Features : 10
The jazz line has laminated maple back sides and top. The neck is solid maple with a 20 fret ebony fingerboard. The lower bout is 16" and the depth is 2 1/2". It is the shape of an L-5 only smaller. The finger rest and the tail piece are solid ebony. It has a single humbucking set into the body and a volume and tone control. It comes with Gotoh tuners and a hard shell case.

Sound : 10
This guitar has a bright full sound. I do not like the pickups that the factory installs, so I replaced it with a Benedetto B-6. It really sounds like a full sized jazz box now. The action is fast and comfortable, and the guitar is light weight for a hollowbody. This guitar will hold it's own against any comparable jazz guitar on the market. The pickups that come with it have a very interesting sound. It had great cutting power, and reminded me of a stratocaster. However I play swing jazz in a big band and I couldn't get the sound I wanted until I changed the pickup. I am amazed at how loudly I can play without feedback. Altogether a great instrument. Interestingly the whole guitar does vibrate while you play it. It's about as loud acoustically as any arch top guitar I've played. I love this guitar if you get a chance to play one try it out.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action fit and finish were wonderful. I guess for the 3600 list price you would expect that. The bookmatching on the top and back is stunning. I don't know of any other guitars with maple tops in this category. This a very unique instrument, you have to play it and really look at it to fully appreciate what it is. This guitar is very different than anything Gibson makes.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is rock solid, and appears to be fully dependable. The lacquer finish is first rate, as is everything on the guitar,(except in my opinion the pickup).

Customer Support : 2
D'Aquisto has no customer support in the US. You are on your own. The only possible support would be through the dealer. However, an instrument of this quality is not likely to ever have a warranty problem. If there is a problem, take it to your favorite luthier.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 50 years. I definitely would replace this instrument if it were stolen. I would probable recommend a PAF pickup to anyone who has one of these. I think the factory pickups are truly awful on every D'Aquisto guitar I've played. I love the light weight and playability. This is truly a magnificent guitar. I have quite a number of jazz guitars, and this is my favorite for medium combos.
