dual active emg's. it's a hot axe. a joy to play & looks good on the stand. nothing wrong with the appearance. the switch problem is the only defect on mine. otherwise it looks & sounds great.

nice guitar for the price. i love the sound, look & feel of it. the most fun i've had playing a guitar. currently running thru amp emulation (pod, tonelab). looking to pick up a cabinet for it later this year. tone is real crisp & clean.
i've been a keyboard guy for about 20 years. been noodling on guitar for about 5-7 years now. this is my first new quality electric guitar & i'm pretty happy with it.

sounds great, other than the defective switch. upper & lower humbuckers work ok independantly. dual in the middle only plays the lower unless you press on the toggle just so. bad switch or solder. i'll have to pop it open. should be a cheap fix though.

just got it. looks, feels solid. stays in tune.

i figure i can pop open the switch & fix it myself. most companies are a pain in the ass to deal with so i'd rather not bother.

for a $600+ made in Korea inspected in the US guitar i'd hope they'd catch defects like a bunk switch. realistically i'm surprised there wasn't more wrong with it. corporate quality control is in the toilet these days.
it's a sweet guitar for the price. action is good & low, emg's sound great. sound, look & feel are awesome. be sure you can make adjustments yourself or know someone who is good with setting guitars up when buying online. you never know what kind of setup yer gonna get from these overseas manufacturers & half assed US inspectors.

I have to be versatile with my style, as I play anything from acousticy sounding soft rock to funk, to dirty soft rock, to hardcore, metal, and deathcore.....Simply put this is the best guitar I own.
There are 2 thinggs I don't like about it, and I am incredibly picky.
1-No killswitch or separate volume knobs
2-and this is only a fault out of technicality, the earvana nut while perfect after the 3rd or 4th fret, makes it tough to play open chords when played at the bottom of the neck. I have found a way to make it happen but it's tricky. When you go to play and open C, D, G, Em, F(yes I know not REALLY open) where you would press those strings to touch the neck normally you can't, that is if you want to have the chord retain integrity. Because of the earvana you are actually bending those strings about a half step when you fret the strings how you'd usually be comfortable, almost as if they are scalloped frets. You have to use a very distinct touch in order to get what you're wanting to hear.....I digress. This is an amazing guitar, and this problem isn't only found on this guitar, and can't honestly be called a problem, when you look at the bright side because the tonality that the earvana nut offers IS SUPERIOR!!!!!!
YES...SUPERIOR!
I use it either with a fender metalhead or a line6 II, amazing either way, I have also played it through bass amps....WOW!!! Talk about rich tone, get outta the city!
Tone, like no other I've ever played, and I've played 5000, 6000, 10,000 dollar guitars. It's clean and perfect.
You can do just about anything with it except sound naturally dirty. It's not going to sound like an indie band any time soon unless you play it through the right effects or amplifier.
Already displayed the dislikes....You'll love this guitar!

I didn't get it from the factory, I buy it through a store that has a luthier, and I suggest you buy yours there too!!!!
drumcityguitarland.com... No, I'm not an employee, they just have the best selection, killer service, and amazing prices.
Everything was set perfect, because of who I bought it from.

It has stood the test of live playing, if you use some tact with your playing and get your strings stretched before you play, it won't go out of tune....almost ever.
Everything is amazing, it's made by ESP...duh?
No, I would never fly without a backup....I'm not retarded.

amazing people.
It's seems they're as concerned that I get what I want/need as I am.
Not from this guitar but from talking to them about custom work.

I've been playing 7 years, I own a fender strat, 2 Ibanez prestige rgb1725, Epiphone Les Paul other....
Will it totally change my life?
I couldn't unless I do so in the next couple of weeks or so, there are 2 left like it in the world....limited edition skull....that is 2 left like it new...that's just how I roll.
I love everything about it except...the toggle deal, The whole thing, it's got huge tone, great feel, amazing action, pure sound, super super super light, the finish makes me want to pick it up, I love to know that I have a guitar with an ebony fretboard, and...I have a skull on mine....what more?....I know... the toggle deal.

Basic features Satin Finish, Single Cut LP body Style, Earvana, Grover Tuners. I also have a EC-1000 Amber Sunburts with Duncans, and this guitar fits me better, from sound to looks, I have found the one.

I orginally had the See thru black cherry EC-1000 with EMG 81/60, and then traded it for the Amber Sunburst EC-1000 with Duncan JB/59. This was great for a while and still is for bluesy stuff that is why I'm keeping it, plus it looks great. However I saw the EC-500S and fell in love with it, I was waiting for one like this with a Satin finish and fixed bridge as opposed to the EC-2005 Anniversary model which had string thru.....
I am playing thru a Mesa Single Rectifier loaded with E-34L's, and two Mesa Cabs one Rectifier version on the bottom and the Stilleto on the top. Other than that I run through a Dunlop original Crybaby. That's all I need, none of the other crap...Simple is Pimp !! After about a decade of playing I have finally found my sound...!
This guitar rocks, and anyone who loves anything close to resembling hard rock or metal will be set with this guitar and this pickup config --- EMG 81/60. Just don't be afraid to mess with you EQ, that is what it's there for !!!
This guitar is simple and HOT !!! Just what I was looking for

This guitar is solid just like all the other ESP's and LTD's I have played. There are little misses in finish etc...That an Eclipse probably wouldn't have...But I did not buy this to hang on the wall. I plan on using this for extensive touring, and there is no doubt in my mind it can handle it !!!
I bought this new off of guitar_sales on ebay, it came from Canada, and this guy had it set up perfect to my liking...thumbs up for this company.

Things I had to add to this guitar were simple, Black Dunlop Strap locks, Black Levy's Grommet Strap, and Black Gator GPE-LPS ATA case.
Oh yeah and some Ernie ball Regulars.
Done !! I'm ready to tour...
However, just like anything bring a back up in case you break a string in the middle of a set..

Never had to deal with these guys, however I did call them when I was choosing which EC-1000 to get (Duncans or EMG's) And it seemed very personal...no automation what so ever, and the guys was laid back, you could tell he was a guitarist, and we shot the shit for about a half hour...
Stand UP !!! and praise these guys Gibson, I'm guessing this was the way you were before you got to cool...

Again, I have been playing for about 10 years, and my axe's have change dramatically. First there was the Epiphone LP Special II, I put and EMG 81 in this thing right away, then a Fender Jagstang, Fender Fat Strat, Ibanez RG-470, Gibson LP Studio, Gibson LP Standard, Sold all of these, and found my home with ESP/LTD. I plan on keeping my EC-1000, and I have found the one in my EC-500S
This guitar is more than worth your time to check out...
