im not really sure what year this guitar was made in.... but the specs are pretty much the same as the specs below...except mine has 24 frets...

Mahogany body with rosewood fingerboard
1 volume 1 tone 1 pickup selector
EMG 81 set
Tune o matic
the tuners look like grovers?? not really sure...
bolt on construction...

its definately a japanese model...thats for sure....got it together with a hardcase

well...surprisingly...the clean tome is really warm...considering that this is a metal guitar...the clean tone is awesome...im basically a metal (pantera, machine head ) but im also heavily influenced by old school rock(black sabbath) as well as blues(eric clapton)...so this guitar is like a all in one package for me... the distortion sound is awesome... and it has a real full sound to it...so i can go from my metal type riffs to my jazz cum bluesy clean fills....one word AWESOME!! (the pinch harmonics sound real good as well..)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
well... i played this guitar alongside a custom shop viper...and the explorer was set up pretty well...except for a slight buzz on the D string...after changing the string gauge it was alright....im using 10s...Pickups rattle a bit....but i fixed that myself...so its all good...finish was real good with the black hardware and all and the immediate thing you notice is how light this guitar is...its kinda small too so its a real comfort to play this thing live onstage...i also have a Dime shaped Kramer...and that is one heavy MOFO...but its all good all the same...

Reliability/Durability : 8
only used it live once...and the sound blew me away...i put in schaller starp locks so itll never slip away...and it looks like ill be using this guitar for a real LLLOOONNGG time...

Customer Support : No Opinion

Its a 2000 model with 22 Jumbo frets and bolt on construction. It has a gain and 2 volume buttons and of course two EMG-81s humbuckers. Body is Mahagony neck is Maple and fingerboard is Rosewood. The finish is purest black. The shape is of course an Explorer 2000 shape with a tune o matic bridge. I bought it with certification, model # and case.

Sound : 10
I am playing heavy Metal mainly Metallica and it is a damn great guitar. Its not as heavy as I expected it, but nevertheless it has a lot of wood and gives you a really fat sound with the EMGs. I am using a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier for amplification which gives it even more power. Its the perfect heavy guitar but if you replace the neck Emg 81 with a 60 you ll get the finest clean sound too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar is perfectly worked. Nothing too short or too long, everythings round. All buttons are smooth, even the cable plug is magnetic so that you can easily move around with the cable without effecting the sound. You cant do it better.

Reliability/Durability : 10
See the section above. Its a very solid guitar and will last through a lot of things other guitars wont. And yes its a perfect guitar for live gigs.

Customer Support : 4
The company is very friendly but also VERY slow since they are very small but have a high demand on their great guitars. So the custom support lacks a bit in that case sadly.

Overall Rating : 10
I ve been playing guitar for a little while now and test played a lot of guitars before I ve made my final decission and I will never ever regret it. Its the perfect Metal guitar and fits to me and the music I play and I can only recommand it to anyone who likes to play Metallica or other hard and fast stuff.
