This is a stacked coil humbucker that claims to deliver Tele tone with no hum.

I play a variety of styles: blues, rock and roll, hendrixy stuff, etc. This pickup went on my Squier 51, which I like, but the stock pickup is a little weak and hummy. The DP411 fits the bill for me. My amp(s) are a silverface Champ and for recording, a Behringer V-Amp2. In the Squier, it gets me sounds close to a Tele but tending towards the strat world too. Nice and versatile.

Not sure this applies. The only flaw is that there is no pickup cover. The marketing literature says that 'no metal cover is included' but they don't say that NO cover is included. The other Virtual Vintage pickups I have are on my Frankenstrat, and they ALL came with covers. What gives, DiMarzio?
Oh, and you can't get them separately either. I guess I was expecting a plastic cover with six holes for the pole pieces, like a strat or so.

All my other DiMarzios have stood the test of time, so I'm guessing this one will have a good longevity too. My rating here is just an educated guess....

Several emails with no response. Initially, they never responded to my questions about using a DP411 on a Squier 51. Then, when I finally took the plunge and got one, tried to find out about the 'no pickup cover' question. They have never responded to any of my emails.

I've been playing for...let's just say for a few years. If this pickup somehow disappeared, I'd probably get something from Seymour Duncan. I like the tone of the thing, but am extremely disappointed in the lack of help and support from the folks at DiMarzio.
