Not sure of the year, but probably about 2002. Made in Korea. 24 frets. PRS clone with pretty but subdued quilted top. Volume and tone control with selector knob. 2 open-face humbuckers. Has a mahogany body and neck. Kluson style tuners. Only flaws I see are a little (microscopic) finish flaws. Other than that the knobs were a little cheap. An easy $10 fix. I also replaced the selection knob with a 3 way toggle switch, an $8 upgrade. I don't know why you'd want t knob, you can't immediately see what the setting is. (maybe that's just me...)

Nice for classic rock and blues. I took out the stock pick-up and replaced with some hand-wound Heritage Rendall Wall humbuckers that I had taken out of my CM-150 (Les Paul). The stock pick-ups were really good, but it seemed a shame to have those great HRW pick-ups sitting in a box. I can't give it a 10 because it could be improved with better pick-ups.

I'd heard great things about this guitar and frankly, I'm happily surprised to find they were all true. The fret dressing was great. Body is compact light and beautifully finished. The snake inlay on the fretboard is really eyecatching. As good as a PRS? No!..but for $5000 lesss, it suits me just fine.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've not played it live yet, but I'm going to very soon. I have really, really nice and expensive guitars that I'm a little iffy about bringing to open mic nights, so this will be the axe I'll take. It looks as good as any guitar I own and it plays like a guitar that cost 5 times as much. For bigger gigs I would bring this guitar as a back-up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't have to use it. I have a local tech that does great work, but I've heard good things about John Dillion.

I've been playing all might adult life but finally started a band at age 40. Play mostly blues/rock. This guitar is really very nice. I've made a few minor upgrades and still it's less than $400! I'm a proud American, but damn, you gotta love the quality coming out of Korea. I've got a G&L Tribute that is incredible too. I won't play something that sounds (or looks) cheap, and this guitar is jsut plain great sounding and playing. i've got some nice Heritage guitars that are superior in construction, but I'm finding that this Dillion is really becoming a "go-to" guitar.

The guitar sounds great. This is the best guitar I own to date and I have a gibson les paul, jackson, rickenbacher, ESP 7 String, and an Ibanez. The only thing that may need to be replaced are the pickups, that is only if you don't like the prs sound that these pickups were designed to sound like

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar has incredible action and is finished just as well as any guitar on the market. This is definitly a bargain for the price.

So far I've had this guitar for four years and it is incredible. Never had a problem yet.

This is a 24-fret Japanase PRS-style guitar with an amazing blue flame top finish (photo or verneer). In addition to the asthetic body, this model has the inlaid serpent that spans the entire length of the neck. While difficult to find the notes without fretboard markers at first, there are easy-to-read fret markers on the side of the neck. The guitar is equipped with a tone, volume and 3-way pickup knob. The pickups are both humbuckers, and meaty. The bridge is very similar to the Nashville style, fixed and easy to adjust. I think my favorite feature is the chrome tuners; heavy and easy to grab. They are non-locking, 3 to a side, and similar to a Grover style but your fingers just fall into them. This guitar is a looker.

I'm a blues player who is tired of the strat sound. I do own the obligatory strat, tele, and I play a 335. I play through a Johnson Millenium amplifier, so the sounds I have access to are unlimited. The Dillion is now the first guitar I pick up at a gig and the last one I put down. It gives you that rough Les Paul sound, fat and nasty. And the pickups are HOT! It gives me almost 50% more volume than the strat or tele and almost as much as the 335. The tone knob also seems to have a larger sweep range than my other guitars. You can get it really muddy, and it holds its own on the brighter side as well.

I don't know how the guitar came from the factory- the music shop I bought it from typically sets up all the guitars before they go out on the floor. The pickups were sitting a little high, but again that was probably from the shop. The second fret was a little loose in the seam, but easily fixed. The flame top was matched pretty well, everything else seemed to be solid.

I have gigged with the Dillion for about 2 months now and have made no adjustments. There are still no scratches in the finish, and it plays as fast as it did the day I bought it. The only thing I fear that won't hold up is the pickup knob. If you keep turning it back and forth, it will eventually loosen itself. I'm going to replace it with a toggle switch anyway.

I have spoken with John Dillion a couple of times. Enough said.

This guitar rocks. It looks good, sounds good, and feels good. When you hold it, you know it there to play as much as you are. It is definitely the most widely used instrument in my stable, and I recommend at least giving it a look.
