But i made some modifications the day i brought this. i took out the chrome seymore duncan pickups, put in a EMG 81 and 85 combo. Changed the tuners from the grover to the SPERZEL LOCKING TUNERS and also changed the bridge to a tone pros. i pretty much made this guitar exactly the same if no better than the delux (ec 1000) model. i just didnt like any design avaliable in the delux range.

Sadly i had to buy this from the most expensive store for guitars as they are dominating over other shops and have exclusive deals with many companies so they will only sell their products. Overly priced.

Sound : 8
With the modifications it has amazing sustain, best for blackmetal and deathmetal. Very nice guitar. The standard pick ups arnt to great i believe the bridge pickup is a seymore duncan SH4, which isnt what ESP said it is. They are high output a bit hissy, very deep lots of bass. a bit muddy in the highs mids arnt to clear. Pickups arnt the best but very very HEAVEY which i quite liked. I didnt like the neck pick up however. The emgs do perfect nice and clean but would be better putting in some seymore duncan live metal same to what dimmu borgir use to get the overall evil tone.

But for what you get the sustain is amazing just add a toneprose and its perfect!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Finish is very nice mind had hairline scratches and i got it brand new. company im not happy with on that fact but i do love the finish! bridge is very nice, well worth it, and i love the set neck, nice sustain. The painted neck seems to irritate people but i quite like it. makes the guitar look simple but still a very metal guitar!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Pretty solid guitar heavy but good seems to do fine I havent giged yet mostly in the studio but seems very sturdy!

Customer Support : 7
Never delt with esp. always go though the retailer. Would say esp needs to have better quallity control as my guitar looks like its been played with alot and it was brand new. not happy on that fact. some little details could be better.

Overall Rating : 9
In my 3 years of experience and used in recording for my bands cd, does great. i wouldnt sell this guitar. The mods i have made have been perfect for me. i have no need to sell this gat and i dont want to. Still very over priced.

It's black and it has humbuckers with little chrome guard thingies over them. The bridge is not a floyd rose so if your a knucklehead you don't have to mess with anything before playing. What else could you ask for? I love the electronic configuration which gives me volume controls for both pickups when it comes to the those special Tom Morello moments. Earvana also ensures perfect tuning and intonation. Sweetness incarnate!

Sound : 9
This guitar has more low end then a in living colour fly girl. Which is a good thing. If your looking for that Les Paul sound which you better be if your looking at this axe this axe will suit you perfectly. The axe suits me perfect for those metal songs that require good sounding pickups with actual tone and not just muddy distortion. The seymours give the perfect balance between solid sounding distortion and a nice warm clean sound (for those emotional non distorted passages)I give the guitar a 9 only because I have yet to play a $30,000 Les Paul and would fear unknowingly calling a slightly less than perfect guitar perfect. I wish there was a 9.5 rating.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I first got this axe, I had the bridge raised. I then had the nuts slotted for bigger strings. I think that the guitar sounded nice as is with the stock strings but I wanted to down tune it. I actually like the black finish. Some complain that it's hard to keep clean, scratches show up easily etc. But to me the black finish along with the arch top makes it look lake a evil sting ray or something. Don't complain about scratches, it's meant to be played not looked at in a museum

Reliability/Durability : 9
The only thing that has happened to this guitar is that the input jack has came loose on me. I don't know if this is because I use planet waves with the little barb thingies on them or what. I just used my plumbers intuition and put locktite on the threads and that seemed to solve that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never tried to contact Esp. Hope I never will.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing guitar for about 4 years. I own a esp viper 301 with the 81 and 85 combo and a fat strat all played through my randall rg100g3. If this guitar was stolen, I would buy it again. I recommend it to anyone looking for that Les Paul sound yet failing to come up with the $1000+ that you need to buy one.

This guitar is probably one of the best guitars I've ever owned. Before buying this guitar, I had never owned a Les Paul, so it was brand new to me. I play some sort of Thrash/Death metal in a band, but also a something little less heavier. This guitar isn't quite a BC Rich Metal axe, but it handles the metal music well. For those looking for the maximal distortion, this isn't the right choise, but this guitar handles a wide range of musical styles. I think the best thing with this guitar is it's clean sound. It's very rich. When playing through my roland micro cube on the acoustic channel, it actually sounds like an acoustic guitar! It's amazing. However, for metalheads like myself, the clean sound isn't the most important thing. This guitar doesn't have that heavy sustain since it's a set-neck guitar. The sound however is great. The Seymour Duncan pickups are good, but I prefer EMG just a little bit more. I bought this guitar cause I wanted to get rid of my Jackson RR3 with a licensed floyd rose. I hate that licenesed piece of shit that they have on 400-700 dollar guitars. That's why i bought a guitar that cost me 550 euros without a floyd rose. And I'm very satisfied with the tune-o-matic/stop tailpiece bridge. And the grover tuners are great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The set-up was great, the action was very good! Nothing to complain about here. But I actually expected it since it's an ESP (LTD). The pickups were great and there were no flaws, no nothing! Great job!

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is very heavy, it weighs much more than my ex. Jackson RR. I think it's quite reliable, but I must say one thing. When I was doing my first gig with this guitar, it didn't last that long until it collapsed, and I had to start tuning it in the middle of the show. I don't know the reason for this, I guess it happend because of the heat on the stage. However, I don't blame it all on my guitar, the grover tuners are great. I changed the strap buttons to schaller strap locks in the very moment I got this guitar. I depend on this guitar, but wont gig again without backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty is 3 years, that's great! Bought it from thomann.

Overall Rating : 8
I own this guitar and will buy another from ESP. At the moment I don't have an own cab and head, only my roland micro cube for practice, and when training with the band, I usually borrow an amp. Well, since this was my first Les Paul experience, I wish I would have tried it a bit more before buying. The thing is, that it's not that comfortable when sitting, at least for me. I do not, however regret that I bought this. If it was stolen, I would torture the one that stole it, and maybe kill him. If it was lost, I think I would buy some another guitar. Of all the Les Pauls I've tried after i bought this, I must say that this is the best of them all. This is a great guitar for a wide range of musical styles, but you better try it several times before buying it.

2005. Made in Korea. Les Paul clone...with a twist.
Construction: Set Neck
Scale: 24.75 in.
Body: Mahogany
Neck/Fretboard: 3-piece mahogany/rosewood
Inlays: Flags with model name at 12th fret
Pickups: Seymour Duncan JB/59 set
Electronics: 2 volume, tone, 3-way toggle
Hardware: Chrome + Earvana compensated nut & Grover tuners
Bridge: Tune-o-matic with stop tailpiece
Binding: Creme (body, neck, headstock)
Frets: 22 XJ

Wish it had 2 tone knobs (one for each pickup). That way I could set them once and then just use the selector. But this is just me being lazy. Volume knobs are positioned perfectly (under pinkie), someone was paying attention to ergonomics and player interface :-)

Sound : 10
The EC400AT plays AND sounds better than ALL Epiphone LPs I tried and some Gibsons too. While the pups + the beefy mahogany body can crunch with the best of them, the clean tone (on both pups) is unreal. And there's actual variation between all the settings and pickups so tone is very controllable from the guitar itself (I'm using a VOX AD30VT Valvetronix amp). The clean syrupy tone on the neck pickup (JB?) with the tone knob dialed down is awesome (well for me anyways).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Workmanship is top notch, no complaints. I don't expect any less from ESP. Action was perfect. Extremely easy to play, great action and setup from the factory. For a guitar this beefy, it's seems very well-balanced. Only problem is upper fret access, the heel is pretty beefy but then most LPs I've tried are the same way. It just takes some getting used to.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Seems very solidly built. See Action, Fit & Finish category....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had the pleasure yet. Hope it stays that way.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing 5 years or so. Owned this for about 6 months. This guitar is amazing. I plug into a VOX AD30VT at home, got rid of my FX pedal. Also have a Marshall MG15CD.
My first electric guitar was an ESP M-50 (5 years ago)---great bang for the buck. That made me into an ESP convert. The EC400AT is a beautiful (yet understated) elegant looking guitar---I still gaze at it on its stand sometimes. I would have paid a lot more this guitar.

2006 model--made in korea-22 jumbo frets--goldtop with mahogany body and neck-2 volume, 1 tone control-2 s duncan pickups(59 in N, JB in B)-les paul style body with tune-o-matic bridge-grover tuners-

Sound : 10
i play everything from contemporary to blues to fusion to jazz-running this thru a mesa boogie mark1 reissue combo, out to a yamaha magicstomp and a morley volume pedal--i love the duncan pickups!--the 59, depending on how close it is set to the strings, can go from very clear to a nice midrange quality--the JB in the bridge is the perfect bridge pickup--warm, fat, not too treble-y--

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
by far, the best set-up right out of the box(i mean that literally)-jumbo frets are a great idea on a LP type of guitar--the fit and finsh is flawless--cannot find any issues whatsoever-

i was in the market for either an SG or LP guitar--i had tried out a bunch of gibson's, ranging in price from $700 to $2500--and can honestly say that there were serious issues with them--which is appalling when i was ready to spend that kind of money--issues like improperly seated frets, controls that did not work, bad fit and finish overall--so i went to a local store in the pittsburgh area and tried out 4 or 5 ESP's--and i like this one the best--i think the japanese made ESP's are superb, but not $1100 more--

Made is korea 2005. 22 frets, ARchtop Gold top.

Seymour Duncan 59/JB pickups

Sound : 10
I play rock, hard rock, metallica , black metal. THis guitar is one of the best guitars I have. Duncan pickups have great harmonics. In neck pickup mode, it sounds like Gun n roses, warm and thick. In bridge mode, it sounds like metallica... That covers a wide range of sound you can get from a humbucker pickup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is LOW!!!!! I AM LOVING IT!!
Great feeling!!!
Finish is flawless!!!

It looks solid and will last a decade...

Con: it's kind of hard to reach lower string on the 22 fret when you are standing becuase the joint area is thick. But who cares? Most people play on the lower strings only on 22 fret...

For the price I paid for, This guitar is 10 out of 10.

2005. Korean Made. Metallic Gold Arch top. Volume Volume Tone and three way selector. Les Paul Copy with Seymour Duncans (59 Neck and JB in the Bridge). Mahongy body with Mahogany Arch Top. Tune O Matic bridge and Stop tailpiece. Gotoh Tuners. Rosewood neck. Came with
allen wrenches for truss rod and bridge.

Sound : 10
Sound is fantastic. Rich and full and bright and clear. Outstanding sustain and the electronics are great. Nice taper on all pots and the three way switch is nice and repsonsive with no crackle or soft spots.
This guitar has yet to disappoint as I play along with all sorts of styles on the radio. I play all sorts of styles.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Best factory set-up I have ever played. I like the actiona little higher than most and I haven't had to do a thing other than set the pick-ups to the the height I like, came a little low for me. The finish and workmanship on this guitar is just great. Looks wonderful, looks expensive. looks like a real guitar and not like some of the cheap Epi Pauls I see in the guitar store. Not a single flaw out of the box.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Guitar has been out several times and always gets compliemtns. Durable and solid instrument. Hardware is solid, strap buttons seem to be adequate but will replace with strap locks. Finish looks like it will last a lifetime. Nice luster and very durable to the touch. I would use it on a gig without a back-up no questions asked.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No issues with the instrumetn can't comment on the support! :)

Overall Rating : 10
Hell of a versatile instrument from an almost exclusively metal manufacturer. I have been playing actively for twenty five years and been making music for 32. I play five instruments and have a studio in my residence. I compared this guitar to a lot of Gibsons and the Gibson's feel like pieces of crap in the hand and sound like crap too.
I bought this guitar without playing it and I am the happiest man alive. I own about twelve other guitars from Vintage Les Paul Japanese copies to cheap Asian made ones I hot rod myself.
I love the way the control knobs are situated just below the right hand. A break with the traditional position and I was a little lukewarm about them but after playing it for two months solid and not even picking up any of the other axes in the stable I think I found my new best friend.
I also have really come to love the asymetric shape and sharp point of the cutaway. Stylish deviations that really make it its own instrument. If youre looking at an Epi, do yourself a major favor and get one of these.
Man y of the folks in the worlds I play in really like it, it always gets compliments on the looks and those that pick it up cant put it down!
If it were stolen I would replace it no questions asked. I can't beleive they can make such a fine instrument fro this kind of money, go Korea go!

I normally play classic punk/rock and this thing can dial in everything from the Ramones, Kiss, social distortion, guns and everything in between. Probably the tightest sounding guitar I own. Absolutely smokes our other guitarists gibson LP studio.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything looks and sounds fine, no flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Only had it for a lil over a month and so far, so good. I have a feeling it'll be around for a long time. I'd never gig without a back up but I would be able to do it with this with no problem.

this was a bitch to order. MF dicked me around for about 3 weeks- month til they finally shipped it.

I've been playing for about 14-15 years and have alot of other guitars(epiphone hot rodded strat thing, Ibanez rg 1750pm?, glittertop LP standard, schecter acoustic, turser JT72,ESP Lynch sunburst tiger, peavey predator7,Jackson Rhoads RR3,Jackson DK2)If this were stolen or lost I'd fukkin lose it. not so much because I love it, more over that it was such a pain in the ass to get. Coming stock with REAL duncans and not the cheap ass duncan designed shit that you usually get in this price range, you can't beat the price and performance of this guitar.

Les Paul Goldtop Copy with a set neck, Solid Mahogany Body, Rosewood fretboard, Nice Flag Inlays...which are better than the current Epiphone crap, Seymour Duncan JB bridge and 59 model neck pickups, Chrome Hardware and ESP's Earvana compensated nut & Grover tuners, 22 XJ Frets. The finish on this was really amazing. I used to have a 74' Gibson Goldtop and this thing looks really close. For $530 you're getting alot of guitar.

Sound : 9
On this guitar I play stuff like Guns N Roses, Metallica, Janes Addiction, AFI, Bad Religion, Iron Maiden basically anything rock, punk rock to metal. Like any Les Paul it is a very versatile guitar and it covers alot of ground for these styles. I'm using a Marshall Valvestate with it. This guitar simply just kicks ass. I can't believe how good it sounds for the price. I've owned 4 Epiphone Les Paul's before and this thing just kills em all. It has plenty of sustain and depth but at the same time has alot of brightness to it for solos and things. I also have an Gibson SG Standard but sometimes I find myself playing this thing just as much if not more. This thing comes really close to the feel of the 74' Gibson Goldtop I used to have for more than half the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
In my opinion the setup always sucks out of the factory but I'd have to say that this setup sucked the least out of any guitars I had previously, even the Gibson's. This took the least amount of tweaking. I messed around the truss rod a bit and now the action is nice and low but with no buzzing. This was probably best setup guitar out of the factory I've ever had. It stays in tune good but I think I'm gonna try to add a graphite nut just to make it perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is very solid and heavy like a real Les Paul. The hardware that comes with it is good too and is very solid, way better than an Epiphone.I'm not trying to be an Epiphone basher here they're great guitars, but for $30 more bucks than an Epiphone Les Paul Standard you're getting better hardware, pickups, nut, action, fretboard and inlays. It also just feels more solid and real instead of a cheap copy. I would depend on it, but I mainly bought it as a backup for my SG.

Customer Support : 7
I've never dealt with this company but they have a cool website that gives out alot of information.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 10 years and I've owned plenty of guitars along the way. I have an SG I've had real Les Paul's and I'd say this is the best deal out there for true Les Paul tone and feel without paying over $1000. I'd like to get a real Les Paul again but I'm trying to save for a Mesa Head. If you don't have $1000+ to spend on a Used Les Paul get one of these. If you only have $300 steal some money and one of these because it kills any $300+ Epiphone. If you need a back up guitar get one because the price is reasonable. You could still gig this as your main guitar but just get one before ESP realizes that they're giving it away!
