12 crate cabinet and i have Boss ME-30 pedals. It sounds great it has a full sound to it, its better than my other two guitars that i have spent even more on. Its my first guitar and ill never get rid of it.

The action on it is great, but i wasn't getting the sound i wanted, it still sounded great, so i replaced the humbucker with a Duncan Designed Jackson pickup and took out the single coils because i don't use them at all any way, i still have the pickups. When i got the guitar it was pretty beat up from the person who had it before me,it was dropped many times, the neck seemed to be warped and it needed a really good clean up. my guitar teacher at the time fixed the neck for me and cleaned it up for me and put new strings on it. he plugged it in and played with it for a while, after that he offered to buy it from me, i said no.

I have played this guitar at many parties and nothing bad has happened. but there is one problem...one of the screws for the floyd rose has finaly stripped away and you "need" it to string that string up, i strung it though a hole in the of the floyd rose, but it really disappointed me when that happened, parts for a floyd rose are pricy.

I've been playing guitar for about 6 years and had that guitar all the way though my years of playing, its a good guitar and i play it everyday. if someone stole it my heart would be broken i would search the ends of the earth to find another one. i know of someone who has one just like it except that its pure white, but he won't sell it, he can't play and it just sits around...what a waste.

Bought this guitar in 89 it was an orange crackle great paint, humbucker at the bridge, single coil at the neck, Floyd Rose lisenced bridge that the trem. bar screwed in, three way switch, Ultra thin neck, cut-away body and no case. The factory set up was "Banjo" like but after tweeking with it replacing the lame pickups droping string gadges this guitar has served me for over 10 years now proudly. It paved the way for the Dinky and the Dinky reverse. I own several Jacksons and this one is still one of my favorites.

The factory fell asleep on this one. the pick-up covers looked nice but impeided the string field and had a very high impediance. The bridge was not appropriately adjusted The frets needed work. Time has shown that the finish on the bridge could have been better.

This guitar is a warrior! 10 years of heavy playing. the string saddle locks need occasional scrubbing. The paint is ultra tough. I replaced the strap buttons for lockers. I did replace one volume pot. But otherwise the most faithful guitar in that price range you could find.

Someone already described most of this. As far as I can tell the guitar was made in Taiwan. At least the Jackson trem (licensed Floyd Rose) was made there.

It's great for metal and rather OK for blues. I'd rather use a real strat for blues, though. With a good amp you can get an OK blues tone. At home, I use it with a Digitech RP-1 and a small solid state Marshall. With that gear you can get good metal sounds but it's hard to get a nice blues sound. I have used it with a Marshall JCM 900 and a 4x12 to produce great metal/hard rock sounds. I've also used a Marshall JMP-1 preamp for direct recording and the blues song we recorded actually sounds great (soundwise, that is...)

I bought it used and I think the guy in the shop had made a few adjustments. It was great when I got it. I also love the finish on the neck. I don't really know how to describe it but it feels good ;-)

I've had it for almost seven years now. For the first 3 or four years I played a lot with my band and never had any problems. One of the strap buttons seems to have been exchanged by the first owner. The finish is still good. There are a few scratches but those are from bumping into things etc. I could never afford a backup guitar when I was in a band but this one never let me down.

I used to have cheap strat copy and wanted something affordable with a humbucker and a locking trem. This guitar offered great value for money. My favourite feature is the neck. It's thin and has a lovely finish. It just feels good to play. I'm not completely satisfied with the sound but with the right amps and effects it's really quite OK. It has also proved more durable than many guitars my friends have owned. So, considering that this was a budget guitar, the overall rating is 8. I don't know if these are made anymore but if you play heavy metal and find one of these at a reasonable price you should consider buying it.

Not sure what year it was made...I think around 1987. The plate on it has the Forth Worth, TX factory. It has a 24 fret neck with rosewood top. Great action. I had the fret wire replaced with new jumbo frets. The body is painted red and black/crackle style. It has a 3-way selector switch for the s/H configuration. The tremelo is a Jackson/Floyd Rose patent. I love the nut-lock on it. You can practically use a quarter to loosen/tighten it as compared to a hex wrench style.

I mostly play rock/metal and this guitar matches my style. I am running it through a Marshall Valvestate 100W pushing 2 Crate 4x12's. The sound is awesome. The humbucker was replaced with a Duncan Custom but the single coil is still original. I can get any sound I want off of this guitar...from clean to full blown distortion.

Well, I bought this guitar off a friend back in 1989. As far as the set-up, it was great. I love the action on it...especially all the way up to the 24th fret. Well, as far as oxidation goes, I have had to remove the tremelo and overhaul it. What I mean by that, it started to develop rust on it from my playing. It was easy to clean. I took apart the tremelo and sanded down the rusted areas. Then, I repainted it black using car touch up paint from an auto parts store. The paint has been holding up to my playing. Not bad for having this guitar over 10 years!

This guitar has been through Hell and back with me several times and still going! I would compare this guitar up to any other in its style. I admit, I have played several gigs with this guitar and have had no back-up but I was confident. I would put this axe up to a Ginsu knife any day!

I have been playing for over 14 years and I am glad to say that I still have this guitar in my aresenal. I also use a Jackson and a Fender Strat. If this guitar was stolen...I know that I won't be able to replace it. The closest match to it is my Jackson. well...I think that this guitar kicks axe.
