It's fairly basic!
It has two Seymore Duncan pickups they do the job well enough for me.
The electronics are simple, 1 x 3 position switch for neck/neck-bridge/bridge, 1 volume and 1 tone. Most of the time I play I have the tone and volume on Max and the bridge pickup selected.
22 BIG frets on a bolt on neck.
Tuners aren't the best, I find them a little "jumpy" but once tuned they stay where there put.
Tunomatic bridge....... nice and simple!
Jim Dunlop strap locks are a must or your going to need to bandage the head stock up! The Gibsons have the strap buttons behind the neck which seems safer but if you have a go with one you find they feel top heavy rather than hanging nicely!
The large rear end makes it unusual to sit and play for some but once used to it you find its quite comfortable as is the shape, it sits nicely on your leg and doesnt move.
It does EXACTLY what I want so I'll give it a 10!

Metal! Well, it's got two humbuckers, a large amount of wood!
The tune-omatic bridge helps sustain. I can get any sound I want.
The front pickup gives you a sparkling clean sound, both give a real full sound and the rear a hard edged metal tone.
If you like a strat type setup this isnt for you, if you like twin humbuckers then it is.
I use a mesa boogie studio 22 combo, a Triaxis (used to be owned by Mike Rutherford of Genesis), a dod rack EQ.
It's not noisy, infact very quiet!
Maybe pickup change in the future but for now it's all I need!

Action is good, I think a tech could make it a lot better and I will get round to it but it feels nice so if it aint brok I'm not going to fix it!
The guitar did have a mark on the bottom rear corner, looks almost like a layer of air between the paint and laquer, hardley noticable and not caused by an impact so I think maybe the extreem shape made the wood contraction a little more pronounced and pulled in a bit there....... I'm not an expert so I'm not guessing.
The very tip of the hear stock has a very thin layer of laquer on it and the paint is a little thin on the bottom edge of the head stock.
I think they could have done a much better job on painting and finishing these bits.

I have never played this live....... other than the 100 thousand audience I played to in my bedroom last night :-)
Strap buttons need changing to stap locks, and put a right angle plug it the jack socket and wrap the cord over the rear button, that looks neater!
Other than that I reckon it could survive a world tour!
Keep it in a hard case, the shape leaves the corners exposed to accidental damage and you cant prop this up against a wall on the strap button IT WILL FALL OVER!
Just appreciate it is not a 100% practical shape and needs a little extra care!

I bought this guitar after ESP got sued by Gibson.
I'm in the UK, I contacted ESP UK and they put the word out to all there suppliers and found me possibly the only new one in a shop in the UK!
I have 100% confidence that they will help me if I ask!

I saw James Hetfield (Metallica) with one of original ESP's when I was 17, now at 26 I finally have one (well the next one down) after 9 years of dreaming the dream has finaly come true so you can see I am biased!!!
I normaly play the bass!
I love this guitar and will never part with it, it is worth more to me than the money I paid!

Well, this guitar has 22 extra - jumbo frets. It has an alder body with a distinctive Explorer shape. it has a H/H pickup configuration that houses two Duncan Designed Passive humbuckers. A tune-o-matic/stop tail piece. It also has a nice thick neck for excellent rhythm playing. It came with a nice fairly sturdy hardshell case. I mainly bought this guitar because I like the shape and it has an excellent sound. I play mostly metal(metallica sound) and it is perfect for that, but it also has a great sound for those fun little blues solos. I plan on changing the pickups to EMG 's like most everyone with this guitar. Im glad i took the money outta the bank to buy this guitar and if it were stolen i would buy again. I bought this guitar because i didnt have the money for its big brother the ESP E.X.P and this was the best second choice. Only problem I had with it was when i recieved it the tone pot was loose causing the wires to twist when i turned the tone nob, but with a very very small screwdrive that was easily fixed.

This and the flying-V seem to be the best suited rhythm guitar sounds for the metal(metallica type) music that I play. I currently run it through a Crate GX-212 with a DOD Grunge FX pedal(which sounds nothing like "grunge" distortion). It is a ver quiet guitar with a nice full sound. it has great sustain and will probably have even better sustain after I add the EMG's. I have no complaints about this guitar.

The action was set low which I like for rythem playing and it was set quite a bit lower than my Strat. Everything was great except for the loose tone pot, which was easily fixed.

This guitar is rugged and looks like it could withstand a war. The strap buttons are a little small I think. Im using an Ernie Ball strap and it keeps slipping off the button, but ill fix that wit a locking strap button. Its great, but I would never go without a backup, plus I like playing different guitars.

I have been playing just about 8 years. This is my fourth guitar and won't be my last, maybe not even my last EX-200. I would defenitly buy again and I will probably stick with ESP guitars. I was wondering something. Is it possible to order this guitar from ESP with some custom feature, ex. pickups, fret inlays? I was wondering this because I was thinking it would cost less than ordering a completely custom built guitar(maybe not). Also, the EXP is quite a bit more expensive than the Ex-200.
