Lefty model, 2 P-90's, 2 vol., 2 tone, 3 way selector- you get the idea. Finish is totally unique. The grain in the mahogany body was filled with white filler. The basic guitar's color is black with white highlights in the grain. Totally unique, and totally beautiful. Pearloid overlay on the headstock and pearloid pickguard. Mahogany neck, TOM bridge and stop tailpiece. Nicely rounded neck that is fairly substantial- sort of like a new 50's LP neck. The 24 7/8" neck is a little hard to get used to- either your a Fender scale person or your a Gibson scale person. This is somewhere in between but it allows for somewhat easy bends and still has a Fendery sort of snap.

Sound : 10
I play in a roots band that does a lot of twangy rock and roll and some country and this bridges the gap between my SG and my Tele- it cuts but doesn't cut your head off. I use some slap back delays and it's a much meatier sound than a Fender style guitar. The neck pickup is great for blues or chordal rhythms. Using both pickups doesn't seem to drive and amp as hard as using just one of the pickups and this is what I've been using for any part that calls for extra clarity.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Played it as is right out of the case. Excellent string to string clarity and medium action- just the way I like it. The bridge pickup seemed a little louder at first but after I played it for awhile it seemed to be in balance with the neck pickup so I left it alone. The guitar is flawless in it's fit and finish. Pretty pricey for a LP Special knock- off but worth it. Nothing to criticize here.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Tone-Pros hardware is as solid as it comes- the guitar just rings like hell unamplified. Gotoh tuners, beautifully cut nut, and the contours are just right. Shake it like hell and you'll hear not rattles whatsoever. I will gig with it without reservation.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them yet but they're still small enough to be hands on I guess.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing for 20 years, owned a lot of gear and the pieces I still own are the ones I'll keep until I can no longer play. This guitar definitely makes the cut. If it was stolen I'd be really pissed! For what I do this guitar just feel right- it can do blues, twang, country, rock and roll, and probably jazz on the neck pickup.

2008 left handed model. standard setup. Tobacco burst. Lollar p 90 pickups.

Sound : 8
I like the low end on this guitar. It is very playable and the tone is better than any other guitar I have ever owned. However I am not a blues player. I play rock and the guitar is great for that. I am not the best player but I wanted a really good guitar that would last me the rest of my life without upgrading anymore. It sounds a lot like mountain's mississippi queen plugged straight into my kendrick tube amp. Really close to the sound mountain had.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Plays really nice. I was surprised how easy it was to play. Fit and finish are perfect. Very well built.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Have not had it very long but it is a good guitar. I would not ecpect problems from it for a long time as long as it is cared for. Very well built.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Honestly have no dealings with customer support.

Overall Rating : 8
After 13 years of going through various lefty guitars I found this. I am not really that great of a guitarist but I can play enough to appreciate this guitar. It is my hobby and this guitar should last me as long as I live.

I have a few amps. I am at the point in my life where I do not intend to buy another elecric guitar ever, I have to stop it's a sickness. This one sounds good for classic and hard rock to my ears, it really growls. I don't think it is really bluesy sounding mainly dark and agressive. Again though I am not a blues player so it may be my technique.

I think it sounds much better than the other 5 lefty electrics I have owned. I would reccomend you try one out. Much better than the les paul I traded in on it.

Made 2007 in solid mahogany with a simple configuration involving two P90's made by Lollar (the best in my experience). Singlecut LP Junior style instrument that I use for slide - simplicity itself.

Sound : 10
Ideal for playing blues and jazzy slide lines, thick sound that cuts through nicely. Played through Two-Rock amps and occasionally a Custom Audio Electronics OD100. Some variety between the neck and bridge pickups but it is the simplicity and quality that makes it ideal for slide work.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Well set up pickups but needed altering for the slide by raising the action. Finish perfact but a simple instrument where a good fit and finish should be straightforward, especially at this price point.

Reliability/Durability : 4
Guitar durable, finish seems fine BUT, and it is a big but, I have big troubles with the tuners which never work well and one has broken.

Customer Support : 1
Trying to get the tuners replaced or repaired through the approved retail outlet has proved near impossible. Good after sales service is so important and this is wanting. What a shame that you have no zero or minus option in the rating.

Overall Rating : 3
Played for 40 years and own only boutique gear. I wish I had found out about Collings customer care before buying or I would not have bothered. As good as the guitar is - it is useless if parts don't work and can't be replaced.

Basic 3-way with twin tone and volume controls. Lollar P90 type pups. South American mahogany body, light weight and resonant, mahogany neck with fine E Indian rosewood board which looks like Brazilian

Sound : 10
Lollar p/ups - great clarity and bluesy sound, particularly at neck. P90s are always noisier than h/bs but these are pretty quiet

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is an outsnadingly built guitar. The join between the mahogany neck and rosewood board is seamless. The finger board itself is magnificent - deep high density rosewood which I should have guessed was Braxilian but is apparently E Indian. The body is lightweight, about 7 pounds, and is mad from a mahogany sourced from S America similar to the Honduran used by Gibson in the late 50s and 60s. It is extremely resonant - this guitar has wonderful un-plugged acoustics. The action is low and fast - not quite as fast as the CL DeLuxe I tried but pretty good, and the guitar is half the price of the CL DL.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is one of the best made guitars I have ever played. I can't see how it could have been improved.

Don't know

Been playing on and off for 40 years. Own or have owned the best. This is arguably the best of the lot although I accept there is always a tendency to eulogise about new acquisitions if they are good. Guitars such as these put Gibson and Fender to shame and, in my opinion, blow PRS away too. The latter are beautifully made but in my experience emphasise power at the expense of clarity. In a way I wish I had never come across it because in truth it has rendered most of my others redundant. I have given it an 8 because the price in the UK is much higher than the US eqyuivalent, even allowing for VAT and duty, and I resent this approach. I may yet buy a City Limits and, having seen the consistency of quality in these guitars, will buy one from a US retailer and save 30%+ on the UK price even after paying shipping, taxes and duty. UK pricing is aggressive and unfair in my view.

The same as an old LP Special. But way better. Orange transculent. Slap my mamma. Check the website...

Sound : 10
Collings Electrics??? and Lollar P-90's!!! Have to have it...So I got it, Total Tonal Nirvana, You can tell that this masterpiece has an Acoustic Soul... It just rings out unlike any electric that I have ever Played. My Carr Slant 6v and the 290 are Lethal. Kicked me right in the nuts. Rock-N- F'n Roll. I just threw away all of my vintage G&L's and effects pedals. Don't need 'em anymore. Pure fundementals, harmonics, overtones... Sit down Angus.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect.................... It's a Collings............

OK, So I got it, Total Tonal Nirvana, but the bottom-side cutaway just let it slide off my lap, like an ovation roundback, I hate Ovations just for that very reason. Also my gutt wasn't fittin' the upper cutaway just right so I called the boys in Austin. Talked to Steve, Bill's right hand man, what a guy!!! He listened to what I wanted and made it happen!!! Took care of the return shipping and about two weeks ago the new one arrived, no lower route with upper contour more centered like a strat, also with the front forearm contour, all handcarved by Mr. Bill Collings himself... Fits like a glove. Ya baby... Falls right into the 'Rock" position now when standing. This guitar is mine... ...Now that is service..

Overall Rating : 10
This 290 Rings like a bell. It's light and resonant unlike anything that I have ever played, and I have been collecting guitars since the early 1980's. An Acoustic Soul no doubt. And the clear orange finish is magnificent. Try to steal it... you would'nt survive viscious mauling....
