dunno where it's made. could say, eastern production? dunno, really.
tune o matic bridge, HH pickups, 22 frets, 2 volumes, 2 tones, 3 way selector, non locking no brand tuners which work just fine, dunno about the woods... it sounds good tho.

comes without a gigbag tho... well nothing's perfect!

first and foremost, this is actually my 5th guitar.

i play some kind of rock with noise influences. QOTSA, SONIC YOUTH, something else. i used to play thrash death metal.

i currently own a GIBSON SG SPECIAL (2002), a ESP LTD VIPER (2003), a EPIPHONE SG SPECIAL (2005) and a JACKSON RR10 (200). i also owned a variety of others in the past (including an IBANEZ RG270, a YAMAHA EG112, a SCHECTER 006, and an IBANEZ gr10 with a doublecut shape).

the SG shape is really the very only playable shape to me along with the Jackson Randy, but i don't really find it useful anymore.

i decided to make up my own review for this guitar becuz of the comments i spotted down here.

i had to search it around the net but eventually i found a good price for this one, and i just played it the whole day. it's not noisy at all, pots and electronics are wonderfully set up and the whole thing feels like a pro guitar, in my humble opinion. while you have to bear in mind that this is really an economic one, you can trust me when i tell you it has a wicked sound and is also very playable.

for the money you'll spend on this - you won't get nothing better.

the EPI SG i bought last year had pretty much the same price range but has quite a few problems with the switch selector for example.

also you get splittable pick ups with this one - a rather cool plus.

the axe was definitely set up properly. i has niners on, so i'm switching to tens as soon as these strings get worn out.

pickups appear to be set very well.

also the frets are wonderfully finished. nothing to complain about it at all, prolly the best factory set-up since the GIBSON SG (which had to be adjusted anyway, and of course this EKO too will see the hands of the luthier sooner or later).

the colour and the finish are just good, real good. i love how the wood shows up it's face thru the transparent crimson...

Reliability/Durability : 9
i'll use this one as a backup for the SG, in standard tuning.
everything seems rather dependable. i'll see what happens.

never heard from these guys. dunno what's wrong with the EKO site. kinda weird.

i've been playing since 1999 and as said, i've owned a variety of guitars. i like this one, if stolen i'd kick the bastard's ass badly cuz i'm in love with the colour and the shape of it. i wish it came with a gig bag included but hell - can't get anything for free.

great guitar for a ridiculous price. think about it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2

This is a recent(2002) transparent wine red SG copy from Italy. The body is 3 piece solid Ash . It's got 2 open coil humbucking pickups with a volume and a tone pot for each. Pickups have Samshin written on the back of them. Neck is thin Maple with a Rosewood finger board with 22 medium sized frets but feels very solid and stays put. The headstock is similar to Gibson except it doesn't have the open book design, it's more rounded.

This guitar really impressed me out of the box for te money it cost me. It's hard to get a nice guitar these days for $150.00 USD. I use a 69 Fender Bandmaster Reverb and a Traynor Bass Master and tested the guitar without effects to get a feeling how it sounded. The verdict was not good. The pickups were very loud, cold and pushed my tube amps in to a Tony Iommi distortion at moderate levels. It was clear to me that I was getting some mighty cheap pickups. I didn't feel inspired to play the guitar at all so it sat in the box for a month. I ended up replacing the humbuckers with some alnico 5 toaster top humbucker replacements that I got from Custom Shop on Ebay that look like they were made for a Gretch. Suddenly the guitar came alive !!!!!! I just love the guitar now, it sounds sweet and warm and gives me those nice Robbie Krieger tones from The Doors when played through the Fender. If I use my Marshall Blues Breaker pedal, and my Bass Master I can get the orgasmic early Cream vibe. The tuners will have to be changed but it can wait. Just remember, a cheap guitar + cheap hardware.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Guitar was poorly set-up. I had to adjust the neck and lower the action. The guitar had some ninor finishing flaws but not as bad as some other makes of guitars I've seen. The nut is also not the best, it is not well cut and will be replaced.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Other than all of the negative things I've said, it's a solid guitar and should stand years of use with no problems. I'd gig with it but who doesn't gig without a back up ?

I've been playing on and off for 20 years, I have custom stratoids and Teleoids. I really like this guitar now that I customized it but felt absolutely no connection with the instrument before I swapped the pickups. All in all, a good deal for the money.
