Made in Indonesia by small children under paid I'm sure....
It hac a pewter grey/almost green finish. SG/pre Fender Guild style body with the Guild style stop tail piece.
2 Humbuckers, original bridge pup (it sucks), and a Seymour Duncan Invader 7 (this thing screams) in the neck. The pick up was the only reason I bought this guitar, I figured if it sucks I could yank it out and put it into my Schecter Gryphon 7.
The tuners are absolute sh**. I will be replacing them soon.

Sound : 4
I really like how this guitar plays, I was seriously suprised at the neck.
Like I said the bridge pup is crap, I can only assume the original bridge pup was just as bad. I will be replacing the neck pup.
This goes through a Carvin vintage 50 head and Fender 4x12 cab, and an RP 150.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Bought it off of E-Pay, came with a hardshell case. Eventually I will resolder the semi set up guts with another w/Seymour Duncan Invader7.
Tuners work but are pretty lame.
What do you expect for the price.
It's really not a bad guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I notice alot of reviewers noting this is a heavy guitar, I really can't agree. The neck is a little heavier than the body so it tilts a bit. But it really isn't heavy, just my humble opinion.
Strap buttons are crap I agree, strap locks are needed.
I would gig with this thing, I can beat on it. The control pots are a bit flimsy when I am adjusting volume and tone.
Finish is holding up so far....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dearmond was bought by Fender and they discontinued this line all together.
They were made for a few years only.
I am pretty self sufficient as far as repair.
No need for support altough Fender does a pretty good job if you email or call them.

Overall Rating : 8
Playing 20 years,
I own 25+ guitars all different brands and types.
If it was stolen I would probably try and find another, but if I couldn't I would just buy another Seymour Duncan Invader 7 and drop it in the Schecter.
I know this probably seems more like a review for the Invader 7.....

This guitar was made starting in 2000, and only for a short run. So somewhere around 2000. 22 frets, 23 3/4 scale. Two DeArmond 7-string double humbucker pickups, Seperate volume and tone controlls for each pickup, three bridge settings, Black finish. SG body, non locking tuners of poorish quality, very awesome neck.

Sound : 7
Well, I play metal and screamo with this guitar, and in all honesty, the noise in the pickups can be a little annoying. My Line6 Spyder III amp like to give feedback whenever I turn the gain up nice and high also with this guitar, but If the gain is to low, the guitar doesn't sound too nice. However, if you just play bluesy music, it absolutely rules. I just keep one pick selection turned off so I can aviod noise between numbers.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Well, my guitar was abused I think, because the body is in rough shape, i need to do some serious touch ups. However, the only noticible thing is the seventh string tuner doesn't hold tune well. But it could be the tuner as well, so all in all a tough guitar, very nice to look at!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Well, this guitar is weighted very poorly, and it slides down if you play it stainding. So I need to buy strap locks and all my problems will be solved. My guitar always wants to stay at horizontal, I've never had problems with it falling and hitting the floor, and I do screaming and playing, so my hands are by no means always on my guitar. Everything seems solid, and I've found it more dependable than some of my really expensive guitars. I wouldn't feel I needed to bring a back up, but then again I only own 1 seven string.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to find out, though I imagine it's non existant.

Overall Rating : 10
I wish the tuners were more solid, but I am pleased as punch with it. When you finally find the right gain levels this guitar is nothing but unrestrained pleasure. Cheap, and solid. For 200 bucks it's more than anything I could ever ask for!

i'm not sure of the year, but i know they were introduced in 2000, and not made for very long. it's black, tune-o-matic, sort of SG shaped (actually it's a dead ringer for the old Guild S100), two humbuckers, 24.75 scale.

Sound : 5
the pickups were okay sounding, but they picked up a lot of noise (even being humbuckers). i replaced them with Lollar P90's. i like the natural sound of the guitar a lot.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
the finish is fine (basic black) and the guitar plays great...i love the neck. unfortunately the cheap hardware it comes with is unreliable and was replaced (tuners, bridge, nut)

Reliability/Durability : 5
the hardware is cheap and unreliable. that's why i replaced it. the finish seems solid.

Customer Support : 1
fender bought dearmond, then stopped production on these guitars after a short time.

Overall Rating : 6
this guitar is a great platform for modding/upgrading. the guitar itself is very nice & once the pickups and hardware have been upgraded, it's a real gem. these can still be found for very little money. if you feel like putting a little time and a bit more money into it, it is totally worth it.

Made inIndonesia in 99.Agathis body,SG style,in Moon Blue.Nato neck with 22 frets @ 24 3/4 scale,rosewood fretboard and block inlays.Tuners are Grover style in chrome.2 DeArmond passive humbuckers,2 tone,2 volume and a 3-way toggle switch.Black 3-layer pickguard(black,white,black).The bridge is a Tune-O-Matic style with the Guild type tailpiece.

Sound : 7
I bought this one because I really liked the one I already own.I like the sound of this one but it is different than the one I already had.It has a brighter sound. Why,I don't know. All the electronics appear to be identical. My only conclusion is it is a different year and the woods came from a different batch or the elecronics were manufactured differently. While the dynamics are similar, the pickups don't seem as hot.I like the sound though as it gives me more variety between this one and the one I already had.I have discovered one of the pots is wired backwards and this may account for the difference in the sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought this of eBay so I can't comment on the factory setup. The guy I got it from claims he bought it less than a year ago from a shop that had it since new.And it seems brand new.No scratches and everything looks practically brand new.The gap between the fret board overhang and the body is much tighter on this on than my other one.Overall I like the feel better than the other one I have. The finish is beautiful.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Yes,it will withstand live playing.Solid polyurethane finish that is beautiful.I bought it as a backup should I start playing live and because I like these guitars so much.I like the placement of the strap buttons, although some may find it weird.

Customer Support : No Opinion
DeArmond is now owned by Fender.I haven't had to request any assistance from them so I can't comment.

As stated in my previous review,I've been looking for an SG type guitar for 20+ years and a 7-string for a few.The S-67 7-string is the guitar I've been looking for in both cases.I will probably own a third should I come across one.If you're looking for an alternative to the other current 7-string offerings by companies like Ibanez and Schecter, you should check these out. While they are no longer made, they seem to pop up on eBay once in awhile.

Not sure of the year but I believe it's a 2000-2001,made in Indonesia. Agathis body is an SG-style, the bolt-on Nato neck has 22 frets and block inlays with a 24 3/4 scale.Crimson Red Transparent. 2 passive DeArmond 7-string humbuckers with 2 tone, 2 volume and a 3-way toggle.Tune-o-matic style bridge with the Guild style tailpiece. The tuners are covered chrome.

Sound : 7
The sound is good! I just run a fuzz pedal between it and my combo and it has a VERY thick sound. The clean tone is pretty good too.I've cranked my amp and haven't had any feedback problems at all.The sound is dark and not overly bright, which suits me fine.As far as variety, if you're buying a 7-string variety probably isn't your priority.Good at what it is.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Since I bought this used, I can't say how it was setup from the factory. Mine plays well. The action is fine, the pickups seem adjusted well, although at some point I'll probably fine tune them to my liking. Some other reviews I've read have complained of a big gap in the neck joint.I think what their referring to is how the fretboard overlaps the body. There is a gap between the fretboard and the body, but I've seen that on higher end guitars where they have an overlapping fretboard, so I wouldn't consider it unusual or sloppy fitting. The finish is typical of most polyurethane imports. It looks good and the grain is nice.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Some of the other reviews mention the weight of this guitar as a deterrent to playing it live.I won't deny that it's heavier than any SG I've ever come across, but it's not any heavier than most Les Paul style guitars.A wider strap helps.Funny though,it stills suffers from the typical neck heaviness most SG style guitars have.Strap buttons are solid.I think it's dependable, but I never gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with the company, but thet've been bought out by Fender anyway.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been looking for an SG style guitar for 20+ years. This has fit the bill like no other. If I decide to get a 6-string SG style I'll be looking at the DeArmond setnecks.I find it the most comfortable SG style guitar I've ever played. It's also the most comfortable 7-string I've ever handled.I tried several Ibanez 7-strings and just didn't like them. But I haven't ever found an Ibanez I liked either. Not a bash on Ibanez, they're just not my thing.I'm not waiting for it to get lost or stolen,I've already got another one on the way.I play Doom type stuff (Sabbath,Obsessed,St. Vitus,Dio,Place of Skulls,Pentagram)and this guitar seems designed for what I play.I'm giving it a 7 overall because it's not a setneck, which is my preference, otherwise I'd give it an 8.

**An SG-style body with 7 strings, that's just insane.(+1)**
Made in Singapore; 22 jumbo frets; solid top; 2 volumes, 2 tones, 3-way selector; H/H; passive elec.; mahogany; blue sparkle finish; SG-style body, Tune-O-Matic w/ stop tailpiece; non-locking tuners; 25.5"-scale neck.

*My setup is a Marshall 30watt amp and a Digitech rp200 multi effects pedal.

I play a wide arrange of music, from blues to heavy metal, and this guitar can play each. It has a "fat" sound at the neck pickup(i think) and sounds very accurate. Most surprising is the sound i get when I run it through my RP200 (i usually play "recitfy" or the "bad bad" factory settings) it sounds really good. I have always played it in Standard tuning (EADGBE) and due to the hotter pickups it plays distortion perfect. But with the added top B, it can really growl on heavier riffs. Another 7-string i own, Ibanez Rg7-621 (tuned down one whole step) doesn't have the accented sound the DeArmond does. The DeArmond, quite honestly, has a nice sound. Much better than i
anticipated. Also, the pickups don't seem to have a feedback or static problems.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought the S-67 of ebay and didn't know what to expect as far as the action, fit, and finish to be like. When it arrived it was setup perfectly, it goes and stays in tune, the action isn't too low or high and the finsh i flawless. Many have complaints about the tuners, sloopy craftmanship of the pickup-guard and such, but it all looked ok. My only complaint is the space between the end of the fretboard and the body of the guitar. Plus, I hate the way the volume knobs have the "D" on them, but that can be very easily fixed.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It is a heavy guitar with a solid body and the front strap button is oddly placed(on the back) which is gay, in my opinion. Nothing has began to fall apart yet and i would never gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno about the customer support, i heard DeArmond wasn't making anymore guitars, though.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing about 3 years and seeing as how I _only_ paid $150 for this, i think I may have gotten the most for my money. It plays great, much better than those lower end guitars for $300 major manufacturers have. I just love the sound this guitar offers, and the mean growl the top "B" offers, it's a very versatile guitar. I've compared it to my Ibanez Rg170 and my Ibanez RG7-621, and this one gets most used, next to my rg7-621. For more mean and harder riffs i use the Rg7-621. If it got stolen, I'd buy another off ebay! :P

Made in indonesia, 22 frets, Moon blue top,3-way switch 2 volume, 2 tone knobs. The pickups are humbucker (dearmond?) The neck is a little fater than most, but there is an extra string. It is a bolt on neck, and seems to stay tuned, but like others I replaced the strings.

Sound : 7
this thing has the hottest pickup I have ever seen. distortion is not a problem. I have a marshall G50rcd that I use at home and a Roland JC-120 for gigs. The jc-120 is the cleanest amp made and I can't get it to destort with any other guitar ( have to use effects) this one will make it do it. Where did they get those? It can go from bright to dark & muddy. I really don't expect to use it much, but wanted a 7 string.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I bought this guitar used, and it seemed setup OK. I did replace the strings and tighten the tuners.

Reliability/Durability : 6
with stand live playing? sure, unless you like to trash them at the end of a set. The strap button is on the back front, kind of anoying. never gig without a backup. Get as many as you can with diffrent sounds. there are some cheap ones out there that have a sound all there own (not bad either).

I've been playing for 9 years many hoours a day. I bought this guitar because I wanted a 7 string to check out. I have a dearmond m75t and that one is a nice peace of work! I hoped this would be the same quality, but they must have changed the maufacturer when fender bought guild. The m75t was made in korea. Lost/ stolen - report it get the insurance money, and serch for another 7 string. if one was avalible at the right price I'd buy it again. it is neck heavy. I own several guitars Gibosn les Paul, fender tel, Ibanez, and dearmond, this one doesn't have thwe quality feel that some of the othe high priced guitars have, but it wasn't high priced. for the price range it's a ten (10) compare to a squire and this one beats it hands down. (notice I don't own a squire) if your looking for a 7 string thats cheap and fairly good quality, check this one out.

O.K. 22 frets,2 humbuckers, trans. red finish. 1999 model.tone, volume controls set up like an sg.

Sound : 9
I bought this guitar srictly for heavy metal rhythm playing and maybe some finger plucking with the 7th string. I opened the box and was pleased with the basic guitar. nice finish and hardware. not the best but real good for a $275 guitar. frets set up just about perfect. much better than your typical gibson fret job but that is not saying much having owned several.anyway, I had to adjust the truss rod and intonation was off a hair as was the string height. once adjusted it played O.K. but, it did'nt look very promising. acoustic type playing was very good. sounds more like a gibson guitar than anything else but, the distorted sounds were shitty sounding to be honest.horrible harmonics, bad sound, I tried turning the volume down, adjusted this and that and could only sqeeze a slight improvement out of it so I went and bought some ernie ball super slinky strings for it. the .009-.052 size. re intonated and was amazed at what a set of strings could do. they must ship these guitars with the world's worst strings because playability went way up and the sound was night and day. this guitar flat rocks like you would not believe!this thing is still good for acoustical playing styles. sound wise. but, for heavy metal this guitar rules.it will hang with the best in the sound dept. which was a surpprise considering the no name and price of this guitar.the bottom line is I have to give this guitar a 9 for heavy metal sounds and a 7 for everything else

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
guitar was poorly setup at the factory. neck fit was good. pickups, string height and just about everything else was set up like shit. you can count on redoing all the basic stuff when you get this guitar. frets were set up real good.all the main stuff is good.finish and hardware were very nice for $275.one real complaint, shitty bridge set up. they are way off. I thought the neck was on crooked until I realized that the bridge slots were grooved in the wrong place misaligning the strings.

Reliability/Durability : 9
guitar is built to last. hardware is O.K. as well as the finish. it is a little neck heavy so get a strap that does not slip on your shoulder and get rid of the strap buttons, they suck.

I have been playing 20 plus years and love heavy metal. the newer the better. as well as spacey sounds and easy listening mood music believe it or not.after set up and string change. I emphasize CHANGE THE STRINGS!!!it is great for heavy metal rhythm.very pleased and I am demanding. I would buy again if stolen. excellent value for the money! I have heard that de armond is owned by fender. maybe that explains the bang for buck value. you may have to turn the volume down on the pickups as they are very high output.

I think it was made in 2000, 22 Fret, separate volume/tone knobs for each pickup (both 7 string DeArmond humbuckers), Pewter Grey finish, Tune-O-Matic Stoptail, you can read the rest on the other reviews. The neck didn't seem that fat to me. Obviously larger because it's a 7 string, but it's not obnoxious. My Ibanez nick is a good deal better, but this one isn't too horrible. The neck joint sucks, though, and makes hitting the 20+ frets on anything but the highest two strings near impossible. It doesn't taper off at all from the body to the neck. Just kind of a big block.

Sound : 7
My setup involves an Ampeg VT-22 amp, Ibanez tone-lok Chorus/Flanger and Smashbox distortion, DOD Tuna (tuner pedal) and a DOD Grind (or something like that) distortion pedal. It sounded like crap through the DOD distortion, but so does every other guitar so you can't hold that against this guitar. It just seemed a bit worse. It sounded pretty good through the Ibanez distortion when I had the bass turned most of the way up and the treble about 1/2 way on the pedal, and the bass and treble just past half with midrange cut almost completely out on the amp. But that's the sound I like. It seems kind of bassy, almost like the bridge pickup is set too close to the neck or something, but I don't think that is it. I didn't really like the sound too much for my playing. I play mostly heavier metal, with all the strings dropped one step (ADGCFAD). I screwed around with it for blues, and it seemed to be a bit more suited to that type of sound because it was just too garbled when it was distorted, unless I turned the drive on the pedal down a lot, and then it wasn't distorted enough. It's hard to explain. Sit down with one at a guitar store before you buy it (obviously) and you'll probably see what I mean. I also own and Ibanez RG7420BP and I would HIGHLY recommend that one over this one, even though this one is a good deal cheaper. The guitar gave out a good clean tone, however. No complaints with that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
No serious problems besides the fact that it was a stock setup and I detune, so I obviously had to do some adjustments. The finish was great. It has a great color and looks pretty cool.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I would NOT NOT NOT recommend this thing for live playing. First of all, it's a VERY heavy guitar. And it is weighted wrong, with the front strap button being in an awkward place (on the back of the guitar at the tip of the top horn). The neck is heavy, and it is constantly tipping forward. If you are going to play it live, you will NEED straplocks because of the awkward position of the front straplock and the heavy neck. If you move around at all, you'll lose the strap. And probably the neck too if you let go too much and it sends itself careening towards the ground. It's hard to play standing up without moving, much less a live show. It's fine for sitting down. The finish is solid as hell it seems. I haven't been able to put a scratch or anything in it, and I've bumped a few things in my cluttered room at college. One other slight problem with live playing is the location of the pickup selector. It's down by the volume/tone knobs, and I tend to bump into it sometimes if I'm playing real heavy and moving around, causing the pickups to switch. That isn't good cause I keep the neck pickup turned off to do cut-off effects Tom Morello style. Depending on how wild you are with your hand, you may find that to be a problem, The guitar does seem like it was built to last, though. I wouldn't be too concerned with that. Don't even think about doing a show without a backup. That's just ridiculous.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had a problem with it. Seems very solid, though, and I don't think too much could go wrong with it

Overall Rating : 8
I haven't been playing for too long, and as I said before I own a Ibanez RG7420. I would probably keep this one as a backup, but definitely not a main guitar. I wish I would have played it standing up at the guitar store. If it were stolen, i'd be pissed but I probably wouldn't get another one of these.
I do like the clean tone, and I would miss that though. I hate playing it standing up. It just tips too damn much.
I chose it because I wanted a cheap seven string. It's a damn good value for the money, especially if you just want to learn how to play a 7 string while sitting and not at a show. It's good for that. I'm gonna give my rating with that in mind, assuming nobody would buy it for live performance.

This is an Indonesian made, 22 fret, H/H, SG style guitar with a 7th string. It has a standard 25.5 scale with non-locking tuners, a tune-o-matic bridge, and flat metallic pewter gray finish.

Sound : 9
It does have a "fat" sound from the factory, though I feel that the strings need to be heavier and have more tension. It does have a bright clean sound and isn't very noisy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action you will have to fool with. Mine was too high on the high strings and too low on the bottom, but that is to taste. For the price I can overlook a few very small scratches on the back of the guitar. The neck pocket is tight as any I've seen.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This feels like a durable guitar with decent hardware. I'd change the strap buttons to locking, and NEVER go to a gig without a backup. Murphy's Law will get you.

Customer Support : 6
1 year warranty but I don't expect to deal with Fender who owns DeArmond. It takes too long to send away.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
After playing for ten years it was time for something different. I wasn't sure how I'd like having a seventh string, and it feels wide but comfortable. I chose this guitar because it is set up similar to a Gibson SG ( except for scale length) and I like the tune-o-matic bridge. The only downside of the guitar is that it's neck heavy which could cause left-hand fatigue on a gig.
