This is a walnut satin finish, made of basswood guitar. The body shape is coming from a strat form, but with more rounded edges. The bridge is a wilkinson non locking tremolo - very nice! The neck is maple, nice C shaped, rosewood fingerboard, small dot inlays, and more comfortable than a Lite Ash strat neck - to my taste. Nature headstock, die cast tuners. This axe is 2006 made - in Korea or Indonesia. It has Mightymite passive HSS pickups, with coil taping tone controll knob for the bridge humbucker.
Sound

I play christian blues and rock, and thuis guitar sounds very nice to me. Especially the neck single coil with distorsion. I tried this gitar with a 3000$ full tube Hiwatt combo amp (not a high gain amp I must say) and the neck position was amaizing! Shiny and fat - great solo tone! may be the bridge humbucker a bit weak, but bright. The clean sound of the neck/midle position was also very nice to me. Twangy and stratish, with a little bit increased mids compaired to a strat, but very rich sound, well done Mightymite! This guitar has no pickguard - so I was surprised of the clean rich strat-ish tone!

The set up was not good at this time. This examination was in a Musik Messe in Hungary, and sad but i have not found one guitar that well setted up. Not one had fine, low action- not even this Cort. And even this had something hard, thick strings on it. It was hard to play. But the neck was great! The body contour was comfortable, the basswood body had a walnut satin finish, which was very nice, and eyecatching. But the finish lackering was flawless only on the outside of the body! In the pickup-cavities I could see the natural, unpainted basswood. This means to me: this is a good enginiered guitar but the craftmanship was just korean/indonesian ("Spare time, and material: paint only the visible side of the guitar, the pickup will cover the unpainted parts" - This theory just did not work. And one thing, the neck pickup was not straight mounted in the cavity.
The guitar is not too heavy, but heavy enough, so I could feel, that it's made of real wood, and not just looks like! The mighty mite pickups sounded good.

I think, i would not complain with this guitar. Looks durable to me. It is a good assambled instrument - exept from the finish. Comfortable, no worries about the strap button - it depends on the playing style. I could think about depending on this axe, and usiong it without a backup.

I have plaed electric guitar for 15 years on several good japanese guitars (Charvel CX 592, Ibanez RG140, Chaser Les Paul), Now - funny - I have an old Squier under reconsrtuction by me. It is a good instrument, and If I had onem, and if It was stolen - i would buy something else, just becouse my favourite is the Ibanez SAS 36.
I was after that Ibanez, and got an eye on this Cort. wanted to try, and I was impressed, and surprised too. Good guitar, not just for beginners!

pick-ups are mid output, humbucker is a little to weak for heavy distortion, but sounds good with the coil tap engaged, the 2 singles lack bite, i replaced the humbucker with a emg-hz i had layin around and put 2 carvin ap-11's in to replace the singles,
sounds great for metal, but at the same time now sounds great for everything else

the guitar i bought was at the store for awhile, but was set up perfect, the action was low but too low, bridge was set up fine, first time i used a wilkinson trem, it's the smoothest trem i've ever seen, hight of the pickups were a little low, also the fret work on the nect was beautiful, actually better than some lower model gibson les paul's, coil tap, seclector swith work fine

let's face it, its a guitar, if you play alot things will eventually break, if you don't play alot, it will last longer, but this guitar is built well enough to last awhile, who cares how long the paint lasts, when it gets beat to hell it will give it character, anyone who gigs without a backup is a smacked ass anyway just for the fact that strings tend to break

not that twangy tho.
Humbucker ROCKS!!
5 way switch and coiltap for HB means it is versatile.
Action, Fit, & Finish

pickups a bit low
coil tap does NOT stay down so i cant use the humbucker

It is an ok guitar, pretty good for beginners
i had the shop floor model so i wasn't expecting perfection
I love its shape and feel as it is very light
i don't like the strings i will change them ASAP
the dot inlays are on one side of the fingerboard which im not to keen on
wish it had another tone pot though

very versatile instrument, i'm glad i bought it! , but i'd recommend changing the humbucker, i did so, and placed a seymour duncan invader. the singles are not too bad, but i would change one of them to have a more versatile sound.
I like to play metal, rock, and from time to times some blues, this does it all (certainly after putting the SD invader)otherwise too much treble

action finish,.. were just perfect, cant really find someting wrong with it...came out of the box, perfect in tune (was tuned half a step down)) selector doesn't make any noise, so it's fine by me
only thing, but possible because of the strings, although it came tuned out of the box, once you tune different, and try to retune, tuning is rather difficult, i'd say, change for some good strings, i'll give it a try with ernie ball's, and otherwise, lose the tuners
i give it a 9 because i'm not yet sure if the tuners are that bad, strings aren't good

Just wanna say something about my previous review, about the single coils.
After I wrote the review I took the time to decently twiddle with my controls both on guitar and amp and the sorts, and set my single coils higher ( totally forgotten, srry people ) and now they've gotten the right height they sound much better, still too bright, but enough bite to satisfy me indeed!!, it does surprise me tough, the guitar was perfectly set up at the store, but the single coils still were a LITTLE bit too low, and that made the huge difference to my ears
So, for a proffesional look on the sound, take a peek on the other guy's review, he says it all, and I totally agree

made in indonesia, dunno the year, its got a basswood body, which is Ok, its got two mightymite single coils and a mightymite humbucker, to be honest, I'm dissapointed in the singles, they don't sound bright or bity whatsoever, dont get me wrong, they're really cleansounding, but even with my bass and middle turned down on my cube30, they sound heavy, which I dont like cause I'm a fender sound fan
the humb is really great
It's got a mighty fine wilkinson bridge!!! This is an a m a z i n g tremelo!!! It also has a rolling nut, it does help to stay in tune, but it can be irritating cause sometimes it makes a clicking noise when pushing down the strings.
It also has immensely great, smooth tuning heads, dont remember the brand, but they're known and for a reason, they're simply great.
It's got a coil tap ( for the humb of course :) tone knob, a volume knop and a perfectly working 5 way selector switch
Sound
:7
well I'm learning the guitar for a year now (am 15), and my style is definitely rock like U2, bruce springsteen, Neil young, Eric Clapton and the likes( I HATE PUNK and grunge, srry folks, but all u punkers do is put the distortion up and hit the strings like hell while u dont even know chords, I hate that kind of guitarplaying, its not even playing, ow god...) and the sound is very nice
, the humbucker is stunning for this price, it has a GREAT clean bright noise! And for the heavier stuff it's even BETTER! ( I can play pride and it sounds really like the edge, and punk would do good, I tried to hear all the sounds I could get including punk
, but I hate the style, so no more about it except that it would do wonderful)
the single coils...well I dont like them...I'm more of a humbucker fan I guess...I said I'm a fender sound fan...but I just cant get a really bright bity tone, so that turned me into a humb fan, cause its great, and tapped ( making it a single coil ) it sounds better
then the normal single coils to
me, others love the sound of them, so dont be mislead, (this is personal opinion )
NOTE: THE SINGLE COILS REMARK IS REALLY PERSONAL, WHEN I LISTEN TO THEM WITH MY MIND ON NEUTRAL I HEAR AMAZINGLY CLEAN SOUNDING SINGLE COILS WHICH JUST DONT HAVE THE BITE OF A STRAT BUT STILL ARE GREAT FOR THIS PRICE
Action, Fit, & Finish

amazing, great finish with only some few minor flaws, but they are unnoteworthly
the action is really impressive, for me it's spot on, not too high, not too low, its mysteriously amaaaazing.
g r e a t and looks good too, with the amber colour
only problem is that it scratches quickly and gets a lot of fingermarks quickly, but who cares, that's normal
Reliability/Durability
:10
well, it feels sturdy and its had some accidental bumps including the strap falling of the strap holder, and I cant find a scratch or dent or anything, It's reliable and can hold its ground live, I'd dare to go without backup, though I dont think I'd ever do that.
the strap holder is normal, its my strap that's widening at the hole, so I don't reallt have remarks yet, havent played live with it yet neither, so as far as it goes to me its all I need ( knobs and the sorts also great )
Customer Support

only way I dealt with them was on the forum of the official site, and the response is as quickly as possible, which is REALLY quickly, especially the cort technician whom does some responding at the forum helps a lot
but I've heard a lot of people mailing and never getting answer, but again as far as it goes for me, that means the immediate response on the forum and the incredibly friendly people at my store its all I would want

for this price, it beats a lot of other guitars, go for this if ur on a budget, even advicable for proffessionals (they'll like this guitar really a lot )
who want a cheapo to abuse on stage ( still hate punkers )
dont be mislead by the pacificas somewhat higher price, or other low budget guitars prices, this one beats them all.
If u need a great clean sound, keep on saving money unless u really have a budget, if ur Ok with a normal clean sound, and plan to use some distortion anyway, this is greaaat

22 frets.
2 single coils and a humbucker at the bridge that can be turned into a single coil, by pulling the tone pot out. (It's like a switch) I find this very useful.
5-way selector.
1 volume and 1 tone pot (that also switches the bridge humbucker on and off, like I said)
Mighty mite pickups.
Bolt on neck.
Wilkinson bridge.
Roller nut.
Beautiful maroony-brown matt finish.
I think the tone and volume dials are chrome, some shiny metal anyway.
It looks like a stylised strat.
Sound

Extremely rich tone. I'm into bluesy stuff and also more modern things, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Radiohead etc.
I'm using it with a fairly basic 16 watt kustom amp and it sounds great for solos. If you're trying to play clean chords on it, it can be hard to find a nice sound, it seems to be either too acoustic-sounding or too twangy, but other than that the tone is really rich and sustained. The notes don't just die on you like many other guitars in this price range.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guy in the shop is the local guitar guru, and so he set it up and checked that everything was OK with it before he sold it to me, so its set up extremely well. Having said that, he had to send another one back to the manufacturers whilst I was there, because he didn't like the neck on it. So, I guess, just have a good check of it before you buy it.

For the price range, this is an excellent guitar. If it was stolen I would definitely buy it again. I compared it with pretty much all the guitars I could find under NZ $1000, and the only guitar that compared with it was a $950 Epiphone. Overall, I still think this guitar has a better sound than the $950 guitar, and it only cost $600.
