I purchased this beautiful 2006 guitar a few days ago. It is a fully bound acoustic/electric cutaway made of an exotic pearloid quilt top with mahogany sides and back. Pearl and abalone custom fret markers and Abalone binding around body and sound hole. It has chrome locking tuners and what appears to be a Rosewood neck. It has a four-band active EQ and lists for around $529.

Sound : 9
This guitar fits my rhythm/picking style which is a bluegrass/country/southern gospel flavor. I run this guitar straight thru to my Korg D8 mixer. It sounds excellent enough to record without any effects, but the effects only enhances it. The pickup is very quiet and active. The sound with the bass booster turned up on the EQ along with the presence control turned up gives this guitar a really nice warm bright sound. This guitar keeps perfect tune no matter which chord you are playing in. Also sounds great using a Kyser capo. Like most acoustic/electric guitars, the sound is not loud enough when unplugged. But usually people buy these guitars TO plug up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action on this guitar is low which makes playing it very easy. The action could be lowered just a hair for easy playing on the upper neck though. The finish is excellent. There are a few flaws in the wood grain that makes this guitar distinct, but that is with every guitar. There is no excess glue showing and does not have a scratch on it. Controls on the EQ fit well and are easy to adjust. The 9V battery goes in and out easy on the EQ as well. The finish on this guitar is awesome! The size of this guitar is a little shorter and smaller than my Epiphone acoustic guitar and the body not as thick. But I actually like this better than playing a bulky guitar. It fits better for me.

Reliability/Durability : 8
If taken good care of, this guitar will last a lifetime. I've had my Epiphone acoustic now for 12 years. The quality and craftmanship of this Dillion acoustic/electric guitar is made as good or better than my Epiphone. I would play this guitar anywhere live or record with it!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to use customer support since I just purchased this guitar.
The warranty on this guitar is two years as long as you send in your warranty registration card within 10 days from your purchase date.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing guitar for almost 30 years. I am a perfectionist when it comes to guitar sound and being in tune and about craftsmanship of the guitar I play. I record my own music so if I dont think it sounds good to me, then I feel it will not sound good to other listeners. I would purchase a Dillion guitar again in the future and I am very pleased so far with this one. I like everything about this guitar so far except I wish it were louder when unplugged and the action was a hair lower. But that's just my opinion!

If you've never heard of ELIXIR guitar strings, do yourself a favor and buy a set (light gauge). They are kind of expensive, but have the best sound of any strings I've ever used plus they last much longer and keep a great sound. I am going to put these strings on my Dillion guitar and it will sound incredible! Take care.
