As already listed, two volumes, two tones, one three-way switch for pickup selection, one two-way switch for neck selection. When I first got it, I too wished that you could activiate both necks together, however, I've found that you can do some cool things without it. Sometimes I'll play the inactivated neck and record the sympathetic vibrations from the activated neck. Coolage!

Sound : 9
As mentioned in other Dano reviews, there's just something about that tone. It's clean and clear. It can be overdriven somewhat, though it's not metal by any stretch of the imagination. The baritone sound is great too. I can't really hear a difference between pickups when a bass has more than one pickup, but I can really hear the difference on the baritone neck.

Here's where the points are lost. The nut was unevenly filed. The glue that held the tape had softened, so the tape is wrinkled in places. (This must have been an issue with Danelectro, because I've seen worse versions of the same problem on some U2's and Longhorn basses at some local music stores. Given that these things were going for around $500 when they came out, I think that they should have been done a better job with that one.

Reliability/Durability : 7
So far, so good. I just sent back a new U2 where the top came unglued from the body. I used to work in a factory that made hollow core wood products, so I've seen this kind of failure before. But so far, so good. I've played it for about four years, and it's served me well.

Haven't dealt with them.

I've seen some Danelectros that wouldn't withstand hard gigging. Aside from the aforementioned problems which are slight, this doubleneck has done well so far.

This is a new Danelectro Baritone Doubleneck. Gotoh tuners, lipstick pickups, blackburst finish, pleather binding and strap buttons. Although Dano's have a bad rep for being cheap, they turn out a good prouduct. It was set up at Elderly Instruments, so no problems there. I had it shipped in a tweed case, which was bigger steal than the guitar at $100.

Sound : 10
I loved it right out of the box. Great acoustic sound, which surprised me. The electric sound is good, but the baritone has the most punch. The regular 6 is still great, but after that bass boom from the baritone, the regular feels like a toy!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Again, set up nicely at Elderly. No flaws or mistakes. The pickups are good and the necks are both set up nicely. No complaints.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is fragile because of the two necks, but other than that, I have no worries.

I have a large guitar collection and am constantly looking for new and interesting sounds. I like to be known as more of an artist than a 'guitarist', so things like this keep the new music flowing. I would definitely recommend this to those looking for a darker flavor to their music, while keeping the kitsh factor high!

I love Dano's, for the money you can't beat them. I bought this doubleneck off of EBAY for$289.00 !! A steal for this guitar. Has only 2 volume and 2 tone controls for both necks thus 4 pickups. When you switch from one neck to the next you have to reset controls. I did say switch necks, because only one neck can be active at a time, this I don't like. However I love this guitar, I have 8 other guitars but Dano's play very easily. I love their necks, and I do a lot of fingerstyle picking and they play as easily as my Martin.Bridge saddle is wood, could be better but het that's why we have Guitar Center!

Sound : 9
The Baritone neck is very rich sounding, the reg 6 is ok but doesn't quite measure up to the Baritone side, don't know why. Very clean sounding, I run it through a Marshall AR80 for accoustic sounds and a Fender Twin AMP for more blues and rock.I'm not into distortion, may be chimes or light fuzz, so this does well with that

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Well, it is a Dano! What yoiu expect but on the other hand it is extremly light for a doubleneck, and lets face it folks, hanging a couple of 490r pickups on a cutout maple body with crappy finish is what Gibson does on a Les Paul, then they charge you Over $2000.00,and it isn't set up right! One strap button had been stripped out but I fixed that easily enough. I found the setup not too far off, but a word of caution, to tweek the neck you have to take it off the guitar, then I would know how to set it accuratly.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Strap button needed replaced but I fixed it more solid they original stock. Finish is Plastic over masonite and it takes a lot of wear. I would drop this guitar but they are a lot stronger then they look. I have another Dano and it has held up very well on gigs, in fact my Guild needs more care then it does.

You can select each neck seperately, not both.

Par for the Dane course.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
AS someone else said, the guitar neck is impossible to play in the first position because the baritone neck tuners hit you hand. Simple solution woukld be to put the Baritone neck on the bottom. This makes better sense anyway.

I tried to switch the necks myself but it cannot be done because there is no wood support block to hold the new bridge placement necceasary for the baritone.

I bought it because it looked cool and realy didnt expect much (I only paid 200.00 new from a store that got it because a dealer didnt want it) I have been told it is a piece of plywood, not that heavy on the body but the headstock weighs a bit. Goth tuners, lipstick pickups, 23 frett on baratone and 22 on 6 string. 2 tone and 2 volume.

Sound : 10
It sounds great! I play through an acoustic 4x12 and aboss hm-3 distortion pedal and it completely rocks! I have the 6 in drop d tuneing and the baratone in a flat. It is cool to play the neck that isnt on and it resonates through the other neck. it has a full but bright sound and has never let me down.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The only thing I dont like is how the headstock for the 6 is to close to the baratone neck and my hand hits it while playing. everything else was in reel good shape.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I play it live at least 7 times a month and dont have a case for it. I pull it out from behind my seat and it is always intune. I would have no problem going to a gig solo with it. I am not sure how long the tape binding will last but it is holding up so far.

Single coil soapbar pickups on both guitar and baritone, body is plywood I guess ? No Tune-O-Matic here but it does seem to have very good intonation for a straight wood bridge ! Gotoh tuners keep this axe in tune very well. Bear bones guitar but everything functions beautifully.

Sound : 10
I've been playing for 25 years and I play all styles of music. I play through various amps depending on the situation and this guitar sounds great through every amp I've put it through ! I was really surprised by the tone that came out of this guitar, the baritone sounds great but the six string was the one that really inspired me. It cuts but not in a negative way, it has just the right balance ! I never knew plywood could sound so good !

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Both necks have a great traditional feel and are very comfortable to play. The neck pickups had to be lowered a good bit so they would not overpower the bridge pickups but once I made the adjustments everything was fine. The tone and volume controls are a little tricky because if you turn one the other one usually catches and turns too.

At the price you can get one of these things for everyone should own one ! This is a great sounding guitar no matter what the price tag is, sure it's a plywood plank but it sure does sound good. There really is something about these soap bar pickups ! Not really suited for heavy metal but for rock, blues, country and even clean jazz this guitar is an incredible value ! Go right out and gitcha one today :^)
