17 inch laminated spruce top, maple sides and back. Maple neck. Ebony fingerboard. Mother-of-Pearl inlay, bound body, neck and "F" holes. 1 Kent Armstrong humbucker (mounted) - 1 volume, 1 tone mounted on pickguard, Grover Imperial machine heads, ebony bridge, "staircase" tortoise pickguard, and gold-colored "staircase" tail piece. My guitar is black, and was shipped in a medium-quality brown hardshell case. I believe that cases are no longer included with the company "on-line" price.

Punchy, yet mellow. Chord overtones are lush, but can also be shimmering if needed . Kent Armstrong humbucker delivers a rich jazz tone - not as dark as a Gibson ES 175, rather "acoustical" like some of the tones heard on Russell Malone recordings. I play my guitar through a Polytone Mini-Brut II and a Fender Performer 1000.

I supposedly lucked out and received a perfectly setup guitar from the company. Action, frets, and intonnation - all excellent. I love the ebony bridge, and prefer the responsiveness over a "tune-a-matic" style bridge. I noticed a very minor blemish at the top of the headstock - something that would be considered "standard" on many of the newer Gibsons coming down the pike today...

This guitar is gig-ready. It's well-constructed with strap buttons factory installed so you can play standing up or sitting down. For a "jazz gig," I plan to use this axe exclusively - it's not routed as deep as my ES 175 & ES 165, and in addition to this comfort issue, I again love the punchy, yet smooth tone of this instrument.

Like previous reviews - D'Angelico was swamped; I orderd my guitar on December 4, 2006, and received it on January 15th. I had to call a couple of times before I even knew the guitar was back ordered. However, the wait was worth it!

I've been playing professionally for 27 years. I own a couple of Gibson jazz boxes, along with a couple of "Setzer" Gretsches. This guitar is a welcomed addition to my collection as I paln to keep it, play it a lot, and just plain out slap it on an ebony stand and admire it while I listen to Russell Malone, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Bruno, George Benson, and Henry Johnson.
