mage in korea, grover tuners - nice, intonatable bridge, short scale neck, wider neck than the u2 reissues. electrics are a bit crackly on the knobs and switches. No problem with hum. plastic strap buttons.
sea foam green - excellent. laminate body.

sounds like no other - the danlectro sound is unbelievable especially for the price. this is the best of their models IMO and I have had a few. I get get a crystalline recorded sound out of this , that I couldn't with my SG Junior reissue or fender strat. cranked up it can sound like early sonic youth. You can play it unplugged and it has a great natural acoustic ring and vibration.

Playability is superb with a nice neck, low and plenty of give in the strings. Its body is made of formica I think - what a genius manufacturing move.

considering you could probably wash down the body with ajax you can't go wrong. solid, but the electrics can be flaky. the plastic strap buttons are a bit dodgy.

Danelectros are much better than most guitars in the price range. I'd prefer it to a mexican strat any day, plays better too.
Its a shame they probably get overlooked sometimes because they outplay and sound better than a lot of high end guitars.

It's a Danelectro so nothing fancy but it has tuners that work, a bridge that works and really good quality strap buttons. All the electrics have a good feel, tone and volume are progressive and the pick ups look the part. The overall finish is what Danelectro would descibed as aged, matt paint, slightly yellowed scratch plate, and I like the look on the gold example I bought but was not so convinced with the black one I also looked at - down to personal taste really but the quality is good. This is a well thought out & put together guitar and not just a bargain in it's price range.

First point to make here - this guitar does not sound like older Danelectros either originals or reissues if that's what you want go elsewhere.
Second point it still sounds great, a fat sound with plenty of clarity that dirties up beautifully and has plenty of punch. Good range of sounds rockabilly, classic rock and roll, blues and classic rock are all there and there is probably more to be found if you want it.

The guitar played ok when I got it and a little time spent setting it up, fancy that a Danelectro that's adjustable, got a good low action without any fret buzz or intontion issues.
Fit and finish wise the guitar was excellent not just for a guitar in this price bracket but in comparisom with some much pricier instruments I've come across.

I've only had this guitar for about 6 months but it has been played a lot and gigged regularly and shows every sign of being both reliable and durable.

I love this guitar it is full of character and is a good complement to the hot rodded tele (bare knuckle pickups, 5 way switching) I usually play. If there is one issue with this guitar it is the restricted access to the upper frets caused by the neck body joint, try it out and see for yourself I'm not bothered you might be.
This guitar has character, is fantastic value and sounds great. Would I buy another? Certainly and I'm already collecting together old Danelectro pickups on ebay to fit into another Danelectro Pro.

What you'd expect from a Danelectro: basic. Fat frets, like that. Tuners are great. I also own a U2 reissue which is equipped with vintage tuners that don't work. So I'm very happy with these tuners! The adjustable bridge seems like a good feature but I never had any intonation problems on the U2 reissue. The good thing is the strings will stay in place when you bend a lot. The bad thing is that the sound is different (more sustain, not very Danelectroish).

It sounds much fatter -and in a band setting more useable- than my U2 reissue and my Silvertone Amp in Case 2 pickup guitar. The U2 and the Silvertone sound very much alike and sound much thinner but more defined, especially in the middle position. Nevertheless the Pro sounds insanely good! I play old funk and soul music, it's the ideal guitar for that job in my opinion. My Gibson ES135 (with SD P90's), my vintage Tele and my John Mayer Strat are unemployed right now. Beaten by a 200 euro guitar, shame on them!

The action was maybe a bit to high but that's very easy to adept. Now the action is low and the guitar plays like a dream. No rattles and dead spots whatsoever. The finish is just amazing, really good. The neck feels and plays fantastic. It looks and feels solid, at least for a Danelectro. It's just a really well built guitar, much better than my expensive Gibson for instance. I don't like the 'vintage' scratchplate. It's off-white, almost yellowishbrowndirty but the scratchplate on my '60's Silvertone is still white as snow...

I have the guitar now for four weeks and no bits have fallen off yet. My U2 re??ssue feels and looks weaker and is less well built and is still in one piece (it's about 10 years old) and works perfectly. So I'd expect the Pro to be even better.

I'm going to collect every new Danelectro model from now on. I already have the Longhorn bass (in the past I didn't like playing the bass, now I cannot stop anymore, brilliant instrument!). I'm waiting for the baritone that looks like my Silvertone, I really want to have that guitar! Concerning the Pro, it's sound, it's playability, it's built quality and especially it's price: if you don't buy one you're a idiot.

Bought new in March 2008.
Neck joins body at 12th fret. Bigger problem than I thought.
2 Lipstick tubes and these are pretty high output. P-90 type of output.
Typical Dano-painted masonite, plastic "binding".
Gotoh tuners and fully adjustable bridge-major improvement over the originals.
Wide neck (12 to 14" radius I'm guessing-great for ham fisted players.

If you are a tele player this is a great addition to your collection. It flat out twangs. Great country, rockabilly weapon.
Distinctive sound, great middle position sound (wired in series I think)

I think this is a solid guitar. It will hold up.
I swapped out pots and switches. They were cheap.
Went to Schaller strap locks right away.
I don't gig, but UI took it to jam, and I have no reservations.

40 years of pickin'-own many Fenders. May have to buy more Danos, a double cut to get past fret 12.
This is better than the dano I had in Jr. High. Bought it for the vibe, got a great player.

Brand new straight from China... as Americans we should be concerned that a guitar of this quality and fit and finish should come from a country that was a short time ago known for producing garbage. That being said, this instrument makes the original a wall hanger. it plays like a someone took an original and put a grand worth of work into and sold it to you. They are that good.

I've been playing before Noah built the Arc and play stricty Tele's. I pick up a stray guitar now and then if I like the vibe just to bang around.
You could easily play a gig with this guitar and if it were stolen I would just buy another one.

First of all, I received it from an eBay store in CA, and it played like buttah straight..out..the box. Unbelievably easy and smooth. All frets make the right note.
I am really surprised by the build quality of this thing. Maybe I was expecting a train wreck, but yeah; very smooth work. If you didn't know it was made of ply-Masonite, you'd never guess. It feels quite solid. There's just enough acoustic sound unplugged to make it much more alive (without an amp) than my Carvin Tele, which costs nearly three times as much. Maybe my favorite thing is that the whole package is satin finish: neck, body, hardware, pickguard; the Carvin is a shining example of gloss and therefore a reason it's been sitting in its case for how many months. I was expecting a good amount of single coil hum, but I was surprised at the relatively good behavior; yes, it still hums, but nowhere near as much as I feared. Again, expecting a train wreck. (Why did I buy it sight unseen in the first place?)
I think I am only disappointed in two areas: The tuners don't hold very tightly for very long; The pickguard is SO thick, probably 1/16"-3/32." Oh, and this is the first guitar I've played where the pickup switch gets knocked around by strumming.

- been waiting eagerly for this since they announced it in march. Hey, am I really the first around here to appreciate this beauty?
- typical dano features: wood-composite body, unlike other danos, this comes in a "dull" finish, hardware, scratchplate and the white tape around the body are slightly "aged". Looks ok to me.
- the body style differs from anything you've seen before - unless you're familiar with dano's original "pro1" from the 50ies. I love it.
- nothing fancy: 2 lipstick PUs, standard tuners, adjustable bridge, toggle, vol. and tone swith. What else do you need to rock?
Sound
:

I think I play 60ies-style rock. But hey, I'm German - it would probably sound all krauty to your international ears. Lots of droning, reverb, delay and fuzz freakout.
My amp is a '65 Fender Princeton Reverb that makes just about any crappy guitar sound good - which is why I don't own high-euro axes anymore. But I do play an excellent sounding Fenix tele most of the time and the dano pro honks out just as nicely. The PUs are hot enough to make the Prince break up at around 5.
I use a couple of FX, and to my ears the dano responds to my RAT and BIG MUFF even nicer than the tele. You can still hear every single note clearly even if the distortion gets real ugly. Amazing.
Though I'm not a big fan of humbuckers, the toggle postion that switches both lipsticks together (and makes them a hum in fact) sounds best to my ears.

Made in China - so what? Mine is almost perfect. If you've ever looked at the "worn"-models that a certain US maker offers for around 800 Euros, you'll be astounded by this little guitar that costs a fraction. It came via mail order with the intonation spot on, even halfway decent strings - 10s, I believe. The action could be lower, bu I'll see to that myself. Hell, even the white tape is aligned perfectly - not so with many other Dano reissues I've seen. Not sure about the quality of the controls though, the toggle is a bit flimsy.

I will definitely play this thing live. I've got a 12-string Dano as well, which sounds cool (not many 12stringers in Germany), turns heads and is very robust. I hardly ever break strings, and i have dared play without a backup. But the Dano Pro is very lightweight, so why not carry around one more guitar.

Been playing for 30 years. Got a wonderful amp and a couple good guitars. This adds beautifully to my little collection. It is loud enough for practicing with no amp and thus gets a lot of play at home. Looks very unique and sounds great. Not for the 20th-fret-noodlers though - it only has 19 frets.
