CORT EVL-K4, 2007, made in Indonesia
24 frets.
1 master vol., 1 master tone, 1 three way toggle.
pair EMG HZ H4, H/H pickup config., passive.
bolt-on construction, maple neck, 25.5 scale-length.
mahogany body, carved-top, double cutaway, satin finish.
Cort branded Floyd Rose License double locking tremolo (Fender spaced).
non-locking tuners.
no binding, no nonsense! cool satin black finish
the space between the outer strings (1st and 6th string) and the fretboard's side were too narrow, thus the outer strings would fall offside sometimes, so annoying, especially when i play some fast licks in 1st-string. i'm planning to install FloydRose Pro tremolo (Gibson spaced) as the solution, but i have too wait for sufficient cash... :(
buzzing....? yes
some fretworks were done by me, with some sandpapers (lol)
and that makes the rating lower....

I bought this guitar 'cause of the pickups... its passive EMG, made in USA!!
suits my hobby... yesshh i'm just an eager-hobby-guitarist, plays (cover) some Rock & Metal music.
No noise! with my amp; Roland CUBE 20X,
no stompbox or additional effects.
Okay... honestly, i'm planning to replace the neck pickup with EMG HZ H2 for tonal varieties...
in my opinion, CORT should install EMG HZ H4 & H2 config. the H2 has lower inductance compare to H4...

Factory setup???? no opinion
i replaced the string right away
I did all Tremolo setup by myself, at the store!
with an electronic tuner, screwdriver & allen tools
that makes the rating down... too!
where's the storebuddy?? he just watching me did all the setups... and praise me (lol)
few days after i purchase it, i did all the neck-setup, the actions, spring-setup, pickup height adjustment, etc, etc.
and... Finally, dive-bombing is so nice... pinching harmonics are ALIVE!!

Live onstage?? gigs?? i dunno... i just play Live in my room
there's a friend who borrowed it to a gig, he said "its a metal guitar, not for Arctic Monkeys stuffs..."

been playing since 1997, now its my only guitar. i can't compare it to other guitar.
i wish it had a sustainer, and MAB string-dampener.
if it were stole... i may cry, filled with anger, and curse that "kampret"
again, the favorite feature is the pickup, and i wonder 'bout sound variety if i install EMG HZ Hs in neck position

I mainly play heavy and death metal.
I plug it in through a Zoom and it blasts away.
Really good for metal.
Real heavy sound with both pickups on.
The neck one is gud for clean playin.
Lacks a little sustain.

The factory setup was crappy.
It took me lot of time to get the floyd in tune.
The bridge as such is gud.
No fret buzzing on very low action.
Finishing was top notch.
The satin body shines like anything and pentagram inlays look cool.

Made in Indonesia I think. 24 (large) frets, no sharp edges. 2 EMG-HZ's (passive). Volume, tone & 3-way toggle. The knobs have rubber grip rings around them, kinda nice, but they are too deep for the pot shafts and rub on the body. The licensed Floyd Rose is my favorite one, could be a fluke but it feels great and is very smooth. I did have to file the blades on it at first though. I also blocked it so now it only dives, but that helps it return to pitch perfectly of course. Neck is 25 1/2" scale, 42mm nut, 50mm @ 12th fret, 54mm @ 24th fret. Mother-of-plastic pentagram inlays, average low end rosewood but gets the job done. Nice sealed tuners. All the hardware is matte black also.

It has a decent tone, kinda mediocre, it's exactly what you would expect. Nice harmonics

I can't comment on the factory setup, since I got it off eBay but it was a basket case when I got it. Loose tuning machines, screws rattling around inside it, loose jack & strap buttons. One definite factory flaw was neck was not aligned with the strings, they were too close to the treble side and the high E would easily slip off the frets. That was fixed by my local luthier. Also, there is a design flaw in the way the the nut is attached to the neck. They use short little wood screws, and they were stripped out of the rather soft wood, had to epoxy that.

After all the work I have a nice backup guitar, that is pretty much bulletproof. Which is exactly why I bought it. It cost me $150 US and a $40 trip to the repair shop, as well as a couple days of my time.

been playing 15 years or so, I have 10 guitars, a few are $1000+ but most are middle of the road with upgrades to make them nicer. I would rather have gotten the EVL-K6 I think. This is a great guitar for a person with medium (like myself, 3.25" middle finger, 4.5" palm vertically) to smaller hands, due to the exceptionally small neck, as long as it is setup nice.

Satin black finish, pentagram inlays, licensed floyd rose tremelo, 25.5 scale length, 24 jumbo frets, 1x volume , 1x tone, 3 way switch, EMG-hz pickups, its your run of the mill budget metal guitar .

This guitar has an alright sound, the passive emgs are not the best but get the job done.
I use this guitar like this EVL-K4>zoom g2.1u>mxr 109>behringer b180.
i have a pretty poor rig so i cannot judge it to well sound wise.
this guitar has a more dark sound due to the mahogany body.
the cleans on this guitar are actually alright despise the pickups.

the guitar was not set up properly when i recieved it, however one of the strong points of this guitar is that when it is set up correctly it plays like a beast.
however the licensed tremelo does not do to well when doing excessive whammy dives, however it it almost never goes out of tune when doing tasteful fluttering effects.
I currently have an extremely low action and have minimal fret buzz.
every thing else seems fine , there were no loose screws, or flaws in the finish.

i've had this guitar for about a year and it has not troubled me at all yet, it seems pretty durable and i would gig with it, though i would probably bring a backup because if you brake a string on a Floyd rose 5 minutes before a gig your screwed.
the satin effect is starting to come off in areas were your body contacts it (above the bridge) but that is to be expected with guiatrs with a satin finish.

I have been playing for about four years, if i were lost or stolen i would probably go and buy its counterpart, the EVL-K6 as it has active pickups, better tremelo ,neck through build for only a few hundred more.
however this is an extremely playable guitar that can handle extremely low actions, and has fairly good upper fret access.
i would recommend this guitar for novice/intermediate players.
