This is a beautiful 1999 Cort Earth 1200. it features a mahogany neck, solid spruce top, and laminated rosewood back and sides. The neck offers a abalone tree-of-life that extends from the bottom of the neck all the way up to the headstock. The soundhole is also circles by abalone as is the entire soundboard. Lots of abalone. It has white bindings around the body as well as the neck. Comes with gold Grover tuners with ebony or ebonoid knobs. No case came with my Cort.

Sound : 10
The sound is beautiful, it gives out a nice clear silky tone. Its also nice and loud. I play mostly soft songs and some classical so the sound fits me just right. Its bass is not boomy like Martins and the treble is not as bright as a Taylor, its right in between. The sounds are nicely balanced so nothings louder or brighter than the other. The guitar was clear and bright when I had Elixirs on it but then I decided to try the Alchemy from Dean Markley and it just killed the tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action wasn't too high for me when I first got it. But I like my action pretty low, so I sanded down the saddle just a bit and adjusted the truss rod a bit. The necks nice, its not too thick or too thin like a Martin, perfect for my style of play. My Cort came perfectly bookmatched, I couldn't find any flaws anywhere, except for the tuners. One of the tuners were out of alignment, just barely though. Other than that the finish is awesome. The grain on the spruce is SO tight!! Their obviously very picky of the woods they choose.

Reliability/Durability : 10
compared to my Martin this guitars pretty heavy, maybe because of the laminated back and sides. The guitar is solidly constructed and can take a beating. I don't gig, but if I did I wouldn't need a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had the need to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 10 years and this guitar is a keeper. If stolen or lost I would buy another one without hesitation. There are three things I love about this guitar-
1.The sound is just beautiful, I love it!
2.The asthetic value of this guitar is awesome! There is so much abalone! A very different look compared to my Martin and Taylor.
3.The value of this guitar should be much more than it sells for. This guitar is a real bargain!

I currently own- Taylor 810 and 355 12-string, Simon&Patrick SP-6, a Martin SPD-16, Fender F-250, and the Cort 1200. My favorite of couse is the 810 but the Martin and Cort come in second together.

This is a really beautiful guitar. It's a full body dreadnought with
a solid spruce top, indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck with an abolone tree of life fingerboard inlay, abalone body binding and soundhole rosette, gold Grover tuners with black keys and a bone
nut and bone saddle. For acoustic lovers like myself, this one has no electronics. It has a beautiful natural finish. Only one endpeg and plastic bridgepins.

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds absolutely awesome. The solid top and x-braces along with the bone saddle give it tons of volume and a great sound.
I changed my bridgepins to brass which only added to the allready bright sound and sustain. I have played this guitar along side Martin D-28's and I was not at all intimidated. The Martins had only a little deeper punch, I suppose from the scalloped braceing, but the Earth 1200 compared very nicely without the scalloped braceing.

No guitar can be set up from the factory to suit every players needs. Every player has different playing styles and techniques. Therefore when buying a new guitar it may need some adjustments. I myself tend to drive a guitar very hard and so far every guitar I have ever owned, I have done some measure of adjusting. So it was no surprise that I did have to do some adjustments to my Earth 1200. The only problem I have found is that my 13th fret is a little loose at the top side and is sticking up just ever so slightly. However it is not even enough to make the strings buzz. The bone nut is very well made and along with a very well made compensated bone saddle the guitar plays in perfect tune. All of the tuners work very smoothly and the guitar allways stays in tune from one play session to the next. All of the inlays are very nicely done and fitted into the guitar. The top and back are perfectly bookmatched.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a very solid, well built guitar. The finish on the guitar is very nicely done and appears to be very durable. All of the hardware is very secure. Grover tuners have a reputation of being very well made and very reliable. I am 33 years old and I have no doubt that my grandchildren will one day be playing this guitar.

I have been playing guitar for about 25 years. I have owed many guitars over the years and currently own 9. I have a few guitars with a lot of sentimental value, such as an old smallbody Gibson that my Grandpa gave me, and an old Epiphone I have had for years, but as far as playability the Earth 1200 is the best guitar I have ever owned. My girlfriend bought the Earth 1200 for me for my birthday but she could have gotten a Martin DX1 for about the same price. She left the choice to me, and when I compared the two, side by side, I chose the Earth 1200. I love this guitar so much that if something happened to it I think I would go insane. I would definitely buy another.

This is a full size dreadnought acoustic guitar. The guitar is "handcrafted in Korea". The neck is mahagony. The top is spruce. The guitar is a real showpiece with the abalone inlays around the soundhole and around the body binding. The fretboard is also adorned with the tree of life extending all the way from the bottom of the neck to the headstock. This is also inlaid in abalone. The tuners are gold and black Grovers. There is no pickup in this guitar.

Sound : 10
This guitar has a beautifully rich sound, very bright but with an evenly balanced mid and bottom end. It has a very sustained resonant quality. No muddiness whatsoever with this one.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The finish on this guitar is much better that the price indicates. It is as good as many Taylors, Martins, Yairis that I have seen. Unbelievable for the price. Workmanship is nearly flawless. The only flaw that I have found is a very slight fret noise at the 1st fret of the 6th string which will resonate when it is played open and the 5th string is played on the 6th fret. It is so slight that most people would not even notice. You have to work at it to even make it do it so I have been reluctant to take a little off the 1st fret. Not worth the trouble. This is the only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10

Reliability/Durability : 10
It only comes with an end pin for the strap so I installed a pair of gold strap buttons which make the guitar really stand out. The finish is very nice. It appears to be durable.

I left a message with the customer service rep's voice mail at the toll free number and he returned my call within a couple of hours. I had questions about this instrument before I purchased it and he was very helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I would defininetly buy this guitar again. For the money you just can not go wrong. I have owned several guitars in the past and this one is one of the best. The Korean hand made guitars like this one are on par with the Japan made Yairis and Takamines. This one is not the cheap Korean made version like the American manufacturers are having made for their bottom end line. It would not surprise me to see this guitar cost alot more in the next couple of years when Cort becomes a more popular brand. I did replace the plastic bridge pegs with brass EZ pegs which made this guitar sound even better. Now the sustain and brightness is incredible.

This more than an acoustic guitar, it is a "Work of Art" both in instrument sound quality and apperance. The beautiful "Tree of Life" inlay on the neck and inlay on sound board is of high quality and finish. This guitar will match up against others that are 3 to 4 times the price of this beauty. I recommend this guitar for all players and is a great addition to any collection.

Sound : 10
A beautiful robust and clean sound. Great response from both the low to highs. Rich and bright. I compared to all the big boys and there is no difference.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is superb. Fit is awesome. Finish is remarkable. This guitar turns heads when playing. It is truly a piece of art. No flaws anywhere. You big boys better watch out, there's a new dog in town!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is built to last. I know it will be handed down for generations of use. Only getting better in time as the wood matures.

Customer Support : 10
Super, Super and Super. There Technical support is very responsive, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. No problems, just had questions and needed advice on adding a fishman matrix pickup.

Overall Rating : 10
10+ for this guitar. I would buy another is lost or stolen. I have 12 guitars and this is #2 only because #1 is the NAMM Edition Earth 1200A of this same guitar. Cort is moving to be #1 and they are almost there if all their products are a nice as this. I you can get one, you won't be sorry.
