Features : 9
A precise Gibson Les Paul Custom copy
1:1
except
trussrodcover (3 screws instead of 2)
slightly different diamond peghead inlay

Mahagony body and neck
neck shape nice 60s, a bit fatter than on the LP-S
weight around 4.5 kg
maybe maple top (not varified but announced in some catalogues)
black high gloss finish
golden hardware
tune-o-matic
closed tuners
2 passive Humbucking PUs with golden cover (by Chevy)
1 3 position switch
2 tone controlls
2 volume controlls
built araound 1990-91

Sound : 9
a warm medium output PAF-like signal from both PUs,
maybe a little flat in upper mid-range frequencies,
but quite exactly what you expect from a mahagony-type LP
the original pots were a mess (as on all Chevy/Chery/Cheri series)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
smooth LP Custom, if you like the original, no doubt this one will fit your needs.
perfect copy, long tension neck, Gibson shaping

while some customers suffer from microphonic PU in other Chevy LPs, this one doesn't whistle even when driven through high gain.

Reliability/Durability : 10
solid craftmanship
nothing to add

Customer Support : No Opinion
firm doesn't exist any more

Overall Rating : No Opinion
a great copy of the original LP type
compared to the LP-S version of the Chevy, it is deeper in tone (exactly what one would expect from the custom)

Features : 9
nice Gibson copy, quite detailed, even the trussrod hole has the right form :-D
4.5 kg weight (ufff...)
flat 60s neck profile
wood as described in the other reviews

Sound : 10
original PUs changed with DiMarzio DP 100/F at bridge, DP 104 at neck.
Rich and sweet, sustaining and punchy, depending on what gain used.
Compared it to several LPs (Epiphone, Tokai, Gibson, Vinatge, Aria) nothing left to wish. A perfect LP.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the maple top is quite simple, but nice enough.
at one edge the binding is giving a look at the maple top from aside.
finish perfect.

The pots on all Chevy/Chery/Chevi guitars are a mess, rude on/off-switches that tend to make noise. First and maybe only thing to change.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
built 1990, still everything ok.

Customer Support : No Opinion
firm doesn't exit any more.

Overall Rating : 9
perfect copy.

I play classic rock and blues. Even if it is only a copy, this Chevy has the warm, rich, full and loud sound of a Les Paul. I play it mostly through a 1972 Fender Champ, but also through a 1995? Trace Elliott Velocette and a 1968 Sound Daytone-20, all of them are full tube, of course. No noise at all. This guitar is quite versatile, as long as you stay in blues/rock styles. Clear sound is sometimes lacking of brightness, especially on rhythm position.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Beautiful cherry sunburst finish, pearl trapezoid inlays.
The guitar stays in tune, and the action is low.
The neck is comfortable as can be.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It was my first electric guitar. I have owned it since 1994 (used), never had any problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them. And the company does not exist anymore.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 16 years. I own a lot of guitars, including a 1978 american Fender telecaster, an american Fender stratocaster deluxe (with active pickups)... This one is still one of my favourites. It is just impossible in 2008 to get a LP of that quality for a similar price.
I would be the end of the world if it were stolen, because so few of them were produced that it would be very difficult to replace it.

A very good LP copy.
Cherry Sunburst Finish.
Chrome hardware.
Full mahogany body & neck, maple top, tune-o-matic.
Tonerider rocksong pickups (not original pickups).
3 wayswitch, 2 volume knobs, two sound knobs.

Sound : 9
I don't know the original sound becourse the pickups where replaced.
Long sustain and with the toneriders a very warm blues sound.
High output but still very warm, maybe a little bright om a tele or strat but not in this LP.
I have a ESP 901, a larrivee solidbody (with adams pickups) and a Godin G4000. The cheri has not the agression of the esp or the soft harmonics of the larrivee, but its a very good mix (like the g4000).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action:
Just how I want it.

Finish:
Guitar is about 20 years old, hardware is in great condition.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It looks very solid, nice craftmanship. no fretwear.
Very good paint, almost to good a guitar of this age has to look used.
I would use it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
A very, very good LP copy.
Nicely made with lots of sustain and the right looks.
Upgraded with the Toneriders its a nice player, very smooth, creamy and great for blues or rock.

I once owned this fine Les Paul copy in the early '90s. It was my beginner's guitar, and I only gave it up for my love to Gibson SG's and the heavy weight.
It had the classic look of a Les Paul Standard, with Cherry Sunburst Finish, two zebra humbuckers and chrome hardware. Full mahogany body & neck, maple top, tune-o-matic. I bought it with a gig bag for 800 DEM and I believe this was one of the better LP copies, the woods and craftmanship were great. But soon, I exchanged the humbuckers and the tuners: DiMarzio Super2 (Neck) and Super Distortion (bridge), and Schaller Kluson type tuners. Plus, I added a parallel/serial switch to the neck PU. original, I believe. The 8 rating is for the pickups.

Sound : 8
The original PU's were ok, but the exchange made the guitar equal to a DiMarzio equipped original Les Paul. Classic Les Paul Sound, rich and full, nice harmonics, good playability. The parallel mode of the neck PU adds a P-90-like sound option, which is particularly nice for clean sounds. At that time I played a Peavey Envoy 110 and later a Hughes&Kettner Attax 100 combo, which were my beginner's amps. Along with the PU change I bought a Marshall 4500 Dual Reverb. For my sound at the time the guitar was great. Then I didn't play it for about 5 years, and when I sold it to our singer, and played it for the last time with my ENGL head, I was really surprised how good it actually sounded. Again only 8 for the only-ok-PU's, with good PU's 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As far as I remember (I was a beginner) the guitar came in good set-up, so no problems with that. For the price superiour finish and woods, ok hardware, price range standard.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Never had problems with the guitar, althuogh, I seldomly used it for gigs.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
Actaully I learned to play on this guitar - it was my fisrt, and developed my sound and style. If you can get one cheap, add some good PU's and perhaps better hardware, and you have a pro-guitar for under 500 EUR.
