This wonderful piece was made in mid 2005. It took me about eleven months to receive it. The body is a massive honduras mahogany piece with a maple top(classic black). The neck is also made of mahogany, perfectly set into the body and has a very peculiar "V" shape on its back, which I find quite comfy. The pickups are two Dimarzio custom made humbuckers, whith independent volume knobs and a common tone pot. Grover tuners, tune-0-matic bridge and strings thru body produce an endless sustain. The ebony fretboard is the smoothest thing I have ever played. I have owned It for nearly three years and I still feel like in love with it.

I play this beast through a peavey 6505+. I play in a death metal band, and all I have to do to get a killer tone is moderating the gain at 5-6 and moving my right whrist like a hammer. The bridge pickup sounds fat and chunky, a bit muddy if you abuse of gain. The mix of both pickups gives a nosy tone, as if you were playing whith a soft auto-wah. Neck pickup is perfect for soloing, sounds organic and sweet. This guitar sounds hot and nice at the same time. It also sounds great in the crunch channel.

Considering the long journey this guitar made(U.S.A.-Gemany-spain) it arrived to my hands in perfect condition, I just had to upper the neck picup a little bit and adjust the bridge because of my low tuning. People at Dean really made a good job.

This guitar is pretty much like a tank. It is very heavy. It is almost three years old and it stands like a rock. The neck remains straightand all of the materials are the best quality. It would survive from an earthquake, bombing or whatever. I cannot really know, but I would dare to say this will be my grandsons guitar.

This guitar is simply the best one I have ever played. I love my other guitars( Gibson Flying V, ESP Eclipse) but this one is really special for me. If It were stolen I would just commit suicide. It is the most beautiful and best sounding guitar I have ever had in my hands.

This beauty is a USA Time Capsule Dean ML, number 37 of 50, 22 fret with a solid Maple top and a mahogany body with a sweet ebony fretboard. 2 Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups, in a Brasiliaburst (Tobacco Sunburst) finish with a gorgeous flametop to boot! Tone Pros bridge, string thru, all parts are top quality. Included deluxe hardcase.

I play Modern/Hard Rock and this guitar is perfect. Thru my Crate VC50 head and cab this guitar screams and wails. The neck pickup sounds thick and lush, very much like the neck pup on a good Les Paul...thick, sweet sustain and no mud at all. Tweaking the tone knob you can dial up a decent country/blues/jazz sound with the neck pup. The Bridge is crunchy with big hairy balls. For lead guitar it's damn near perfect. Thick highs and chunky lows. Great midrange. But where this guitar really shines, is with the selector set to both pups. Both Dimarzios are wired out of phase, so by tweaking the Tone knob and both volume pots you can access tones ranging from Zakk Wylde (bright-lots of harmonics), to Eric Johnson(this axe loves harp harmonics), to Joe Perry (pure rockn'roll baby), to Robert Fripp(smooth but deadly), to Billy Gibbons (stangin' blues tone)...the list goes on. This is one of the most versatile guitars I have ever played on.

I recieved this guitar from Bass and Treble music. It was set up fine. No neck tweaking was neccessary, only a new packet of strings, a bridge adjustment and to set the intonation. Easiest set up I've ever done. The pups are wired out of phase (ala Greeny) and are fun to mess with. Also makes the tonal possibilities endless! The top is perfectly bookmatched and is a stunning Tobaccoburst beauty. The fretboard is a handsome, almost pinky coloured ebony with gorgeous abalone dot inlays. It is comfortable to wear and doesn't move around as you play it. It also has excellent upper fret access and is comfortable for 2 handed tap-style playing. I simply cannot fault this guitar. Maybe one point off because the finish collects fingerprints easily HAHAHAHAHA!

I fully intend to gig this guitar. I thought I might keep it at home as a collector piece but after plugging it in I am addicted! This guitar demands to be played live. This guitar is a TANK! The hardware and finish seem durable enough although I haven't had it long enough to properly tell. Strap buttons are solid but I'm still putting straplocks on it.
I would use this guitar at a gig without a backup, however I would never risk that. Hmmm...but if the backup is ANOTHER TC ML? Hmmmm...you guys have me tempted hehehehe...

Hahaha Dean customer service is LEGENDARY!!!! They bend over backwards for their customers. Their CEO will accept and reply to your emails and personally fix problems for you if he can! Elliot is da man. Same goes for Dean. Great company.
Oh and the dealer Bass and Treble music (www.basstreble.com) is beyond excellent service. They're simply the best.

Ok. So this seems like a pretty cock-eyed review. I know what you're thinking. This is just some 15 yr old kid on crack who'se Dad bought him an expensive guitar, but it ain't so. I'm a 26 yr old musician, I've played since I were 12 and I have owned and played my fair share of guitars (mostly Les Pauls). I took a chance with this guitar after hearing the reputation of these Time Capsules. And their sterling reputation is no mistake. These DEAN USA models are some of the best guitars you'll ever play. They look cool, they're solid yet comfortable to play, they sound absolutely badass and most importantly (and this feature is missing from 90% of guitars I've played) these guitars are FUN to play! I can lose myself for hours playing this thing! So many tones to use...so little time! HAHAHA! If this guitar were stolen I would organise a good ol' fashioned ass kicking for the perpetrator, get my guitar back AND I'd force him to buy me another on principle. Seriously I'd replace ot as quickly as I could. This guitar is the killa dilla. Get one now.

simple but effective!
This guitar was made in 2002, signed Timecapsule 42/50!
It has a transparent Braziliaburst flametop which is about teh most gorgeous I have even seen on a guitar!
The guitar is equipped with two custom wound DiMarzio Super Distortion which sound awesome, creamy and thick, but I changed teh Bridge PU because they also tend to be a but muddy for the kind of metal I play!
Grover Tuners (stabile as a rock!) mahogany body, this is premuim Mahogany guys, the guitar is all transparent so yuo can exactly see they used high quality stuff!
The neck V profile is as good as it gets and plays better than any C shaped neck I have ever tried!
Plus the famous DEAN neckjoint is probably teh best constructed ever, real comfortable!
I totally love this thing and it arrived at my door set up flawless and the finish was immaculate! therefore a perfect 10!
I couldn't wish more features

Eeehhmmmm AMAZING, this thing is the reason I have sold all my Gibson and BC RICH guitars.
It sounds so well balanced, tight (with the right PU's) it is silent almost no feedback but of course this is also a matter of teh right PU!
The sound is HEAVY, it's not dark nor very bright, it's a pure metal monster IMO!
I can get some good crunch bluesy sounds out of it, the sustain is incredible, but a eal clean guitars it will never be!

Amazing, Flawless, the action was set up great not too low factory set up, but it can be set up VERY low!
I only made minor adjustments to teh action because I like low action, but I guess that's a matter of taste!
I really can't find any drawbacks anywhere, the solderings were neat and proper, I installed a new Bridge PU so i have had the guitar open, all was FINE!

Liek teh others said a tank, solid neck and headstock set in GREAT in the body, OK if yuo throw it out of your 15 high window it will break OK!
The headstock is solid as a rock doesn't appear it will break ever, unless you mistreat the guitar!

HAHAHA, you all know by now!
You can adress Elliot or Dean personally and if there'a problem they'll promptly take care of it!
Believe I mailed them about how great this guitar was and they all responded personally!
Apart from that I naver needed customer service, but I know being a DEAN OWNER OF AMERICA that many have had GREAT experience with teh service!

middle of the road figure because this is all subjective. For what it's designed to be used for it's excellent. It would be helpful if the pickups were split for single coil tones.

I can only add to what the previous poster mentioned about his Time Capsule ML. I have #48 of 50 and it is, to say the very least, a beautiful instrument and a pleasure to play and listen to. The finish and contruction is absolutely flawless and until you've checked out the necks and fretboards on these you'll never know what you're missing.

Best of all, it's signed by Dean himself on the headstock! All of the production Time Capsules are individually numbered and signed by Dean.

The Custom DiMarzio Super Distortion pick ups are out of this world. You can get a real dirty sound as well as some surprisingly clean tones. Since this is such a "long" bodied guitar, I think the sound resonates better and creates an overall better tone. This large surface area garners incredible sustain from such a beautiful piece of wood.

As stated above, this was a prototype that was created in January of 2001. I recently obtained it and was quite surprised by the expert attention that was given to this guitar (after all...it IS a prototype and was probably played quite often). The setup was spot on. All I did was tune it and jam! The top on this guitar is outstanding! The flamed maple is more like Tiger Stripes! (Thanks for the Tiger Stripe comparison Brave Dave!!) Simply stunning! It's a Cherryburst finish that was evenly applied and nicely balanced. The neck didn't disappoint either. What a fantastic feel. The ebony fretboard was silky and the frets were medium to large and were perfectly finished. It doesn't get better than this.

I own three other Deans and they all can withstand Live playing. This one may not get that much use mainly because I bought it to be played at home or on occasion, at small club or bar performances where it will not get dinged or spilled on. This is a keeper!

Dean customer service has to be the best in the industry! On occasion, you may even get to speak to the President (Elliot Rubinson) or correspond with either him or Dean himself via email. A true guitar company that cares about their patrons.

I've been playing for close to 20 years and have owned many guitars. Dean makes fabulous guitars that are reasonably priced. You won't find anything more finely crafted or adorned with quality appointments. Without a doubt this company is here to stay and has made it's mark on the guitar industry.
