Heritage cherry-type finish, very similar to the gibson (which is why Dillion stopped making this one), except that it kind of looks better! It's a bit wider in the body, which gives it a stouter appearance. Same setup as the gibson, with the extra selector switch like on the epiphones. Tuners are of the cheap and "need to be replaced" kind. Pickups sound good. Real mahagony species wood, not plywood like the epiphones.

If you want a gibson doubleneck for much less, this is the one to get. Pretty good right out of the box. I play mine through a Soldano Decatone atop a Marshall 1960 a/b stack. My TOWER of POWER. I also use a valvulator buffer and powerfactor pro, both of which make you sound better than everyone else. Clarity, purity, perfection. This guitar needed some work to meet the gigging semi-pro specs, but to me, a guitar is just a piece of wood that could need a setup, frets, pickups, tuners, hardware, you-name-it. The only things I dislike about this guitar are the usual 1275guitar gripes. Neck-heavy, though less than gibson, and the 20frets, lack of upper access, etc. Not that heavy with a wide strap. Sounds almost as good as the real deal (unlike epiphone plywood guitars), and I would bet that if you put burstbuckers or the like in it, it could sound AS GOOD. Sounds really good as is. I use this live a lot.

Factory setup was playable, but needed some work. I went to a really good- and EXPENSIVE- luthier to get both necks set up properly, $350. The nut slots had burrs and needed reshaping, the frets needed levelling and polishing, the action was off, the intonation, the truss rods. My luthier hates me for bringing him this guitar. He did a good job, though, and it plays very well. I adjusted the pickups slightly.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Live, this guitar is great. It is visually stunning, even better than the gibsons. I put straplocks on it, so it is very solid onstage. I could play a whole gig with this, but normally use it for half a set at a time. Tough to get the really high notes. One key change that has to be made on this guitar is the tuners. The tuners it came with were garbage. I replaced them with Stewmac gotoh keystones (about $100 bucks), which fit the existing holes exactly. Just had to drill the existing tiny retainer screw holes a bit deeper. Since the tuner upgrade, it has become a very reliable stage instrument. The 12 neck is good for a full set without major tuning issues, and I bend a lot of notes on it.

I got this from ebay, from a dealer that is a direct affiliate w/dillion, I think. They were very good to deal with- nice people. There were a few tiny hairline cracks in the finish, but I have had zero issues with the guitar structurally. Pretty good product for the money. I got it for $799, then put $450 into it.

Overall Rating : 10
Been gigging and rocking for nearly 20 years now. I own some les paul copies, schecter, Dean(the best), and ovation guitars. I wish I could find a hardshell case to fit this axe. It came with a gigbag. It is wider than the gibson. I will find something eventually. I got a Dean Doubleneck hardtail, but I can't bring myself to get rid of this Dillion. It's too pretty, and it does play really nice. I love the way it sounds. It blows the plywood epiphones away. I had one of those. Garbage. If you can find one of these with the 1275 fixed/bolted-down tailpieces and 1275 style replica body for less than 900 bucks, it's a good buy. They have been on ebay for much less, actually. Don't know why, cuz the epiphones suck. These guitars are a steal, if you know how to set them up right.
