this guitar has very nice features with ash body and extraordinary pickup. It was used but still in good quality. It's also made in Korea which is pretty much trustworthy.

Sound : 10
It has little bit of buzz sound but compare to its price it's not easy to find a guitar like this...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i think it's almost flawless in its appearance. One thing is that there's no number for the sound and tone control. except that it looks great!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion

Customer Support : 9
Because its main center is in korea it would be hard to reach them. However, my local guitar center could repaired the stuff that i needed. so there it's not much of a deal since it's compatible with other strats.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 2 1/2 years with this guitar and it still sounds great. I just bought a fender but I'm still inclined toCort G250P sometimes. It's a great guitar if u're looking for something affordable and woth the money at the same time.. go for it man.!

This was one of my first strat clones. Mine is a basswood body, rosewood fretboard, wilkinson whammy, roller nuts, mighty mite pickups, bridge humbucker with coil split.

Sound : 7
The mighty mite pickups are pretty good. The humbucker is very hot, but a bit muddy. The single coils are very clear but the volume of the 1st and 2nd strings are a tad low. The humbucker is good for heavy distortion. It is a good starter guitar but doesn't give you the twangy bell like tones of a fender with good pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action was very good when it came. I live in a humid country, and while my Fender MIM strat has been good for over two years now, this Cort started rusting within 3 months. The woodscrews on the pickguard are black now. The pickup screws are a muddy brown. Even the frets are rusting. I'm quite disappointed with it.

Apart from the rust, the pickups were well adjusted, intonation was good.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I would gig with it but would carry a replacement. This guitar will NOT work without a 9V battery. Even though it only powers the piezo, you will get no sound without the battery even with the normal pickups. The build seems good but mine is rusting like crazy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used them. What can I say? "Welp Melp, my guitar is rusting?" I doubt even they could do anything about it, short of replacing the guitar.

Overall Rating : 5
An ok beginner guitar. The piezo offers some interesting tones. Not very tough in humid climate. I'd look elsewhere.

This was my first guitar, the G250P I have is made in Korea, it has the usual 22 frets, H-S-S pickup configuration, basswood body, rosewood fretboard, sunburst finish. Mine came retrofitted with schaller locking tuners and a new roller nut. I got mine second hand.

Sound : 10
The sound is excellent. I play the guitar through a MXR compressor, an overdrive, a phaser, a chorus and delay. The piezo sounds mind blowing through the compressor, chorus and delay together. The tone sounds like a beautiful cool-warm semi-acoustic with that little bite when picking the strings which you never get in an electric.

The humbucker is really hot and so are the other pups. I can play everything from blues to metal with this.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The build is very solid and it looks well put together, the finish is clean and the action is just right. Unfortunately I am not so happy with the materials used. The frets on my guitar are rusting and the screws on the pickguard, pickups, switch, etc are all rusted. Even the fishman piezo pickup is showing signs of flaking. Not sure if this is the paint but I do see stuff coming off.

My 6 year old fender strat stored in the same conditions has absolutely no rust on it. Not even the cheap screws are rusted. Maybe the cort was not designed to be used in Florida weather?

Reliability/Durability : 7
I'm sure this guitar can physically handle a gig (it is very well built and sturdy) but I have doubts about the active circuitry used inside. I don't want to be caught at a gig with the battery down, and I am not sure what other problems the active circuitry may throw up compared to the simpler passive pickup system on my fender.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Mine was second hand so I never dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 9
On the whole this is very good value for money, but they need to use higher quality metal components for the frets, screws, etc.

This cort is made in Korea, what year I don't know, we got it second hand for $200 in excellent condition. The specs are exactly the same as the others on this page so I won't repeat them. Mine came with a locking strap, and a gig bag. Actually this is not my guitar, as I already have a fender strat and another clone, this review is for a common (shared) guitar we play when jamming.

Sound : 10
Frankly I am blown away. I own a cheap behringer strat clone, and a fender MIM strat and I was playing with this cort which our band bought as a beater. When I plugged it in straight into the Laney 30 watt valve amp, the tones which came out were so lovely, it easily sounds better than my "original" fender strat and (obviously) the behringer. In fact, the sound was so good, that's the reason I changed my behringer stock pickups to mighty mites which the cort comes with.

I couldn't believe it but the output from these pickups are twice as loud as my fender and blows the stupid behringer out of the sky. THe tone is excellent and the guitar can handle almost anything from blues, jazz, rock, and hard rock, but maybe not thrash metal.

The first day we got this, I played with it for 2 hours straight. I was amazed at the tones I was getting compared to my "expensive" fender. Yes the fender is good, but so is this, at a fraction of the cost.

The piezo pickup adds another interesting dimension with numerous possibilities of mixing acoustic and electric sound. I've finally perfected a setting where I play chords and rhythm and the output is mainly from the electric pickups but I have the piezo on with the volume a little low, so that it picks up the subtle noises of the hands moving on the strings, the plectrum picking the strings, etc, which add that wonderful extra dimension to the sound. It is truly lovely.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was perfect when it arrived. The previous owner had set it up just nice. I love the saddles and the bridge, it is finished so much better than a fender, no poking screws, etc.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Not so sure about reliability because we haven't had it for too long, but it does look very solid and robust. The finish is very tough and I'm sure it can take a beating.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used them.

Overall Rating : 10
This guitar is truly awesome value for money. Initially I thought cort was yet another unknown third party guitar mfgr who makes crappy axes for cheap, but having played this guitar I can easily say that nothing could be further from the truth. I later learnt that cort is a not a small fender wannabe, but a huge south Korean guitar mfgr which produces almost half the guitars sold in the world every year. I believe they sold 650,000 guitars last year.

If this were stolen I'd cry like a lost dog and look for another. It's that good.

My Cort is made in Korea, but not sure which year. It's the standard G250P design with 22 frets. Mine comes with a H/S/S pickup arrangements, MightyMite pickups and a Fishman piezo on the bridge rigged up with the Wilkinson vibrato. Not sure about active or passive electronics but I'm guessing active becoz there's a battery on the axe. It came with non locking tuners.

Sound : 9
I've played it through a range of amps, from a Roland cube to a Marshall MG15CDR to a Peavey, and it sounds a little different on each of the amps. Sound wise this guitar is excellent. The neck and middle pickups sound a little thin when I played on the Roland but when I played with the other amps, after adjusting the tone controls and putting the axe through a delay and a blues driver, it sounds rich and thick.

Initially it sounded like sh*t, I'd put on the piezo pickups and disabled the magnetics and put it thru distort. I didn't know what the settings were. It sounded like a bunch of starved bees in a tin can. Then when I started playing with the different settings, I discovered that this guitar can produce a wide range of tones, and some do well with a distort and some don't. I always play clean with the piezo, and the humbucker does a solid job with a DOD death metal distort I use.

After spending a couple of days coaxing this axe to produce every sort of imaginable sound I could want, I'd have to say it delivers. I sometimes send it through a PodXT and baby, it delivers.

Likes and dislikes? I like the chunky sound of the humbucker. Dislikes, well it could have had a SD or EMG pickups instead of the mighty mite, but those mites are amazing value for money.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Nothing much to complain about the setup. The action was just right for me, and the pickups were well set. I changed the strings from the 0.010's to .008's since I play shred metal and speed metal quite a bit, the low action and .008 strings really helped with that.

The paint job, screws, keys, frets, fretboard, pick guard and bridge were neatly finished with no mess. Good job here.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'd gig with it, but would probably take a backup. I've been gigging for about 5 yrs now, small time stuff, but I usually carry a backup. Not that this guitar is fragile or anything, far from it, this cort looks like it's very well made, very solid. It doesn't look like it will fall apart any time unless I fling it off a high rise building. Everything is solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not needed.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, this axe is great value for money, and delivers the goods. It can give you a wide range of tones whether you want to play shred metal or bebop. It's well made and looks built to last.

Product: Cort G250P

Features : 9
My Cort G250P is made in Korea, 22 frets, H-S-S configuration with mighty mite pickups (two single coil and one humbucker near the bridge), fishman piezo pickups, wilkinson/fishman power bridge , basswood body, hard maple neck, rosewood fretboard, strat style body, non locking tuners, nice slim fretboard for my small-ish hands. I only wish it had a locking nut, but I'm going to replace that anyway, over the next week or so.

Sound : 9
I'm getting back into music after a gap of about eight years. Used to play a Les Paul earlier. This time, I didn't know how deep I'd get into music since it's only a hobby, so I wanted an inexpensive guitar which I can play with when needed. I cared more about the feel of the fretboard and its weight and less about the tone since this was to be a no-frills home use guitar anyway.

Looked at the local classifieds and found a couple of folks selling the G250 and G250P. I went to play with the G250P and liked its feel and handling. I'm not sure what sort of amp was used, but when I was trying out this guitar, it sounded pretty bad, except when the humbucker was used. I didn't think much of it, and it was cheap, so I grabbed it.

When I came home, I reduced the action (the strings were way too high), increased the height of the neck and middle pickups (they were too soft), and cleaned it up a bit. The next day I went out and got some lighter Fender 0.009 nickel plated steel strings and wired them up.

I then hooked it up through some pedals to test out, a Boss compression sustainer CS-2, a dual overdrive SD-2, an ancient 15 year old heavy metal HM-2 which was used during my student days, and a digital delay DD-5, into a Laney HCM15R amp. The rig sounded really good, and when I fine tuned the action, pickup height and other little things, the thing sounded downright awesome. It produces a fantastic tone with the bridge and middle pickups enabled, as well as the middle and neck pickups. It doesn't sound that great when used with single pickups, specially the neck pickup, but heck, I've never liked the tone of any Fender or clone used with a single pickup (neck/middle), that's just my personal taste.

It produces a really cool funky tone with the neck-middle and middle-bridge pickup combo, and a really fat warm tone with the humbucker. The piezo pickup is wonderful to add character to the playing, it picks up all those little sounds like the pickup scratching the string, the motion of your fingers on the fretboard, etc, it's really good for rhythm when used with the right sort of music.

The humbucker is absolutely perfect when used with a distortion, it's ideal for hard rock. Blistering thick warm lead solos with this one. One little nit pick - the humbucker doesn't produce a clean crisp tone when played clean, it's ideal for distortion though.

After playing with it for about 10 minutes I was totally blown away by the quality of the sound from this guitar. I never expected anything of this calibre for this price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Mine was second hand, and the former owner had the action a bit high, but I lowered the strings and it's now perfect for my style, and I bend the strings a lot.

The pickups needed some adjustment, the height was too low and the neck and middle pickups wouldn't pick up the first (E) string too well, though it would do very well with the heavier strings. I raised the height of the pickups and it's far better now.

The fretboard / neck is awesome, it's really the right size for my smallish hands and the finish is smooth and sleek. Running / sliding up and down the fretboard is very easy with this guitar.

My guitar had slightly oxidised screws at a few places, but I put that down to bad storage. Mine is second hand, and I saw the guitar just sitting out there on a guitar stand with no protection. Maybe that's the way it was stored all along.

Other than this, the guitar finish is very good, nothing out of place.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have no doubt that this guitar can withstand any gig you throw at it. It's a really solid piece and is built well. The finish seems quite rugged and made to last. I wouldn't hesitate to use it at a gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed any so far.

Overall Rating : 9
I don't own much other gear now, most of it was sold when I stopped playing about eight years ago. If this guitar were stolen or lost, I'd definitely consider buying this again, but I'd also seriously consider a Les Paul which was my favourite. What do I love about this guitar.. the feel of the neck and fretboard, and I love the tone. There's really nothing I hate about it. I've used a couple of Fender standard strats, and owned an Epi Les Paul, and the only other guitars I've compared this to are a couple of Ibanez's at the guitar shop. I chose this because of the price!

Soon as I got home plugged the this baby in and thought oh!!S**T what did I buy the thing sounded horrible like it was alien tuned even though I tuned it prior. I messed aroung with the selector and the knobs and my od this guitar can do more than any of my squiers could possibly imagine doing. I have been collecting japanese squires. and infact that what I was in search of till I found this tone monster. This guitar is amazing.my peavey t-60 gets alot of different sounds but this cort outrivals it.I even can get it to sound like a acoustic like the dude states in his review prior to mine. this is with out a doubt a working man or womens guitar.I played it through my peavey full stack with a dod death metal distortion and it sounded great and through the clean channel I was so glad I bought it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I like the weight on this baby as it is nice and lite. the frets are smoothe un-like this new gibson I played before this. the giby guitar would require a fret filing. this cort***stor did not need it. nice nut on it (graphite) thick ~O~ finish

Strat-style H-S-S guitar featuring 22 frets, roller-nut, roller string-trees, Wilkinson-designed Fishman piezo-loaded vibrato bridge. Bridge humbucker with coil-tap switch. Volume controls for magnetic and piezo outputs, single tone control for the magentic pickups. Contoured heel for improved upper-fret access.

Sound : 8
I play predominantly blues and country-influenced hard rock and metal. I needed to retain the Strat's sweet sound but not at the expense of a hot bridge output for leads and chunky rhythm, and the Cort fits the bill. The single-coils have all the round, bell-like tone and notch-position quack the Strat-lover expects. They are true single-coils, but I tend to only use these pickup selections with a clean(ish) sound, so the inevitable hum and buzz which manifests with distortion doesn't bother me too much.

The piezo output is a perfectly fine electro-acoustic tone with plenty of depth and snap -- Through a PA it really shines. I am considering trying it out with the Boss AD-8 acoustic modeller in case I want to use it live for a 'truer' acoustic sound.

However, I now come to my only gripe with this guitar -- the MightyMite humbucker. While this is sweet and Stratty in the tapped mode, I find it very boxy and lacking in clarity in full series mode. I swapped it out for a SD Full Shred pickup, which demonstrated a much clearer and more balanced tone (but was useless in split mode). I am currently seeking a permanent replacement, and thinking of shelling-out for a Rio Grande Tallboy or Muy Grande. I would have given the guitar full marks if not for this one issue.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have been playing a borrowed Squier Strat for ages with a Mex Tele as my backup, and this was my first new purchase for years. The time I spent doing my homework was time well spent, as this guitar is a diamond! Planet Of Sound (look them up) did a fantastic job of setting-up the guitar before shipping, as it played like a dream right out of the box.

Everything works just as it should. The guitar stays in tune better than any guitar I've ever played (bar Floyd-equipped ones). I can't adequately express my joy at being able to use the wiggle-stick without imminent fear of my tuning suddenly being thrown wildly out of whack -- and with no locking hardware to deal with. The roller-nut/string tree combo seems to be a great design feature. This guitar doesn't even have locking tuners -- doesn't need them.

The neck is absolutely stunning. The finish is fine and smooth; friction-free playing is a breeze.

A neat touch is that the top strap button is mounted on the back of the horn, not the side. This makes it very comfortable and well-balanced to wear. However, the siting of the button makes the guitar sit proud inside my Hiscox Liteflite case, so now I need a deeper guitar case. It seems a pity that Cort don't offer cases with their guitars, especially considering they all have non-standard body shapes.

A small (and I do mean small) niggle is the fact that bending strings down near the nut occasionally causes the string to jump out of its slot in the roller-nut into the groove between the rollers. I understand the new G250Ps now have GraphTech Trem-Nuts installed as standard rather than these roller-nuts, so I may try upgrading to one of these at some point. However, tuning is so good I can put up with this.

NB: The bridge grub-screw which maintains tension on the whammy-bar fell out while I was removing the bar to pack the guitar away. I never found it. I ended up getting some 3mm replacements from a local hardware chain. Be warned. I recommend getting a guitar case which can accommodate the instrument with wang-bar fitted.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have had the guitar for a couple of months but have not gigged with it, although I play out at a jam session once a week. It has not let me down yet. I would expect the guitar to last as long as I do. I'm aware that the piezo bridge has some delicate wiring and electronics attached, so I intend to be careful with it. I would never gig without a backup as a matter of principle but I do not expect this instrument to be a liability. It has all the hallmarks of a solid, versatile workhorse.

Customer Support : 7
Top marks to Planet Of Sound for the setup; after-sales service loses them a couple of points. While very polite and ostensibly helpful, when I lost the bridge grub-screw and requested help locating a replacement I was given the run-around for a couple of weeks before I lost patience and went to a hardware store. More significantly, before purchase I was assured that this guitar was one of the new ones with the Trem-Nut, but it turned out to be the roller-nut model. (You'd think someone would have noticed during the setup and let me know.) I also had to settle for a black one because they were out of my preferred colour (sunburst). Despite these hiccups, I am very happy with the guitar.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for 16 years now, and this is by far the best instrument I've ever spent time with. I once owned a #1500 Gibson 335, which played like a two-bob piece of crap compared to this. I have never come across a Strat that held tuning this well or had anything like the features and versatility of the Cort.

If lost, I'd get another without hesitation. In fact, I like the 250P so much I'm even looking at Cort's other lines with an a view to adding another instrument to my arsenal.

I'm still a bit disappointed about having to fund the purchase of a new bridge pickup, but the 250P was such good value for money, I'm not complaining. I could have spent #600-700 on a Fat Strat instead and found myself in exactly the same position -- except I'd be beating myself to death every day trying to keep the damn thing in tune. The Cort's a keeper.

Strat style, S/S/H setup, 1 Volume, 1 Tone (with coil tap), 5 way selector, Wilkinson Trem, Mightymite (active) pickups. Mine is in a very nice "Trans Red" colour. (slightly see through red, showing the grain of the wood)

This guitar is the same as the Cort G250 except for the p, which means you get a piezo pickup in the bridge.

Sound : 10
I am a bass player beginning on the guitar. I bought this guitar for its range of sounds; and what a range it is. I play through computer fx and a very good set of speakers.

With a little EQ the piezo pickup sounds just like an acoustic, especially strumming. The 5 way selector can pick out almost anything from a wide range of sounds. I like to play anything that i can stretch to, and (so far, touch wood) have been able to create close to all the sounds i was looking for.

One feature that i like is how you can mix the standard pickups with the piezo pickup, makes a kindof unusual acoustic/electric hybrid! Not tried in stereo yet, maybe a possibility of some new sounds routing the acoustic through one effects and the electric through the other....

The coil tap on the humbucker hasnt really been used yet, but does make a noticable difference to the sound.

One (negative point) is that the tone control only seems to have any use over half its range, the rest of it seems a little muddy. kindof takes a quater of the cherry off a near perfect cake. oh well.

In all an extremely verstile range sounds let down only by half of the tone control, would be 9.9, but i had to round up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Neck as straight as you like.
Medium action, found it very easy to pick up and play.
Very comfortable, sitting or standing.
I really like the matt finish hardware!
Flawless finish.

I was almost going to get an ibanez sa260, but the range of sounds on this guitar seemed worth the extra 60 pounds.
playing bass 2 year, guitar 0 years before this one, had it for about 6 months.
Stolen or lost, probably be very sad.
