Daion guitars were built only for a few years from the end of the 70s to the early 80s by Japanese guitar manufacturer Yamaki.
The Mugen MK II is a Dreadnaught with a solid Cedar top, Rosewood back & sides,Ivory bound neck and body, a Mahogany neck and a bone saddle. Glossy finish with an undercoated pickguard and Handcarved logo on Headpiece. The custom tuners look and work great.

Sound : 10
This is one of the best sounding guitars I ever had - unbeatable for the price.
We use it in the studio along Martins, Takomas, Taylors & so on and rather often it??s the one ending on tape.
It sounds full and warm with a rich tonal quality that suits many styles of recordings - either picked or strummed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is pretty low but the neck is not particularily thin - hence the sound ;-).
The overall build quality is up to par with the best manufaturers out there & Daion is definitely a good example for the high quality of japanese craftsmanship in the early 80s.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is more than 25 years old and still looks & plays great, so I guess that??s what I??d call reliable.
I don??t play live any more but I wouldn??t have a problem using it on a gig any time (not without a backup because I??d never play a gig without backups ;-)).

Customer Support : No Opinion
As said before, the company ceased to exist long ago.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I play guitar since 1977 & owned & still own a great variety of guitars from Manufacturers as Martin, Gibson, Fender, Takoma, Framus, Hoyer etc.
I found the Mugen Mark II five years ago in a shop & fell in love instantly.
Several of my guitars have been sold since then but not the Daion.
If you??d force me at gunpoint to find something which is not absolutely perfect for me, it would be the size of the neck. But many great sounding guitars are sporting stronger necks.
If it were stolen I??d try hard to get another one - even for twice the price I have paid.
