Duesenberg Starplayer TV. Sparkle Silver top, transblack back and sides, stepped art-deco tuners, duesenbigsby, semi-hollow corrinna body. Les Paul-ish in shape, but slightly larger. These guitars have incredibly detailed features, and solid, better than Gibson(although that's not saying much)construction and quality control. Despite what you may have heard, it sounds nothing like a gretsch or gibson. Quality Art-deco vibe. This is the best looking guitar I have, and I own three James Trussarts.

I play rock. I dislike the p-90 neck pup and tolerate the bridge pup. For some strange reason, it sounds pretty good in the middle pickup selection position. I have palyed it through four different good tube amps. The pickups are the Achille's heel of this guitar. On my Ampeg J12, I must crank the tone to 8 to get any treble response at all. The bridge pup is better, but hollow and tinny.

SWEET NECK. This guitar has GREAT action on the XL 25.5 in. scale neck. Bookmatched back is without flaw. Binding was put on well. I believe the quality control of this company is one whose example should be followed by others (Fender, Gibson and the usuals. The selection switch is MUCH smoother than any guitar I have ever owned, and I have owned about thirty or forty. Ditto for tone and volume knobs. I have purchased the guitar used, so I don't know how it came in from the factory. It has been altered in no way and is in FLAWLESS functional condition.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is an absolute tank. I wouldn't gig it but if I did I wouldn't need a backup. The hardware is , once again, EXCEPTIONAL.

Customer Support : No Opinion
THese guys are in Germany, so it is difficult to get in touch with them. I am guessing they have more orders than they can fill, with the demand for these guitars going up.

Overall Rating : 9
I love everything about this guitar except for the crappy pickups. Dieter- please put better pups in these instruments. They are otherwise of higher quality control than anything made in the US. If I had it stolen, I would go whatever length to get another. I think I will put Duncan Custom or Antiquity pups and it will be great. The other guitars I have are the Trussart's and another Duesnberg Starplayer Special.

Starplayer TV Semi Made Feb 2003. Trans Orange finish. Single coil P90 in neck, PAF type humbucker in bridge. Bigsby type tremolo - with locking position to put the arm out of the way if you're not using it. This guitar looks cool - very original. The trans orange finish is very Gretsch which is the main reason I picked it up in the first place.

Play 60's & 70's rock covers. Use with Vox AC15 live, POD XT at home. Both pickups sound excellent. I have fallen in love with the sound of this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Best initial set up of any guitar I have bought. I've got a Gibson Les Paul, Fender Custom Shop Strat & Gretsch Anniversary all of them cost more than this guitar and none of them were set up this well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Built like a tank.

not yet.

I've been playing 20 years and this is one of the best looking and best sounding guitars I've owned. I'd definitely get another one if it was stolen. I wish gibson and fender spent as much time setting up their guitars before they leave the factory.

Phantastic Art-Deco-Style Guitar with 22 frets, traditional set in neck, corinna body with sound chambers, arched spruce top (multi-layer), arched flamed maple back (multi-layer), binding on headstock, fingerboard, body top & back, F-hole & neck heel, Bigsby Style Vibrato, 3-step kidney-shape tuner buttons, P-90 construction single coil pickup (neck position), vintage humbucker (bridge position), special Duesenberg twang sound in middle position of 3-way switch.

Sound : 10
I play good old Rocksongs of the 60th and 70th, most with a blues touch. My amp is a Framus Red Rogue all tube conbo. It sounds absolutly great. You can get Vintage P.A.F. Sounds with the Humbucker and twangy and superbe clean Sound with the single coil PU or with both in combination.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought my Guitar used and it was in a very good condition, easy playable perfect adjusted. It looks absolutly cool with it's Art Deco style. The finish is perfect and the materials (woods, fretboard, PUs, hardware) look like it is build for infinity.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As i wrote above the finish is absolutly perfect. It is a very good live guitar and a variable studio axe. I think that you do not need any backup guitar if you use the Starplayer.

Customer Support : 10
I bought the guitar used and wanted to know several details about the instrument. I wrote a E-Mail to Duesenberg and got an answer soon, with all my questions very friendly answerd. I never had any problems but i think that there will no problem if it must be repaired. But i think that will never be necessary.

Overall Rating : 10
It is just a dream-guitar and the price is phantastic. You can't get a cheaper guitar with the features and finish anywhere.
