made in ricanti in italy around 1976 and is a full size dreadnought 6 string which is the same dimensions as a ranger 6 ,specs are a solid spruce sound board which is now a gorgeous honey colour back and sides are brazilian rosewood which is awesome to look at with spruce piping which compliments the darker wood .The neck is ebony with mother of pearl inlays in twin rows like a gibson hummingbird ..in fact the whole effect is hummingbird so may have been what eko were thinking of when it was made .Quality gold tuners , big old moustache bridge which cool and bone saddle .Thick tortoiseshell pickguard which i would dearly love take off but dont want to ruin the guitar, cant help the soundboard surely but adds to the beauty of this guitar.

This isnt the loudest of guitars even though its big but then again im a fingerstyle player and its never seen a pick so i guess a strummer with heavy pick could get her booming .I love the sound of this guitar ,its simply so mellow that you feel yourself sinking in the chair to its sound ,it mikes up brilliantly for recording , i have an artec soundhole pick up which is single coil like a fishman and this is definately the way to go on this guitar it absolutely brings out the guitars soul so well and with this style you can add effects too which is good .
Action, Fit, & Finish

I have had this guitar along time and when i got it the action was perfect for me but the fret ends were a little rough , maybe the ebony had shrunk a little where it was stored before i bought it ,a morning with a luthier and ??20 later this was not an issue anymore so not a big thing really .The build is really something else ,it simply was built to last a lifetime if not several and the matching of woods is as tight as it was when made .

Its an eko .. there are some big name guitar manufacturers who should take a leaf out of eko's book ,nothing shifts ,nothing breaks ,the woods were stockpiled for years before eko made a guitar hence the guitar will stand the test of time even without due care ! .If i were knocked down by a bus carrying this i'd be fine if i could get underneath it quick enough ..the bus would be worse off i reckon .

I have a tanglewood tw45dlx which is amazingly versatile and its my main guitar but it doesnt have the mojo the eko has ..or the overall mellow sound for folk stuff / fingerstyle playing .Own ranger 6 , 00015 ,70's artwood ibanez which is a martin d18 knockoff but actually better ! . Been playin on and off for 20+ years and have had 40 guitars over that period ,many come and go but only due to being average ,had tried taylors , martins ,etc .The el dorado is eko's finest made acoustic and ive never seen another one ever ! .. i guess people like me who were fortunate to acquire one have theirs locked up of an evening too ..cant blame em .Now and again when you pick the guitar up you still get the fresh scent of roses from the inside ,the rosewood is what makes this guitar special. Wont lose it as it stays home now and if it were stolen i'd need councelling for sure .
