This guitar sounds GREAT so far.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The only real body flaws I found was 1) That the fretboard was a little too dry for my liking. So I'll condition it when I change strings. 2) The strap button at the top needs to have a bigger screw put into it as it kept working itself out during the normal bashing my guitars go thru during rehearsal. Being a HUGE proponent for BOSS guitar effects I recommend picking up a BOSS NS-2. This is their noise supressor and in my opinion, is a must-have for any "low end" guitar user as in my experience the lower end guitars tend to buzz more and get more feedback. With the addition of that pedal there is no more of that!

Well, after hammering on it for over an hour at the store thru a vast array of Boss pedals as well as the stock distortion available on the Crate Voodoo model amp(luckily they had a little room I could use) I tried my damndest to find every reason I could to justify hanging it back up and sticking to the other 4 guitars I have. I could find no reason for leaving her behind other than the fact that it didn't say Gibson at the top. The true test was taking it to rehearsal where I was able to play it thru my Marshall JCM-900. It held up beautifully. Although the stock pickups are strong and solid, I (and don't laugh) installed two EMG-81 pickups in this guitar and now it is a true diamond in the rough.

I have to be honest in saying that I like to purchase inexpensive guitars and Frankenstein them together by putting new pickups and other hardware in 'em to make 'em shine. This guitar was such a great product from the get-go that I only installed the new pickups (and reluctantly at that, as the other ones worked fine). I suggest this for any guitar player. If you already own a Gibson Les Paul, this will make a wonderful backup. However, my word of warning. When trying out a lower end, inexpensive guitar...If at all possible, try it out on the same amp you have at home and/or with as many effects you use as possible so that when you get it home, you're not taken by surprise by a huge difference in sound. You'd be surprised how many amps music stores will have set up with noise gates and the like to make everything in their store sound better. Also, when trying any guitar out, play as many of the same model to find the one with the sound you like the most, as there may be subtle differences with each one's sound.
