China-made dreadnought with solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. Finish (very thin but not easily scratched, great!) on mine is matte satin, the guy at the shop said the don't make 'em anymore with this finish.. dunno and I don't really care actually. Mine was made in 2006. Neck has a medium thickness, nothing wrong with that.

I play mostly Joh Frusciante (ie. lots of strumming) and some picking songs, I'm still working on that. When strummed it sounds surprisingly loud and warm, woth lots of treble. Maybe a little too much treble but then you should try a thicker pick (I use Dunlop 500 series .96 mm), that'll give you more bass response. When picked (fingers or thumbpick) it's sound is a bit more balanced. I still have the same strings (D'Addario 80/20s) on it as I bought it with about 6 months ago and it actually sounds pretty good.

Factory setup is very high but I haven't changed it, I got used to it and I don't think it's a bad thing, this way chords ring out without any buzz. I also like training my speed on it, which then gives me a tremendous advantage when switching to my easy playing electric (Cort S2600, love it!). The rest of the guitar is built properly, wood looks quite good, all seams are decent, tuners are good (not like Grovers but they'll do). finish is applied evenly and the intonation on mine is very good, almost perfect.

I won't be playing this one live. I'm having a gig in 3 weeks where I'll be playing acoustic but I borrowed one with a pickup since I want to control my sound and not have the sound technician do that. Overall, it looks pretty sturdy to me though, finish is thin but it's hard enough to withstand some bumps. Overall impression is very sturdy.

Never dealt with Cort so I don't know. The warranty I have comes from my local shop and is about a year or so and lifetime service =D.. pretty cool huh?

I've been playing for almost 2 years now, and this is my first acoustic. I just wanted an acoustic that wouldn't cost me a fortune but still had a fair degree of quality. I guess you can't get much better for the price than this. If it were lost/stolen I'd probably buy an acoustic with a pickup, and that might well be a Cort though. I compared it to Ibanez, Simon & Patrick, Seagull and Washburn acoustics but I bought this one because I preferred it to the Ibanez. The others were a tad too expensive and about the same quality.

Made in China. Dove-tail neck joint and a solid top. Back and sides look sort of mahogany, but you never know. The top is a fairly good-looking piece of spruce. Neck is average thickness, a bit too skinny for my tastes. Very Martin looking, i.e. understated cosmetics -- that's a good thing.

Punchy and surprisingly loud. The solid top and thin finish makes a world of difference when compared to the typical plastic-coated plywood boxes you'd normally find in this price range. Really lacks bottom end. Bright and kind of harsh, but again, for the money it's not half-bad. It will hopefully open up after a few months.

Really surprised by how good the action, fit and finish were right off the shelf at the music store. Haven't had to do anything to it... yet. Intonation seems a tad wonky. The frets are nice and clean. The back and sides are a bit, I dunno, "pourous" ? Very thin satin finish. Hopefully it will hold up but, heck, for the price if it completely falls apart in a year or two I'll have gotten my money's worth.

I'm currently residing in Korea and was looking for a cheap acoustic to keep me happy for my year here. Despite millions of guitars being made here in Korea, most it seems are export only, so the stores have Cort and little else. Most Chinese and Korean acoustics are too heavy on the cosmetics and light on the stuff that really counts: wood, construction and tone. Which is what really made this guitar jump off the wall. I like the understated, classic Martin style of the cosmetics. I like the clean-looking spruce top and fairly standard headstock and bridge shape. Above all, the tone and playability make it a bargain. If you're looking for something that plays well and sounds decent, I can't honestly see choosing a $400-$500 budget American or Canadian guitar over one of these Corts.

Even though I really don't much like my Cort 100, with the right strings it sounds good. I use it mic'd with an AT 4033 when I want an extremely bright sound. Even bass tones work well. So all in all, if I need a particular bright almost dobro twang, I bring out the cort.

Setup from factory is dreadful and with the beginner in mind it's hard on the fingers and isn't very forgiving. Maybe it works well for learning chords, but finger picking and anything that resembles actual guitar playing, get something else.

I've been playing since the age of 10. I'm now 43. Work it out.
Let's not pretend that this axe has any more merits then it's bright sound and cheap price, everything else is either average or below. I would not be sad if it were stolen.

This is where it gets bad.The action was high at the store but it sounded good.I figured I could shave the saddle down and tweak the truss rod to get the action down..WRONG!The bridge was way too high and I had to plain it down. That sucks on a new guitar. The finish was fine as was every thing else. But,I hated doing a major job on a new guitar...

The guitar has a solid spruce top with laminated mahogany back and sides with a dovetail joint neck. Like others at this price, it has 20 Frets, rosewood fingerboard and fairly nicely sized tuners. Make what you will from it but ?Handcrafted in China? appears inside the guitar (for me... "handcrafted": cool, but cant say the same for "China").
Beautiful to look at but my guitars strap button comes out with just a slight pull. In addition, one corner on the pick guard is popping out. These are however only noticable upon very close inspection and will not affect its sound.

The Earth100?s sound really jumps out at you. Strumming it is a pleasure. The notes all ring in harmony with sustain even at higher volumes. Unfortunately however, on very close inspection, base notes in chords may muddy-up the sound a bit.
Playing chords further up the fret board doesn?t sacrifice volume, clarity or sustain (many in this price range do). As for single notes, its hard to find any faults throughout the length of the board.

Lucky for me, I one day stumbled into Better Music, Phillip, Canberra. I have dealt, recommended and will continue to do so there. They are willing to set-up guitars until your liking. In addition I had a choice of three 100?s.
As for what came out of the factory, everything is pretty much clean. Clean lines, markers and inlay. Well built but lacking that one final luthiers inspection.

Live playing? Sure? any artist could do better with it than I could with a $15 000 Martin (on or off stage). It does however feel light but by no means tacky- by all means its usable but be decent. Everything on it will seem to last. Furthermore, as it is a spruce top so I?m expecting it to improve a little with time.

I?ve been playing for over a year. I love to read an awful lot on playing, gear and artists. I?ve previously owned a low model Yamaha acoustic but sold it for a Yamaha Pacifica 112- great guitar that 112 was. Visiting the States, I purchased a Mex Tele (Yanks have the best deals on gear by far). Missing the sound of an acoustic and without the need for two electrics at my level, I sold the 112 for this Cort.
The COrt is a really good buy at this price. I don?t believe there is anything that comes close to it even at slightly higher prices. It is a reputable brand but spending such money on a great sounding guitar does raise questions such as how reliable is the Custom Cort bracing design or have other important areas such as the truss rod. Sometimes, I think its better buying from a big brand name rather than a great sounding instrument.

These are all the same- good Solid spruce top, martin X braced construction, maple back and sides, light satin tone finish, and upgrade tuners, no electronics, rosewood(?) bridge, crafted plastic saddlepiece and nut that could stand to be replaced.
I am not sure, but I think this is made in the same Korean MEGA factory where Samicks, Fender acoustics and a whole host of other cheapy plywood brands are ground out - most I have tried are tough durable instruments that have OK sound and playability.
No fancy frills, inexpensive rosette and binding materials. This was obviously designed by someone who knew what to spend money on in a budget guitar and what not to spend it on- the BEST combination of features on any budget guitar I have seen.

Bought used but not adjusted I think from factory. This korean factory setup, like any other mass produced factory setup sucks-they set them high to avoid fret buzz causing them to be shipped back as seconds- playability suffers as the result of the lesser of two evils-The thing is in tune tho and that is more important.

Mine has some dings- it will have a lot more when I am done with it. Wouldnt gig with it full time- EXCELLENT BACKUP GUITAR good hardware- tone finish isnt as durable but who cares what the thing looks like after a while- what matters more is how it sounds.

I have been playing guitar for 25 years- once professionally in the days of heavy metal and now for fun. Bought this as a pawnshop prize used for $100.00 CDN. I wanted a beach/get drunk at a party and bang out some tunes kind of instrument to keep my '80s top line Takamine from the "inevitable pinhole burns". I started with Yamaha's which I gnerally dont like and have played and owned many highend instruments inc Martins, Larivee, Taylor as well as the Godin "Lapatrie, Que" makes over the years.
Let me tell you that this is first class instrument, regardless of price. To be able to get away from the plywood crap at this price range is a dream come true. Excellent projection, balanced full range sound (not as sweet as the Tak or Taylor, not as boomy/balsy/bluesy as the Norman/Lapatrie- more like a Martin-But hey- after all Martins arent BAD instruments for this cheapy to be compared to...)
Playability is quite fine. I adjusted the neck and dressed two frets, equipped it with a light set of ELIXIR strings(to all you players out there who havent heard of these strings-two words- BUY THEM- they sound great, not quite as bright as John Pearse of DR's out of the gate but they LAST FOREVER and are worth every penny for the weekend party animals who dont change strings every week.)
For the beginning player, I would definitely put this at the top of my tryout list, along with the Lower priced Seagull/ Simon&Patrick/Norman/Lys "Lapatrie" instruments which get solid tops in well built instruments at an affordable price and hold their value
Sorry to those who paid more than I did ,but you definitely got your money's worth and then some- try the more expensive ones and many dont sound as good I am laughing all the way to the campfire.

This guitar was made in 1999, soild top.
I installed a dean markley sadducer pickup, this guitar sounds great plugged in too...
One thing that bothers me is the tuners, my guitar goes out of tune very easily, and the tuners don't seem to be that percise.
I also replaced the saddle with a man made ivory one... it improved the sound of the pickup quite a bit.

The Cort Earth 100 features a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, 20 frets, thin finish, and a maple neck with select rosewood fretboard. Made in China. Retail price is about $290. The features are pretty good for a beginners guitar.

This guitar sounds better than any other entry level acoustic I've ever played. In fact, I still find it hard to believe that a guitar of this quality is being sold for $200...the retail price is even a bargain. This was my first guitar, and I've only been playing for almost a year, but I can tell that the sound on the Earth 100 is very balanced and rich. I mostly play alternative and classic rock, and this guitar suits them both.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is above average, it stays in tune, and the wood seems pretty solid. I can't find any problems with it other than the thin finish, but that's acceptable because of the low price.

I've only had it for a year, but so far so good. As I mentioned, the finish is very thin, so this is strictly an around the house guitar, although it probably could handle a little damage. Other than that, it's a fairly durable acoustic. No strap button on it, you'll have to install one yourself.

The only thing that hinders the Earth 100 is the finish, but there are too many good things about it to let that get in the way. I'd probably buy something a little more expensive if this were stolen or lost, but I recommend it to people as their first acoustic. Great to learn on, and an all around good guitar.

Dreadnought, acoustic (no electronics). Year: 1999 (Not sure). Made: in Korea. It has 20 frets, solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, 25.25" soft maple neck, chrome diecast machine heads. Sugested price: US $299.95. Paid $250.00 Canadian for a demo, (there is only one tiny scratch on the back). Finish: semi-gloss , the color of the top is "golden honey" and back and sides is a very nice "caramel". The size of the neck is (for me) perfect, at the head (fret #1)it has 1 3/4" wide by 3/4" thick.

I like Eric Clapton, B.B.King, some acoustic blues, Liona Boyd and some folklorics songs from wich I was born (Quebec/Canada). This is my first guitar, for now I'm very please with the sound of it. It seems to me that the sound is deep enough and detailed. On hard passage she's still pleasant to listen to. For the price a guest it's a good deal.

Quality of the materials seem fair, but we can see some inperfections in the grain the wood, but I don't think it will affect the sound. You just have to inspect it very closely before you make the final choice.

Have been playing guitar for less then a year, so I know that my knowledge and experience is very limited. I wanted to share my impression with others anyway, hoping helping someone. Again for the price I think Cort is a choice to consider, the overall construction and the quality of the wood seems of good value. For the quality of sound, which is the most important part, I like to ear and feel the vibrations coming out of it. But after seing the specs of many guitars and listening tons of opinions from others, you know that you have to trust your ears and feeling, and respect the budget you have fixed. By the way, I'm sorry if you see some weird phrasing in my review, I'm from Quebec, usually I speak French.

Excellent sound. Usually prefer acoustic country type style, ie: Neil Young, Bob Dylan as well as blues finger picking. Rich and full sound. Sound is like that of having new strings, even though I recently replaced my strings after 6 months of playing (Every day). No dislokes in regards to sound.

I think this guitar is mainly suited for "around the house playing" but if needed, it would definately withstand stage playing. The finish is a low gloss but I think it will definayely last. I accidently hit the clip on my case with the guitar but it didn't show any damage at all. Strap buttons are very sturdy and solid. I wouldn'r hesitate to use it at a gig without a backup.

Have been playing guitar for 20 years. Used to own a Harmony acoustic and a Citation Acoustic guitar. My first guitar was an "Anjo". I have never seen another Anjo since. I would definately replace my cort with another cort if I lost it. My favorite feature is the sound, the worst feature, although i have to struggle to find one, is the flaw at the freatboard and neck. I would compare it to the Martin D-28.
