I've now played the excel 1DP for nearly one year, and find it as fine an instrument as I've ever owned.
I wanted a medium to narrow neck, single pickup and a large 17 inch body for the sounds that go with that size.
The D'A offered a mellow sound with tonal range that could be made sharp or bassy by adjustiments on my amp.
Sound
:

The sound is really what an archtop guitar tends to offer, as I play a variety of music ranging from old country and 50's rock a billy to easy listening Chet Atkins. This guitar offers a lot of ease in playing and sound
Action, Fit, & Finish
:
10
I have to rate it top notch in action, fit and finish. I had only to adjust the bridge height and change the string gage to my personal liking and that was all that I had to do.
Reliability/Durability
:
10
Even thought the guitar is made in Asia, the workmanship so far is better than I expected. Asian guitars, in the past, had a reputation for poor workmanship, however the D'A is far above the decades old reputation of the past. After one year of daily playing and weekend gigs, the guitar shows no signs of any problems. Definately an eye catcher for looks as well.
Customer Support

I haven't needed any support as yet, but the time that I sent a thank you email to the dealer, I got a nice response in return thanking me for purchasing one of their guitars.
Overall Rating
:
10
Overall rating is between a 9 and 10 in everything I can say. I have 9 guitars, some vintage as well, and this D'Angelico is the one I play when working professionally.
