Dillion DMG75 Mosrite Copy

Vintage white finish w/ black binding on body only and a bigsby type bridge. It's a guitar made in Korea. Has 1 tone and 1 volume knob which works very well with two hot P-90.

I usually play rock & roll, and my gear is a vintage all tube Giannini head (a copy of fender bassman) w/ 2x12 eminence g12. I use a russian big muff and a marshal shred master for hi-gain sound and a hand-made booster, for boost (lol).

This guitar works perfectly for my kind of music.

The action was high (the way i like) but a little weird for the low E. Maybe it was the temperature difference and the long travel that the guitar was submitted, not factory's fault.

Everything else is perfect.

This is perfect for those who raise the guitar and who rock on the stage. It's comfortable and seems to be a long-time-road guitar!

This guitar is a 2004 model and is brand new in ramone white witha black scratchplate.it as 2 p90 type pickups 1 volume and 1 tone pot with a 3 way selector switch.the body is made of mahogany and the neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard and 22 medium frets. The machine heads are similer to klusons and there is a bigsby syle trem system,and all the hardware is chrome. It came with a hard case a tweed strap,cable, cleaning cloth and some picks and tool kit
I live in England and could not find a Mosrite anywhere so this guitar was bought over the internet

The band i play with (Snatch22)play Punk/Classic rock covers and this guitar sounds great. I use a Zoom GFX5 multi FX unit into a Vox AC30 amp and the dmg75 sounds stunning to my ears. overdriven sound is good a little bit more rasping than my Gibson les paul Standard ,my Ideal sound. It also sounds Rich and full on clean settings and there is a great warm round sound on the neck pickup . i would think it would sound good for any syle of music.

This guitar was set up almost perfect for me and the pickups seem fine to me.Everthing seems to be ok on this guitar I could'nt find anything wrong in fact it's far better than i expected it to be for the price I paid

I recieved this guitar on a thursday and played 3 gigs over the following weekend and it felt like I had been using it for years.It is now my number 1 guitar I reckon i'll still be gigging with it in 20 years time. the dmg75 seems very tough and the hardware is built to last. this is a axe that you can depend on and I would use on a gig with out any backup

I have been playing on and off for about 25 years. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Standard (1989) which I bought new in 1990 and a Fender Srat plus deluxe (1989) bought a few months later. I also own a Firebird Copy and SG copy (Epiphone)and a Yamaha Electoacoustic.
If it were Stolen or lost I would try and get another one straight away

Made in Vietnam I believe. Right away that made me leary, but the guitar looked so cool that I figured that it was worth a try. 2 fairly hot P-90's, whammy bar, cool Mosrite body shape, great color (dark blue, which was a one-off), medium size neck (nice feel), hardware seems good, stays in tune, overall very good quality for the money.

I'm a 30+ year player that has owned and played them all. This guitar has been a pleasant surprise. The P-90's are nice and fat sounding with good punch and tone. This axe really screams when you start driving your amp. Sweet clean tone also. Well all right!!

Nicely shaped neck. The nut was cut a little too low for the lowest strings (i.e., it had a buzz that couldn't be adjusted out, so I had to replace it). Fortunately I bought the guitar from MusiciansMate over the Internet who refunded part of the purchase price to cover the nut repair cost - talk about nice guys!! The frets were also a bit sharp along the edges so I had my repair tech sand and shape them while it was in for the nut repair - problem solved. These were simple and inexpensive adjustments, and now I have a wonderful playing guitar.

Haven't had it very long, but it seems to be solidly built.

This is a fun and well-made guitar. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a Mosrite style axe that doesn't want to spend big bucks for the real deal. To put things in perspective, I own several very desirable guitars, and I now reach first for my Dillion - it has won me over!!

Brand New guitar. Solid maple body. Canadian Maple neck. Rosewood fretboard. 2 adjustable P-90's. Stop tail piece, no bigsby on the one that I bought.

This guitar sounds incredible. The P-90's have ton's of full rich tone. Just like you would expect from any high quality P-90's. What can I say.. I give the sound a 10. I've played it through, Fender Blackface tube amps, Marshall stacks, and Mesa Boogie combo's. All sounded incredible. I'm a rocker, but also play alot of blues and even jazz some times. It doesn't necessarily sound exactly like an original Mosrite, but it's still nice.

Here's where you notice the difference. I've always wanted a Mosrite Ventures guitar, but the price tag is way out of my reach. I bought this guitar for $300 U.S. It is a working man's guitar. This baby comes on the road with me. The wood is the best quality. The finish is just as nice as a brand new U.S. Fender. I'm anal about my guitars.. the action was a little too high for me originally, the tone and volume pots were on the cheap side (switch was so/so) and the pickups could have used a little shielding. All that said.. I brought it to my local luthier.. had it set up with 11's, replaced the pots, switch, and shielded the pickups for $110.00.

This is a very durable guitar. I've played and owned all kinds of mosrite copies. This is by far the best playing and sounding one made. Univox's are junk. I'm sorry to say. I'm a huge Cobain fan, but the guy clearly never played a Dillion. He would have thrown away the Univox for good. People advertise the Univox's for $500 now. I own one.. good tone, but have you ever seen the area where the body meets the neck? If it hasn't cracked on you.. it will. This guitar sounds just as good if not better and it's built to last. Cheaper too! and it's brand new with warranty. Definitely a professional guitar.

Awesome. John Dillion responds to your email's himself. How can you beat that? I've never had any problems where I've felt that i've needed to go through Dillion, but they are very responsive to my general spec. questions. They answer emails fast.

I paid $300.00 for it new, put $110.00 into it to make it perfect for me.

It's a $410 Korean guitar that play's like a $1,000+ American guitar.

not sure when this mosrite copy was made but it was recently. probably a japanese guitar, with 22 frets, 1 volume, 1 tone, a 3-way toggle switch, and "vintage" p-90s. the neck is made of maple, but i'm not sure what the body wood type is. it's a 3-tone sunburst finish
with a bigsby-like tremelo. the non-locking machine heads aren't too great. the scale is (i believe) 24.75 inches and it came with a gig bag and strings.

i use this guitar with a marshall vs265r. the amp and guitar don't really match on sound, since the marshall has a very metally sound and the guitar plays really well with a clean reverb surf sound or a dirty garage rock sound. it's very noisy when not playing; the pickups hum quite a bit. the sound is not the fullest but not brittle, and i like how the guitar can have a thin sound with the bridge pickup or a fuller, thicker sound with the bridge. when both pickups are on, however, it gets kind of muddy when playing chords. i play blues, garage rock, and sound more experimental stuff and this guitar handles them pretty ok.

the guitar set up was good, with nice action. the pickups are tough to adjust and a pain in the ass. everything else is thoroughly good.

the guitar is realiable and durable. i've played it live without a backup and taken it a lot of places and it's still in nice shape. the hardware is lasting nad the finish has barely a scratch (a testament to a good finish because i destroy paint jobs on guitars).

i have been playing 6 years and i play drums, bass and piano. i love this guitar because it's a thick, heavy guitar with a cool look. i love the vibrato. if it were stolen i may buy a new one, but i'd probably just get another guitar.

this guitar is perfect for blues/surf/rock/punk/grateful dead. iow, everything!!! i'm playoing it thru a peavey classic 30 amp with no effects (effects are stupid, that's why there are knobs on the guitar). it can give you a wide array of sounds (the knobs actually work right, with a big range) growls to twang, sweet to angry.

the only "flaws" i have seen are the neck binding (from nut to 1st fret, it sticks out a tad bit on the low e side) and the bigsby. yes, they were replicating a mosrite ventures, but, i think they could have improved this type of trem arm over the years, but then again...this really isn't dillion's fault.

the guitar easily could withstand live playing. it feels tough!!!! i might replace the tuners and the bigsby at some point, but that would be it. the finish (red metallic glitter) will last and last. i could depend on this guitar. i would want a backup at a gig, however. due to the bigsby thing, it experiences tuning problems. but....now that i have "broken it in," it is staying in tune much better.

i have been playing for about 25 year. i ve ownd or played about everything, and i'd rate this up there with the best of them. the neck reminds me of my 67 gibson melody maker's neck (the fastest neck i ever owed). i love the neck. i don't use effects anymore (big danny gatton fan here). this utar has plenty-o-sounds. i would replace this guitar if something bad happened to it. love the sound and neck. hate nothing (dislike the bigsby somewhat). i traded for it, but it retails around $500. i don't give a crap that it is from korea. the quality and sound of this guitar would place it with guitars costing thousands of $$$ more. don't pay for a name dillion guitars are what you want. the best copies in the world. i've read reviews placing thier prs, lp and tele models higher than the real things too. this mosrite copy is way better than the real ones (were they even made of wood?) and light years better than the univox mosrite copies. GET A DILLION FOR YOUR NEXT UITAR

everyones already gone through the features. so here we go. i gave this a five because i hate when people give this kind of guitar a 10 for features guitars that would get a ten in features would be jaguars, mustangs or gibson sonexs.

this guitar sounds good, BUT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A MOSRITE!!, It sounds more like your average solid body electric, it does have great sustain and is very bright. i also would recommend shielding it.i own a mosrite and a hi-flyer, which i prefer over the dillion. the first time i toured with it i brought it along with my mosrite, epiphone dot and gibson sonex, which ran through a 50 watt marshall on ten most nights-big muff distortion, vox wah and tremolo. after the tour i sold it immediately. not because its a bad guitar, but because it is nothing like a mosrite. the people here comparing the two speak of mosrite as great guitars but they arent, real mosrite dont have great pickups they dont sustain very well, they dont stay in tune, they just have a very unique sound. the univox copys are more true to the originals.

mine was set up pretty well, except the frets were a little rough and cut the hell out of hands at the first show i played with it.

even though it doesnt sound or feel like a mosrite, i would rely on it more than i would rely on a mosrite.

didnt have it long enough to deal with them.

Got this used, but the pickguard and pickups still had the protective plastic on them. Tone & volume ctrls; 2 P-90 type pickups; bigsby. Basswood body, maple neck, rosewood board, metallic red finish, traditional Mosrite body style, Kluson "type" machines, adjustable saddle bridge. Neck is wide and mediumn flat -- quite comfortable. Frets are prob not as small as real Mosrites. Had to buy a separate bass size case.

Rock and roll to country to punk.
Run into a tube overdriver and an Ampeg V-2 head into a 4x10 bottom.
Nice and Stones-y tone. Nice, warm mids -rich & full, ok.

Action is fairly low -- I put 12"s on it and had it set up shortly after I bought it. I will need to put the larger Bigsby spring in it at some point. Comfortable to play, but weight is in the same ballpark as Ampeg/Dan Armstrong.

Have been playing this in practice for a few months and first gig out of the barn was last Friday. Everything about it was solid. Nice tone. Cool appearance. Had my lonely Ampeg/DA along as backup.

Purchased used.

12 plus years; Epiphone Batwings, Ampeg/DA, Teles, Gretsch. If it were lost/stolen I'd def keep my eyes open. I bought it b/c I always wanted a Mostrite like Fred Sonic SmMith of the MC5, but never see them for sale in my budget range. It holds up to the rest.

I bought this one around Christmas 2000 from Song Bird in Toronto in an Ebay Dutch Auction for about $350.00. It looks quite like a Mosrite Ventures Model out of the box. I wasn't satisfied with that though, so I bought a bunch of Mosrite parts off Ebay and took it to the limit. The guitar weighs a ton. I put a Japanese Mosley whammy bar on it and put the Bigsby style tremolo on my Epiphone Les Paul. I left the orignial bridge on it. To to this I had to drill new lower holes in the Mosley to make the strings tight on the bridge. The tremolo had to be mounted directly behind the bridge as the Dillion bridge doen't fit the Japanese tremolo. I think an American Mosrite bridge and whammy might have fit right on, but I don't have one, so I don't know. I put in real vintage American made Mosrite pickups on it. This required expanding the pickup routes a little. The tuners were Klusson style out of the box, but I bought some reissued Klusson Deluxe tuners with slotted heads anyway. I bought a couple of M logo knobs ,a Ventures Model decal, and a chrome switch tip. It looks pretty much like a Japanese Mosrite now. The differences are that it uses neck ferrules instead of a neck mounting plate and it doesn't have a zero fret. The bridge is not a roller bridge. It is more like a Tune-O-Matic. The candy apple red metal flake finish is amazing. The neck is two piece, which I don't like, maple. It plays really good but I wish Dillion had made a one piece neck with a zero fret. I bought a reissue Mosrite case, which was a bit overpriced. All in all I could have bought a reissue Mosrite for what I put in this and it would have been closer to the original. However, this does have real vintage pickups on it. I sold the P-90 style pickups.

It is the ultimate surf guitar.

The guitar was flawless out of the box. For the price, you couldn't beat it.

I've been playing about 38 years. I have 25 guitars. If it was stolen, I'd probably buy a Mosrite reissue instead.

Korean made.Excellently made. For $375 U.S i'ts a fantastic buy.
Just check out any site listing them and take a look at their pictures. Nothing special here,all the parts seem to be of good quality (Crappy Bigsby whammy bar though !!!).
Got to find a hard case or modify a hard case to fit it.

The sound can be set up for whatever you require considering most players adjust their sound on an effects/amp level anyway. If you think there are big differences in quality solid body guitars depending on what wood, etc they are made of then you've got rocks in your head. How the neck mates to the body is a bigger consideration and on this guitar it's fine.But you can do yourself a favor and shield the electrics(no big deal)

Action was set OK from the maker.You have to really put quite few hours of playing time into a guitar and let the neck settle before fine tuning it and resetting the action.Talk to any guitar repairer he'll tell you the same goes for most guitars.You can set the pickups to where ever you like (and you should).Finnish is perfect, as good as any Fender or Gibson i've seen.
The only problem is the crap Bigsby style whammy bar,How can they still make these,they have NEVER been any good at all, pure lame-ass crap. I dis-abled mine and I will be putting a Gibson style stop tail piece on it.These whammy bars do not lock and never return to their original setting.I think Dillion should put a stop tail piece on instead.I'll rate 6 here because of this.

Well this guitar is fantastic value.Just try and get a REAL Mosrite that was made by Semmie, big bucks.If you get a Jap Mosrte copy(they bought the name,not the company!!) it's still just a copy and not a real mosrite,so why spend all that money?.If you bought a Univox Hi-Flyer for over $100 just because Kurt Cobain used one(I'm sick of people quoteing that on E-Bay!!)a few times(as well as every other brand)then you an idiot.Hi-Flyers were cheap crap jap copies of average standards(has the body on yours cracked yet???)Why spend $200 plus on some old piece of crap when you can get a guitar that plays,looks,sounds and is %100 better???Those GuitarPunk one's aren't worth the money either.

If you always wanted a Mosrite style guitar and could never find or afford one then do yourself a favor and get one of these guitars!!!!!
