Beautiful guitar...the action is smooth and fast. It has a solid original Floyd connected to an Alder body. This model has the chamferred access for extra fret clearance to reach that 24th fret. Beautiful Metallic Dark Green almost black finish. I believe the parts were manufactured to Charvel's standards in Japan and assembled in Ft. Worth Texas. This was the trend in the late 80's due to lowering overall costs for guitar mfgs.

Sound : 9
I believe the sound is really good if the neck and intonation are setup correct. Many guitarist try making their own adjustments and end up messing up the setup. Also, the pickups need to be adjusted to get the hot clean sound most guitarist are looking for otherwise it has a more tonal sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The pickups need to be set fairly close to the strings. This helps with the passive pickup system. I personally don't care for tone and pickup selector control, but it does provide flexibility for diverse playing. Let's face it, this axe was designed to throw your hair around and riff yourself to death. The original "Jackson" pickups - 2 single hot rails near the neck and a hum at the bridge are fair. I replaced my hum with a Seymore Duncan and it increased the crunch and sustain. The pots have always been clean with no noise or scratching, I'm impressed. My Fender Strat's pots would start cutting out and required either a detailed cleaning or replacement after a few years.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is built very strong. Very durable and long lasting. I had to take apart my cannon style guitar cord connector and clean the contacts and bend the ground bar in some, but after that it gave me no problems. The finish has no cracks from age. The pointy neck has to be carefully shifted around or you'll nail something with it, and possibly chip the finish. I believe this is a very dependable guitar. I don't play in a band, but I've never had problems with the hardware.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never tried.

Overall Rating : 10
I've had this guitar about 3 years, and really enjoy playing it through a Marshall AVT 150 Combo Amp fully distorted. I did end up adding my own strap locks for this guitar. This is a great axe and the original case was the Charvel Gray Chainsaw case.

-24 frets, great cutaways for access to upper frets.
-Two "hot rails" type pups in the neck and mid, normal humbucker at the bridge, don't know the make of the pups.
- don't know where or when this was made, as I bought used. It says Fort Worth, Tx on the neck plate. No idea of the type of wood in the body but the neck looks maple. Rosewood fretrboard. Bolt-on neck.
-Schaller 'Floyd Rose' tremolo.
-Great look and image for metal. black, slight metallic look visible in sunshine.

Sound : 10
-sound is awesome! Great for metal and hard rock. The 3 humbuckers are solid in any situation, with my Marshall JCM800 and Boss ME50. No squealing. Moved the pups very close to the strings and sounds better than when I go it.
-not too much top, not too much bass. Sits well in a mix.
-no noise from stage or neon lights - the least noise of any guitar I have used.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
-very low action, wonderful feel.
-very slim and fast neck, 'scalloped' cutaways front and back for acess to upper frets.
-slight noise from pickup selector but just need some switch cleaner.
-light weight, great for long gigs!
-very comfortable.
-some slight scratches but good overall finish.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Really well built, but as the neck is so slim, have to treat it carefully. No Neanderthal roadies please!
Hardware is generally very solid.
Would not gig without a backup, also because of time to change strings in case of breakage, due to the bridge/trem design. Would prefer a simpler trem.

Overall Rating : 10
Top class guitar. If it got lost or stolen, I would definately hunt for another one. Increadible value for the money. Best guitar I have ever used. I have an Ibanez RG320 as a backup and it's good but I only use it if I break a string at agig.

-i believe it was made some time between 1989 and 1990. not too sure about it's country of origin, there wasn't one on the neck plate.
-the guitar has a 24.75" scale neck with a rosewood(i believe it is) fretboard. The fretboard was fited with 24 jumbo frets.
-one volume and tone control and a five way selector switch.
-the pickups are two "hot rails" type pickups in the neck and middle positions and a normal humbucker at the bridge, not sure on the make as there were no names on the pickups.
-I believe the body to be made of alder, unless someone can confirm otherwise for me and the neck is maple, joined to the body via a four bolt neck joint.
-It's finished in kind of a british racing green finish with metal flakes and has six in line jackson tuners on the standard jackson style pointed headstock. the logo was written in the Jackson style cursive, which is not something i have seen on many Charvels
-it's fitted with a recessed Floyd rose tremolo made by schaller with the charvel logo on it (also in cursive), so i assume the guitar is all original

Sound : 8
-I play metal mostly and the guitar is perfectly suited for it... it gives off a tone reminiscent of late 80s/early 90s megadeth.
-i use it ran through an electro harmonix big muff and a dan electro back talk delay into a peavey amplifier.
-the guitar has very little excess noise.
-the sound is very midrangey, due mostly to the pickups i think..they could definately be better.
-as far as likes and dislikes go.....i love the tremolo system and the simplicity of the controls. Could do without the pickups though.. i was thinking of replacing the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Evolution or a X2N

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
-i bought it in a pawn shop, the previous owner had the floyd too low and the pickups to high..... once i fixed that, the guitar had wonderful action

-it has some cosmetic flaws... the paint is chipped on the lower edge, near the output jack and the tone knob cover was pretty loose, but that was easily fixed.

Reliability/Durability : 10
-i have never played the guitar in a live setting, but i'm sure it could hold up. The finish is very solid......the chips were probably from mishandling.
-the strap buttons are very solid and the guitar has so far proven to be very dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
-i've been playing since i was 13, for about six years. If it were stolen, i would definately buy another one.... hell....i would buy another now if i could find one. I love the tremolo system and the wide, flat fretboard. I compared it to a Charvel model A and a Jackson DK model and it seemed to have the best bang for the buck. It would, however, benefit from having a Khaler Tremolo instead of the floyd.

Mine was made in 1990 in Japan.
It's a beautiful red sparkle finish, with matching headstock.
Typical icepick style headstock with the newer Jackson-style logo.
I think the body is alder, solid top. 24.75" scale.
It's got 24 jumbo frets, rosewood fretboard, nice maple bolt-on neck.
1 tone control, 1 volume control, 5 way switch
Bridge pickup is Jackson J85 standard humbucker.
Middle and neck pickups are Jackson J200R single coil size rail humbuckers. All pickups are passive.
The body style is Soloist, which is Strat shaped but with nice deep scalloped back, neck joint, and right horn. Really nice.
The bridge is a recessed locking Schaller Floyd Rose in black gunmetal finish. Excellent quality! Never goes out of tune.
All black hardware.
Jackson tuners.

Sound : 10
I mostly play classic rock. From Black Sabbath to Pink Floyd to Van Halan, to Boston. My amps are a modified Univox U65G (awesome!) and a Fender Eighty-Five. For effects I usually use only an Ibanez DM1000 digital delay and a Boss Heavy Metal. I also have a DigiTech RP300 processor.

I have played a lot of guitars, and almost none sound as good or are as versatile as this one. When I got it, the pickups were miswired and didn't all sound great, but I rewired them and now they all sound incredible. By tweaking the volume and tone controls, I feel I can create any sound. From muddied to crystal clear. It has a very fat, present tone. Not too bright though. Not noisy at all. Just perfect.

The bridge and middle J200Rs seem to model the Hot Rail and Cool Rail, even though they're the same pickup, they sound quite different! And the J85 is a very bluesy sounding standard humbucker.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I got this guitar used, and had it shipped to me. When I got it, it needed work. The pickups were miswired and the Floyd needed a major setup. Once I did that, everything was cool. A couple of screws on the Floyd were rusty, but I cleaned them with steel wool and they look like new now.

This guitar has been around the block a few times, and shows signs of being played. Nothing major though. Just light scratches.

Other than some of the screws rusting on the Floyd, I have no complaints.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is solid. I have no doubt that with reasonable care it will last forever. The finish seems fine. The guitar seems dependable.
I would never gig without a backup, no matter what the first guitar is, but I think this is about as reliable as you'll get.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Charvel, Jackson, or Fender.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 5 years. Aside from this one, I also own a Charvel Fusion Special, a Fender '57 Strat reissue, an El Degas Les Paul Custom, and a Ritmo T2 spanish classical. My amps are a modified Univox U65G and a Fender Eighty-Five. My effects are an Ibanez DM1000 digital delay, a Boss Heavy Metal, and a DigiTech RP300.

If this guitar were lost or stolen, I would definitely look for another one. I love everything about it. The body shape, the finish, the hardware, and especially the pickups. Indredible value for the money. I've owned and played various Charvels and Jacksons over the years and this is definitely my favorite.

Hi, my name is Alex and I live in north-east of Italy.
I bought tha Charvel Custom Fusion at the beginning of '92 and I'm still using it. This guitar has the perfect Jackson style having a 24-frets not curved keyboard. I can't tell you the kind of wood but it's a dark color. Solid top, 1 knob to control the valume and a second one for the tone, 5 positions switch and the input jack on the body profile. The pickups configuration is H/H/H even if the bridge & middle are mini-humbuckers (single-coil sized).
My own was silver-metallic painted (amazing!), Floyd-Rose licensed bridge & Jumbo frets

Sound : 6
No clean sound at all but fat and moogy. The bridge pick up doesn't scream, it produces a warm-distorted tone and so, after few years, I replaced with a DiMarzio, more aggressive.
After a while I did the same with the resting others two humbuckers. Now I use Fender Texas Flood on neck and EMG single-coil on middle. Anyway even using singles the guitar doesn't reach clean and brilliant sound. Then I think it's good for pop rock or rock blues.
My trials were made using Behringer Composer, Marshall JMP1, Ada MP1, Boss SX700, Alesis Midiverb III, Rocktron and Marshall amplifiers, two Marshall 1912 cabinets

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Charvel knew how to set it! Mid-low action, no noise at all and no flaws. After more then ten years (I've used it VERY often) the bridge starts to gimme problems about intonation and strings locking so I'm going to replace it. No more troubles

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm not going to use it so often as the past because it dosen't belong the funky style I'm actually playin' even if it appears in a very good condition, but I'll keep it because its comfortable feeling, soft string tension (0,09 - 0,42 string gauge) and.. its color!

Customer Support : No Opinion
The shop had moved far away from my town. All the maintenances and subsitutions were made by a young guy guitar producer living near here

Overall Rating : 6
I'm playing since the age of seventeen (now I'm thirtyone years old). I was so happy about that buying because it sounded so 'rocky' and I was on it. Now, after my meavy-metal, pop and West Coast style ages I need my Fender Stratocaster USA modified and the Fender Prodigy to play discofunky music. That's all, I wouldn'y buy it again.

got it 2nd hand but almost brand new ,in very good condiction.Made in Japen around 1990 ,24 jumbo frets rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlay.1 tone 1 volume 5 way switch.H/H/H pickup configuration.1 single coil size hum at neck and the same stuff in the middle,a Charvel P-90 stander size hum at bridge.passive electronics. Dinky style body ,i think it's alder ,not too sure.solid top.matalic blue and color matched head stock.6 inline jackson tuner, black hardwear.double lock Floyd Rose style bridge made in German by Schaller. come with a Charvel factory case made by SKB.

Sound : 8
bass on the wiring of the single coil size humbucker, they probbly are Seymour Duncan costom made for jackson.pritty high out-put.but the bridge pickup is not good at all,i replace it with a Dimarzio Super Distortio.the original wiring make the sound very muddy ,so i rewire it to stander S.P.S. . now i have the stander hum sin hum config.(because i like the way it sounds on Ibanez).and the neck pickup has a lot bass attack.i also add a compacitor at the volume pot to allow some treble to by-pass.
so after all i 've done , the guitar now has a pritty warm and full sound.compair it with my Ibanez RG750 ,it's not bad at all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
got it 2nd hand ,so really have no idea about the factory setup.i did a little adjustment, the action is low now.plays good.
i used to jam with Ibanez Rg,so at first the neck is a little 'thick' for me,but if you are used to deal with Jackson ,you 'll feel great.other than that ,this guitr is great.noise free.the only think that make me feel sad is the Tone and the Volume pot ,they don do the job well .

Reliability/Durability : 8
very well built, very solid.i 'm sure i can depend on it.i will play it live with out a back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never deal with it.

Overall Rating : 9
