Sound : 6
There is a huge range of sounds that this guitar can create. Great for blues, jazz and rock.

I have used this guitar with a number of setups: Hughes & Kettner Trilogy with stomp boxes and ISP Decimator noise suppressor. Laney GH50L and a Mesa F-50.

This guitar is relatively bright sounding. The Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup is uncontrolabley noisey, even at medium levels of gain. The feedback it creates is high frequency and quite painful to hear. The feedback happens far to easily, even at home practicing volumes. I have had plenty of experience with equipment setups and noise reduction units. This is unexceptable for a rock/metal guitarist that uses mid to high levels of gain frequently.

I found the Seymour Duncan '59 neck pickup was great for clean tones and slightly driven tones, but wasn't too articulate when trying to fatten up leads.

I thought the pickup selection of this guitar was where it fell short. I don't know if these model pickups were tested and chosen by Brett Garsed to be installed into his signature series, or if they were just the "default" Seymour Duncan models that ESP put in, as Brett uses DiMarzio pickups and are not available in ESP guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This guitar played like a dream when I picked it up. Low action, right pickup height strung properly with 10-46s.

A very well-matched quilted maple top.

Everything regarding setup, workmenship, hardware and woods were flawless, with 1 very small exception. When I took off the pickup surrounds, I found that 1 of the screw holes (for the pickup surround screws) was threaded. The screw still was sitting in, but the screw would keep spinning.

I may be splitting hairs, but I am a bit of a perfectionist.

Reliability/Durability : 10
With the Garsed (and all ESPs i have played) these are guitars made for performers. Easy to setup, can handle a beating, and made with all of the hardware and refinements to make a Durable/Reliable guitar.

A nice touch Brett has added to his signature guitar, is the Schaller straplocks.

If ever you played a gig without a spare guitar, this would be the guitar you'd want.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing for 10+ years, have owned 75+ guitars, 35+ amps.

This guitar (like all ESP Horizon models) has awesome upper fret access and thin/fast neck profile, while retaining great tone.

Wish it had Garsed's DiMarzio pickups, or at least the same Seymours as the other horizons.
