Not sure of the year. This guitar was bought new in the early "70"s. Has twenty-one frets, semi-hollow body shaped like a Gibson ES335 with two volume and two tone knobs. Three-way pickup selector toggle switch and two lipstick type pickups. It also has a trapeze style tailpiece with the letter "C" design on it. This guitar has a wooden bridge with a dot fingerboard and it looks like aluminum or some type of metel nut, with an almost Fender style headstock with all the tuners on one side attached on a single bar. Tuners and pickup switch looks like a dull aluminum color too. The guitar looks like it's Plywood and red in color with cream color bindings. The guitar jack is on the bottom side of the instrument and it also has a transparent pick guard on it. Of course pickups are passive. The volume and tone knobs are cheap black and silver plastic. I put Rickenbacker knobs on it for a cooler look. I also took the pickguard off.

It's a really old guitar and it dose not suit my style now. I play Contemporary Christian with a jazzy/afro-cuban type feel. This guitar is not good with effects, maybe a wah or some delay will work. You cant really use distortion or overdrive your amp because it feedbacks like crazy. It's very good for chordal rhythm work. This guitar has a thin woody tone due to the pickups. It also sounds a bit like a Telecaster (bridge position). Many varieties of sounds can be made.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action is very good and low. The bridge is one wooden piece with string notches in it. No tunamatics on this bridge. The original bridge cracked in half and I had a newer one put on at the shop. The bridge is held in place with the strings. After almost thirty years the guitar still looks pretty good. There is a little chipping here and there and the binding is trying to come loose. The guitar is bright red and the pickup selector is a bit noisy when changing pickup positions.

I dont play this guitar much at all now and wouldnt trust much live playing with it because it is such a light and delicate instrument. It could very well be crushed if not careful compared to a Les Paul or a Fender Strat. It's a thick coat of finish on it so it's been lasting the test of time. Strap buttons are very secure and I would not use it without a backup.

I've been playing for 36 years and own quite a bit of equipment. When this guitar was bought I was really influenced by a lot of rockers in the early seventies and many of them were playing ES-335's. and I wanted something that looked close to that instrument. I didnt really know what I was buying at the time. This guitar has no inner block, it's just straight hollow body and can sound acoustic with heavy strings on it. If it was stolen I dont think I could find another one like this. After thirty years or so I havent seen another yet. I would like an ES 335/345 or 355. I love those axxes. If anyone can help me with the model please let me know or if you've seen another one like this.
