2007 model purchased new by me. What a fantastic guitar. Finish is a deep rich cool blue with a humbucker for the bridge and P-90 for the neck. Neck is the perfect size, not too fat or skinny. Always get comments on both the tone and appearance every time I play it.

This is where this guitar excels. Bridge pickup gets a nice growl in humbucking mode and a warm clean clear tone in the neck. Another nice feature is there is not a volume drop when switching from bridge to neck which was a concern for me. Guitar stays in tune and can even handle a bit of shake on the trem system. Playing through a custom shop low power tweed twin reissue nails the Tom Petty tone. A unique sound that is instantly recognizable. This is my main axe now.

Absolutely perfect. I dig the sparkle paint and the stripe down the middle but since the only difference between this and the other models is the paint job there are plenty of colors to choose from. However since the super bowl this guitar is instantly recognizable.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Feels solid. Have been paying live with it for several months and no issues.

Sent an email with a question concerning availability and got an answer the next day (trying to find a dealer that had one in stock). Told me where the last 5 had been shipped to but was only able to locate two because the others had already been sold.

I have a couple of custom shop les pauls and an es335. Thinking of selling the 335 and getting another MC. It is a much more usable guitar tone wise and more comfortable to play. Playing through a matchless dc 30 a tweed twin and a 65 amps london with a keeley modified tube screamer and java boost. Sounds wicked through any of my amps.

OK I read the other reviews concerning pick up sounds and finish questions. The Mike Campbell I received was made in 2007 and the finish is impeccable. Not a flaw to be found anywhere. The blue metal flake shines under the stage lights and it is simply a joy to play. The neck size is perfect, somewhere between a 59 Les Paul and a 60s. The blue shelby stripe down the middle is cool and really helps bring out the overall presence of the guitar. Plays great, well balanced but what does that matter if it does not sound good.

If you are looking for a PAF ES 335 get one. However if you are looking for the tone of the last few Tom petty albums this is it. The body is made of spruce top and maple body which should be a clue that this guitar is going to sound different, which in this case different is good. The pups are not as strong as a set of PAFs but just crank up the amp a bit and the sound comes roaring through. Wonderful full biting through the mix fat sound. The best part about this guitar is you have a chance to hear it before you buy it. Mike Campbell's tone is through a minimal pedal board into a blackface princeton so if that is a tone you can go for then decision made. No big volume drop with the P-90 which rings nice and clear and contributes to a great middle position tone combination.

Perfect.

The American distributor Nathan's phone number is on the website and he answered the phone the first time I called. Pleasant fellow who answered all of my questions.

Own a ton of gear, all custom shop guitars and point to point amps. This ranks up there with the best of them. Saving up to buy a spare.
