This is a 2006 (I think), made in Korea. Don't let that fool you. I know, almost every other guitar made in Korea is crap. But not Dillions. I can't say enough about this guitar. The finish is amazing. It's actually one of the most stunning accoustics I've seen. I've seen two different spellings on John's website for the type of wood used. One spelling is Doa (and it does look a bit like Koa), and the other is Dao (which I'm pretty sure is a philosophy, not a tree). Not sure which is correct, but it makes a great guitar. The only thing that I'll criticize in this category are the tuning pegs. They're generic, but that's not the problem. I own 2 other Dillions with generic pegs, and they're awesome. These have plastic heads on them, and they just look and feel cheap. Metal pegs would have been a better choice. However, they seem to work well. If I ever replace anything on this guitar, that will be it.

Sound : 10
The sound is amazing. To be honest, I'm an electic player who's new to the accoustic market. My wife actually WANTED me to buy an accoustic guitar, so I jumped at that (since my wife urging me to purchase another guitar will never happen again, ever). Since I already had 2 Dillion solid bodies, I knew what I wanted to try. Of all the Dillion accoustics, this one seemed like the best value. Sounds great unplugged, and really good plugged in (though I'm running it through a Marshall that isn't really suited for accoustics - once I find a nice accoustic amp, I'm sure it'll sound even better). Anyway, the controls are well-placed and easy to operate. The pickup works flawlessly with no feedback problems as of yet.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was the biggest surprise for me. As an electic player, I'm inherently a complete wuss when it comes to action. I thought I'd need to get this setup before it was even playable. Out of the box, the action was as good as any accoustic I've played. Though I've never owned expensive accousics, I've played them. I like this one better than any I've played. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. I'm still going to see if my local shop can tweak it even more, but there's no rush. Until then, I'm quite content.

The finish is amazing. It looks much better in person that on the website. It'll get a lot of looks on stage (especially from other guitarists).

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've had this guitar for exactly one day, so I can't say whether it'll stand the test of time. Accoustics are especially fragile, but, barring some drunken jam disaster, I expect this guitar to be around for a while.

Never play without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
I'm going to give John the benefit of the doubt on this one. I've spoken to so many people, and I've read so many reviews, that John seems like a great guy to deal with. He appears to be exceptionally hands-on, as any entrepreneur should be, and quick to respond to customers. Hopefully, I'll never need to find out... In any case, there's a 2-year warranty offered with every new guitar he sells.

I've been playing for several years, and I've always been a Fender guy. That is, someone who wanted quality gear but couldn't see the point of spending thousands of bucks on a Gibson. Now, I'm a Dillion guy. I'll probably hang onto a couple Fenders, but they're not getting the playing time they used to. They don't play as well or look as nice as my Dillions. On my Dillion solid bodies, the electronics and bridges were replaced (TonePros bridges, Duncan and DiMarzio pickups), and now they even sound better than my Fenders. This guitar has that same level of quality, looks, and sound I've come to expect from Dillion. If it were lost or stolen, I'd buy another. Hell, I'm thinking of buying another anyway just in case...

The sound is very clean mid-range, great high freq.
Plugged in sound awesome! no noise just clean acoustic tone.
For recording sound is unbeatable. Acoustic sound is fantastic, added a bit of effects, and sounded as good if not better than an ESP. You may not need any other guitar for recording!

The action wis quite low, may need adjust. But that's no problem

I love this guitar for it's playability and tone. I went to a well known guitar store and played some Taylor's and Martins. The Dillion wins hands down! If I did the curtain test (you know where you take 3 guitars behind a curtain and ask the crowd to pick out the Martin Taylor or Dillion,) I bet the the Dillion would be picked out as the Taylor or Martin. It sounds sweet, and off scale as far as clarirty and playabilty. Don't be fooled by names, Dillion is number 1!!!
